Notes / Commercial Description:
A Founders take on a classic style, brewed with a generous amount of flaked oats, chocolate malt, roasted barley and a healthy helping of Nugget hops, Founders Oatmeal Stout is nitrogen-infused to give it an extra smooth and creamy mouthfeel. An attractive cascade effect gives this beer its forthright visual appeal—and the body and clean flavor deliver on that initial promise.

This beer from the nitro tap takes about 3 minutes to calm the head down as the beer cascades in the glass. The head literally was as thick as whipped cream. The aroma was good and the taste was good. I would have liked a little more depth in the flavor department but the perfect mouthfeel of this beer cream sickle was a treat. I would purchase again, I very much enjoyed this.

Bottom Line: Creamy brew with the nitro.

The beer comes in a black color with a fluffy off white head. Very much an oatmeal stout look.

The aroma has tons of chocolate, oatmeal, roasty malt, black coffee, along with some piney hops.

The flavor follows with that huge bittersweet chocolate and dark coffee flavor, then it cleans up with a piney, woody hop character without being too bitter. There's a bit of roasty malt too.

The body is as expected with this smaller ABV beer. It has a medium to light body, though the oatmeal gives it a bit of creaminess.

This is an extremely well crafted oatmeal stout and one of the best I've had.

nitro tap at sams in Durham. snifter.

pours a gorgeous layered black, then grey then white. 3 distinct colors. smell is mild, not much. taste is smooth, chocolately and very malty. high carbonation. easy drinking.

overall nothing amazing, but an extremely easy drinking stout. the body is a tad too light, but other than that very good.
