Appearance: deep orange, almost red color. a finger of an off white head that fades pretty quickly and leaves a pretty strong lacing. moderate haze too it and almost opaque

Smell: lots of alcohol and hops with an underlying sweetness. alcohol can be fairly astringent. hops range from pine to citrus to spicey and resiny. malts barely peek through with some caramel sweetness.

Taste: starts of with a little crystal and caramel sweetness. quickly cut by the rest of the taste, hops and alcohol again. alcohol ranges from mild to astringent. hops come in dank with flavors of pine, citrus, resin.

Mouthfeel: bitter but nothing too overpowering. alcohol is astringent and hot, but if treated properly it comes off well.pretty big body for a dipa

Overall: I prefer big sipping beers to ipas and this give a good alternative to each, great big strong beer flavor with plenty of hops, alcohol works well through out. wonderful beer.

7-24-15 - Poured from a bottle into my DFH IPA glass. One of the 51 beers my sister-in-law got me for my birthday. Triple (?) IPA. 100+ ibu's. Awesome. Wish I had more.

Aroma: Medium sweet treacle malt aroma. Medium spicy hop aroma. Some mango, apple esters. Alcohol is high, which masks some of the hop aroma. No DMS, no diacetyl.

Appearance: Amber with mahogany highlights. Thin dense head that lingers for a surprisingly long time for the abv.

Flavor: medium sweet caramel with a hint of roast. Hop flavor is nicely complex, citrus and pine. They play well with the alcohol flavor which is high. No DMS, no diacetyl.

Mouthfeel: medium-heavy body with medium-low carbonation. Alcohol warming is medium. Bitterness is quite high and lingers on the tongue for a minute or too.

Overall: interesting high alcohol ipa that is an American Barleywine. The bitterness and the alcohol play well together but this is really more of a dessert ipa. The sweetness is quite rich and the mouthfeel is heavy. Would pIair well with fresh fruit or granita for dessert.
