Each fall, our brewhouse looks more like a greenhouse as thousands of pounds of wet hop cones arrive within hours of being picked by some of our favorite local hop growers. Acting quickly, we then load up these wet hops into what will become Harvest Ale – an impossibly aromatic and bright IPA bursting with fresh pine, melon and citrus notes. Our ode to the beauty that is the wet, American hop.

Found this on the shelf tonight in a generic white 4 pack at my liquor store of choice. Wet hopped ale. The beer is a copper haze with a thin white head following the pour. Lace positive as I drink.
The nose is just dreamy. Fat, wet, juicy, fruity funky. It has been some time since I've smelled something as delightful as this. Heaps of hop character ping off this stuff. Grass, lemon grass, pine, grapefruit. Quite the fragrant one is this. Excellent hop showcase. The smell makes me want to plunge in.
The taste is every bit as glorious as the nose here. It is always a treat when the thing tastes like it smells. That demonstrates a balance I'd say. The hops jive well with the malt foundation. Pale ale is a fitting classification as this beer's dryness is held in check despite the fact that it is substantially hopped. Controlled chaos. Just a very well balanced concoction that is a pleasure at every nip. Tons of citrus and nothing abrasive. Buffered with precision. Mouthfeel is exactly right. Pleasingly plump but not heavy.
I am glad I snagged this beer. I could easily find myself marveling at the entire grouping of bottles in one sitting, however tonight I am going to exercise restraint and save some for future enjoyment. Try this one. A powerful hops experience without any rough edges.

On tap, Mothership Series #24.
Pretty good. It's got a nice balance of hop Carmel and honeydew melon. Not super tasty, bright, vibrant honey dew melon. The more earthy, not quite bursting with flavor melon flavor. Subdued, but in a way that works well for this beer. Glad I got to try it.

Pours amber with a 1.5" white head, which lasts. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is floral, citrus, pine.
Taste is orange, papaya, light grapefruit, pine.
Medium body, moderate carbonation. Dry, resinous finish.
This is another outstanding IPA from Founder's.
