32 oz. half growler on tap filled at Whole Foods on Waugh St. in Houston

L: murky bronze ... lots of orange, lots of brown, not a ton of amber; pushes up a 2-inch head of white foam that creates a mural of sticky-headed art ... what a show! I always have to pour that first glass pretty hard from this particular half growler, and it worked in my favor here because I want to keep this glass forever in its current state; it's not lacing much, but about 50% of the head stuck to the glass ... almost never see this much sticking

S: orange, pine, something floral, plenty of malt sweetness but not so much that it becomes overly caramely

T: a carnival ride of hops flavors on top a gentle easy going bed of biscuity malt; the hops are bitter and taste like grapefruit, mango, orange and maybe what I've heard called "starfruit" in the valley down south ... pear ... candied orange ... the bitterness bites midswallow and doesn't let go for awhile, kinda gently subsiding over time but lingering forever

F: nice all around, very soft and weighty up front with plenty of carbonation to help finish and fill out the back end

O: I'm afraid to buy a 6- or 12-pack of this one even though it's fantastic — I'm worried it won't live up to this half growler! the place I got it at has good reputation for keeping fresh beer on hand and keeping the lines clean, and this first glass of Azacca keeps that reputation in tact for me ... it's exactly what you expect from a good American IPA: lots of hops and enough malt to keep them together

It pours a rich golden color with a white head that makes me say WOW. The head stays with it throughout and leaves a beautiful lacing down the side. The smell is of mild hops and tropical fruit. Taste is a mild hop bite that sweetens into tropical fruit. This a easy drinking, refreshing, offering.

Poured from 12oz. bottle into pint glass. Brewed 11/06/17.
L. Light caramel, tan color. Slight haze. Light white head remaining as a light cover over beer.
S. Light and I do mean light hop scent. A bit of caramel. Tough to find much else.
T. Hop blend into a bit of malt with some muddled fruit gum taste.
F. Easy drinking. Light carbonation. Medium feel.
Despite my lackluster review, I do like this beer. I don,t get the citrus mango stuff the advertise but if you don,t think too hard, it’s a very decent tasting beer. Don’ expect to taste what it says just enjoy it for what it is. Yes there is better. But many worse.

No complaints, just not much smell or taste compared to what you'd expect from a Founder's IPA.

Poured from a 12 ounce can into a Shaker pint glass, "canned on" date 11-13-17.

APPEARANCE: pours a beautiful, hazy, amber color with one-finger off-white head, excellent retention, medium carbonation, there is significant lacing on the glass.

SMELL: bread, caramel, flowers and tropical fruit.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, initially sweet caramel and bread then tropical fruit.

PALATE: medium body and carbonation.

OVERALL: this is a great looking beer but otherwise falls a bit flat for me, it's not bad but there are better IPA's to be had so I will probably not seek this one out again.

Poured from a can into Guinness imperial pint glass. Canned on 11/21/17

A- crystal clear copper with a thick, foamy head. Great lacing on the glass. Really nice looking brew.

S- Full of tropical fruit (mango, passion) and pine resin. Caramel and vanilla coming in after a few sips

T- Bitter up front, with grapefruit peel and other tropical fruits. Light sweetness follows, like burnt sugar

F- Resiny and sticky, medium bodied.

O- Seriously enjoyable brew. Wish I'd gotten it fresher, to get more of the hops from this one, but even so, I like it.

Really nice amber color, big head with nice laces, citrusy nose and flavor with a bright bite of a finish. Great value for a reasonable price. Founders is one solid brewery!
