Had this in 2014 at the brewery, a place I wouldn't recommend as a destination. Poor product, poor service.
Poured a lighter color than I expected back then, was that dark amber appearance. Thin off white head 1/5". Aroma was heavy on the booze, with a little bit of that old ale feels of caramel and toffee malt sweetness underneath it. Come to find out its a pale ale, and I'm wondering why no hops are discernable, even if its been barrel aged. Not a lot of info about it. Seems like this was the base barrel aged pale ale before they did a bunch of variants of it with peppers.
Didn't really think it did anything beneficial to the pale ale category. Made it come off like a barrel aged old ale, with its bitterness lacking, than a pale ale. Total tweener, not really sure what the audience for something like this is.

Pours amber/copper in color and noticeable alcohol legs.
Strong caramel sweetness, earthy hops, and a definite sweet hint of bourbon.
Warming and sweet bourbon, caramel/toffee like malts, and earthy hop bitterness.
Medium-bodied, low carbonation, sweet, a little hot, warming.
Overall, as a person that wouldn't really call themselves a fan of bourbon barrel aged pale ales/IPAs this was definitely worth trying.
