12oz bottle from 4-pack ($13.99). Back of bottle dated 10/03/2016.

Pale yellow, clear elixir poured into SA glass. Two-finger, bright white foam, crags of lacing.

A complex mix of citrus, pine, earth, spice with a subtle malt biscuit.

The taste follows with a the earth, pine coming to the fore front, mingling with a nice grass/mint flavor. The malt is still there, lingering like a detective that had been watching around the corner and now followed to make his arrest.

Light-medium body, a bit of an acidic twang.

Descent wet hopped ale, better than last year but not near the standards set by previous editions. Pricey.

A good beer... a great beer. Really tasty. Another IPA that has me wondering why the abv is so high... 7.6%...really? You're a shade or two away from entering double territory. And I'm wondering if that's necessary.

Harvest... wet hops... why is the malt character so prevalent? It's sweet. It's doughy, bready.... cake? Don't get me wrong, it's delicious, but I guess I was expecting the juicy, bursting citrus hop precence the bottle describes. Uhhh... where?

Hmmm.... it may seem I'm taking a dukey on this beer. I don't mean to. Sometimes I'm a slave to style and description. Knowing Founders I shouldn't have been, i.e. Pale Joe (a pale ale guys? really?) Hey I love that beer too!

What I'm trying to say is that it's a really great beer with the grain bill leading the charge and some... some... citrusy hop character that leads to a surprisingly dry finish.

If you see it... pick it up... enjoy it. It's freakin' good. However, the words on the bottle are seemingly meaningless.

12oz. bottled on 10/03/16

Pours slightly hazy amber gold with a dense creamy white foam head. Smells like fresh peaches, apricot, nectarine, papaya, orange, guava, grapefruit, passionfruit, some berries, toasted caramel malt, with floral earthy herbal grass and dank pine. Tastes like peaches, nectarine, apricot, papaya, orange, grapefruit, berries, guava, passionfruit, toasted caramel malt, with floral earthy herbal grass and dank pine. Feels medium bodied, smooth and creamy with moderate low carbonation. Overall a really great wet-hopped harvest ale.

Exactly what a harvest ale should taste like... Aroma of fresh hops....underlying dankness. Taste is of freshed picked hops supported by hop bitterness.

I assume they used pellets for bitterness and the fresh for flavor and aroma which is forefont and on point.

The malt body/sweetness doesn't appear at all, its all hop dankness.....light spicyness on the finish.

Mouth feel is full, moderate/high carbonation.

Couple weeks ago I picked about 2 lbs of fresh hops....That smell was captivating....

This Founders release really brings that smell and taste.... Another Excellent job by Founders.

Drops a yellow color with great clarity especially for a wet hopped ale. Nice 1/2" white head. Drops lots of aroma hops. Seems to hit those new American varieties of hops, simcoe, amarillo.

Wow, just a really almost perfect experience. Imparts tons of hop flavor without going into excessive bitterness territory. The malt bill seems out of the way and neutral, golden promise type of lightly toasted malt to keep this from ever seeming heavy or bogged down in caramel or toffee.

I wish stuff like this was year round and fresh, would be awesome. Definitely a first tier world class harvest ale and ipa, they put it in a great format at a great price too.

Bottle to goblet. Aroma is pine, hops, citrus. Look is pale yellow, small white head, fades. Taste is a bit soapy, with some pine, some citrus. Ok...well...starts off ok, but it wears thin on you.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle.

A: Pours a hazy golden orange color with one finger of foamy white head. Head retains for a few minutes and leaves behind plentiful lacing.

S: Aromas of citrus and tropical fruits initially, orange peel, grapefruit, papaya, tangerine, pineapple, lemon, and mango all come to mind. You also find some nice cracker like malts, hemp, and caramel as well as pine from the hops. Subtle but incredibly pleasant and inviting aromas.

T: The flavors open with some sweet malt, caramel, orange, and honey initially, then the hops really come out with dank pine, and tropical fruits. Has a subtle sweetness to it that mixes well with the bitter pine notes, very well balanced and delicious.

M: On the lighter side of medium bodied, with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very crisp and smooth on the palate with a slick bitter finish.

O: This is a fantastic IPA. One of my favorite seasonal brews it boasts great drinkability and is absolutely delicious. Overall this brew is well balanced and truly shows off the wet-hopped aspect very well. I would gladly recommend this brew (and have many times before) to anyone looking for a great wet-hop IPA, as this is easily one of the best out there in my opinion.

Admittedly, this score isn't fair. Bottked 10/02/2015 & drank 2/2/2016. Four months old. The beer is good though. Don't get me wrong. Just lemony and malty as expected for a beer at this age. It's obvious that this was an A beer fresh. Sadly, I didn't get to try it as such.

Pours a pale hazy golden yellow with a small quickly fading white head. Aroma is citrus pine hops a bit of biscuit malt. Taste same as aroma, has some orange grapefruit notes as well. Palate is a medium body, fairly smooth with mils carbonation. Finishes with a citrus, orange grapefruity sweetness and hops bitterness. Leaves a citrus grapefruit aftertaste. Overall a good drinking and flavorful brew.

2015. Good, Not great. As always, founders has good look and feel for style. i just feel that this harvest wet hopped ale is lacking in hops. Its a good brew, but I'd probably just settle for centennial ipa.

Pours a clear, golden color. One inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of citrus hops, floral hops, earthy malt, sweet malt, slight alcohol, and a hint of yeast. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of floral hops, citrus hops, earthy malt, alcohol, sweet malt, and a hint of yeast. Overall, a good appearance and blend, with decent aroma and body.

pour is hazy orangish color with a few fingers of head, leaves some lacing.

hops and malts on the nose, getting some citrus notes and a nice floral scent that is complimented by sweeter malts. taste is pretty much the same - and they did a nice job striking the right balance on this one. medium body and carbonation, really like the way this one feels on the tongue.

overall this beer is both interesting and refreshing, really glad I picked up a 4 pack!

Bottled on date of 09/30/15

Appearance - Pours hazy and golden orange in color with an off-white, finger width head. Fair retention, then breaks down to a mostly barren surface with a thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass. Not much for lacing outside a random spot here or there.

Smell - Aroma hits on orange character with strong caramel and a touch of toasted malt.

Taste - Follows the nose. Near equal notes of orange hop character and caramel malt with a toasty undertone. Finish is slightly bitter, with a faint note of orange pith bitterness lingering in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair, slightly bitey carbonation. Slick and lightly creamy texture helps to give this a super smooth delivery before a semi-dry finish.

Overall - Hmm, reminds me a bit of Two-Hearted, with stronger flavor. I'm always a fan of the orange/caramel pairing, and they do wonderfully here. Will buy again next year, hopefully with a fresher sample.

I have been wanting to try this one for awhile. This bottle is not as fresh as I would have liked for my first try but I couldn't pass it up. Happily, while I cannot say how it has changed, it is still very tasty. A notable oily resin flavour along with citrus flavours, orange notably. Moderately bitter. A decent caramel malt component. The aroma is nice but a bit weak, perhaps due to faded hops. I look forward to trying a fresher bottle, but enjoyed this one in any event.

The fresh hop blast is off the charts! As usual, Founders produces some of the most consistent beer around. Harvest is no exception to the rule. Tons of earthy, spicy hop bitterness. A nice balance with the malt sweetness. This beer is exceptional.

12 oz bottle poured into spiegelau glass bottled on 10/3

A: Big soapy pillowy white head that has nice legs. Body is a light amber gold in color with great clarity.

S: huge amounts of pine and resin. Very vine like smell.

T: Huge amounts of bitterness very resiny and piney. Almost floral and spicy as well this is like chewing on a hop.

M: Medium bodied decent carbonation, fairly clean beer.

O: This is a nice beer, but it isn't a wow beer. There are better fresh, wet, or harvest beers out there. Although this is one of the more aggressive in its bitterness. Unless you love wet hop beers probably be better to pass on this one. If you like Born Yesterday avoid this one completely.

12 oz. bottle into an IPA glass

A - Beer pours a clear golden color with a 2 finger white, foamy head that dissipate very slowly. Moderately carbonated based on number of bubbles and bubbles rising at a moderate pace. 4.25/5

S - The aroma is very hops dominant with grapefruit, tangerine, mango, papaya, and pineapple all playing a role in a simple but complex aroma. There is a light buttered bread undertone throughout the aroma indicative of the malt presence. 4.25/5

T - A bit of honey and caramelized malt kicks things off but the flavor very quickly transitions to the hops. The hops in the flavor profile mimic that of the aroma by showcasing grapefruit, tangerine, mango, papaya, and pineapple. Right before the finish there is a bready note that breaks up the hop profile. Bitter citrus rind and pine resin finishes off the flavor profile with a lingering, but not overpowering, bitterness on the back end. The end is slightly sweet. 4/5

M - Very light and crisp but with a medium body from the malt that balances out the hoppy lightness. Moderate carbonation burn up front that transitions to a bit of dryness on the back end. Dryness does not necessarily linger (depends on the sip). 4.25/5

O - Simple, but somewhat complex, pale ale that features an array of citrus and tropical fruit notes as well as a malty undertone that evens things out. Sessionable wet hopped ale that stays light throughout the profile. 4.25/5

Poured from a bottle into pint glass in December 2015. Nice that it is dated. Drank about 3 months after "Bottled" date.

Appearance: Golden with tan head. Beer is clear and not cloudy. Head is thin, and leaves a nice film on the glass.

Smell: Aroma filled with a strong hops aroma, and includes citrus and pine smells.

Taste: There is a noticeable hops flavor, as expected from an IPA. There is good bite from the hops along with other flavors like citrus. There is not much sweetness from the malts. The aftertaste provides a variety of flavors over time.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, with medium level of alcohol.

This is a smooth medium-bodied beer. It is an interesting example of an IPA, and it is one the best IPAs I have tried. I would drink this again.

Poured into a pint it has a straw yellow slightly hazy color to it with a white foamy head of 2 and a half inches. Smell of fresh hops, grass, bit of earth, citrus, juicy lemon, slight grapefruit, and a small amount of biscuit malt in the background. Taste is tons of citrus, lemon, a good amount of grapefruit, slight orange, slight spice, earth, grass, some pine, bit of pineapple, lots of biscuit-y malt, and a bit of floral as well. Mouth feel is moderate to full with a good amount of carbonation to make it slightly crisp and the body is moderate. A easy drinking yet hoppy ipa with a nice amount of malt flavor to balance it out, one of my favorite founders offerings.
