I've had this on draught before and when I saw the 15-pack in cans, I had to make the purchase. Poured into a Sam Adams Lager pint glass with a perfect topaz hue and an acceptable amount of head. The citrus, fruity taste hits you immediately and it doesn't get bumped out of order by a "too heavy" malt finish. This is truly one of the finest IPA's on the market. The so-called "West Coast" ales are bland compared to this...pour one and enjoy the acrobatics of Founders finest to entertain your taste buds

Bottle date reads 12/09/15. Poured aggressively into a Stella goblet.

Pours a man amber honey color, with off while frothy head that hangs around for a while. Beautiful lacing is present as I continue to sip. Great head retention!

Smells of rye berries, earthy hops, green apple, acetaldehyde. Interesting nose.

Tastes very dry and earthy. As one of my guests once said to me, "this beer tastes like dirt." Thank you anonymous guest for that quote. I'm apologize for never catching your name.

Awesome mouthfeel going on. It feels like the sweetness of the malt and the dryness of the hops are going to war in your mouth. Eventually the mouth has a dry feeling but sweetness and bitterness when licking the lips.

Overall s pretty interesting beer. I figured this would rate low because most newer craft beer drinkers are familiar with two types of IPA styles. This is definitely different than a west coast citrusy IPA (stone enjoy by, ballast point sculpin) and an east coast floral/malty IPA (victory hop devil, bell's two hearted). I feel that for what it is, it is delicious and done right. Drink this one fresh.

Cheers!
Wade

Poured from a can into Guinness imperial pint glass. Canned on 11/21/17

A- crystal clear copper with a thick, foamy head. Great lacing on the glass. Really nice looking brew.

S- Full of tropical fruit (mango, passion) and pine resin. Caramel and vanilla coming in after a few sips

T- Bitter up front, with grapefruit peel and other tropical fruits. Light sweetness follows, like burnt sugar

F- Resiny and sticky, medium bodied.

O- Seriously enjoyable brew. Wish I'd gotten it fresher, to get more of the hops from this one, but even so, I like it.
