This Bottle was clearly way past it, but still within Founders' drink-by date, so i'll rate it.
Terrible stuff.
This can't be how the Brewery intended to brew it.

12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip.

Pours golden but settles into the glass with a copper hue to it. Excellent clarity and visible trickles of carbonation beneath a frothy, full and rich foam. Persists for ages. 5

Smells like some mango and strawberry smoothie. Very fruit forward initially but there's some resinous, oily and piny hop lurking not far beyond this. Does give off some sticky sweet malt aroma. 4

Interesting. That first sip tasted all lager. Almost a skunky taste. Weird. I have to check the bottled on date at this point. December 14th. This is a month and a half old and the first beer I've had in 25 days and I'm not feeling it at all. All the fruitiness has disappeared. The pine too. This is all earthiness, faint white wine, sweet malt and a skunky bitter-flavored finish. Not sure what the hell to think. I keep sipping at it hoping to find some flavor but it just seems to be devoid of anything from start through the middle until a finish that reminds me of an old pilsner. 2

Far too bitter on the finish for me right now. Could it be the break from beer? 25 days and I can't drink an IPA? I don't know, but this is... just not doing it. It's light at least, and has a nice oily, resinous and prickly pine feel, but damn. Not digging it over at all. 2.5

I wonder if this is what it was like drinking my first IPA. All I'm getting is bitterness. No flavor at all.

Burnt orange with a soapy head of 1 finger.

Nose is not pronounced at all. Quiet aromas of mango cores and skin, and old hop.

Not digging this azacca hop at all - it tastes old despite the month old birth date. Woody, stiff, ugly.

Feel is wet and then chalky.

Overall it's a poor trial. Nope.

The color on this beer is great but the taste wasn't up to par not nearly enough hops flavor for me no bitterness didn't even really taste like an IPA to me. But like I always say gotta try it for yourself

Aroma: Hops, metal?.
Look: Light Copper color, medium white head. Lasting.
Taste: Hoppy. Metallic, dank( as they say). Mellow pine. The Azacca Hops have "sortof" the Mosaic feel, but not quite as smooth.
Feel is bubbly, pretty smooth.
Good smooth beer from founders....love the hops experimentation, but not my favorite.

This one has a decent flavor but the malt backbone is way too much for me. I prefer the hop forward type IPA. This doesn't necessarily mean there is anything wrong with this, but my palate has become accustomed to the bitter beers, not the "balanced" beers. I certainly wasn't feeling the 70 IBUs in this one. Seemed more like a well balanced IPA (nothing wrong with that). I find this one average in all categories with no major flaws. Not my cup of tea.

I was pretty disappointed in this one. I expected tropical fruits, but the more I drank, the more a strong onion flavor took over. Pretty soon, that is all I could taste.

On-draught @ Founders. Currently a taproom only release. Expectations are low; I don't usually like Founders' hoppy offerings too much. Review is brief since I'm on a smartphone:

A: 2.5cm head of off-white colour. Decent thickness and frothiness. Retention is nice - about 4-5 minutes. Leaves light lacing as it recedes.

Body is a clear vibrant copper. Clean, with no visible yeast particulate or hop sediment.

Looks nice for an IPA. Not unique or special looking.

Sm: Pale malts and a balanced hop profile. Floral notes, vague fruit, faint grass, new world mango hop character.

Suggests a balanced enjoyable brew with a pleasing albeit conventional hop profile.

I detect no off-notes, booze, or yeast.

Aromatic intensity is average.

T: Pale malt sweetness. Hop profile is mild and reticent, actually. The usual floral notes, plus assertive hop bitterness with hints of pine and rindy bitterness. Somewhat herbal.

It's a contained, reticent, slightly shallow IPA. Fine, but not unique, special, or a paragon of this over saturated style. I like it for what it is, and I find no off-notes, booze, or alcohol.

Mf: Medium-bodied. Slightly overcarbonated. Smooth, wet, crisp. Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, harsh, rough, or scratchy.

O: Drinkable and pleasant enough, but it won't impress fans of the style. Founders continues to have trouble turning out a truly impressive IPA. I wouldn't recommend it to friends.
