For what it is, this a very well executed beer. Looks beautiful, would of liked a tad bit more raspberry on the nose, the taste borders on a sour but then the middle and back end are all raspberry sweetness. I could drink plenty of these, very well done.

On tap rubaeus tastes like a light wheat beer with notes of cherry poured over whipped cream. A pink color with a thick white head that lingers make this an interesting brew, but it falls short of feeling like the intended flavor profile is achieved

Pinkish amber colored beer with a small pinkish white colored head.

Smells of raspberries and malt. Caramel and faint grassy hop scent. But mostly this smells of natural raspberries.

Starts out mildly sweet and tart with the taste of raspberry being the strongest flavor. Fruit tartness not vinegar sour. Mild bitterness but really mostly raspberry.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall a superior Raspberry Ale.

Picked up a nine-pack of cans at the Trig's Cellar 70 in Rhinelander about a week ago. The packaging date states this one is about ten weeks old. Poured right from the fridge into my Founders pint glass.

L: Pours a crystal-clear bright ruby with about an inch of strawberry-tinged eggshell head that dissipates fairly quickly down to a weak thin and ring that leaves almost no lacing on the glass. Mild, lazy visible carbonation present.

S: As advertised, big raspberry bouquet on this one. A touch of cherry and grape notes in the mix, as well. For those familiar with New Glarus' Raspberry Tart, there are some definite similarities, though this one is toned down a bit--not quite as juicy nor tart. The fruits fairly well dominate the nose, but there is a bit of subtle cracker/bready malt underneath. Perhaps a suggestion of grassy hops, as well.

T: A moment of neutral cracker malt at the very front, followed by the perception of tart on the corners of the tongue. Immediately following, the raspberry makes its presence felt--initially fairly tart but mellowing and turning sweet by the back end. The middle brings the tart to a crescendo, with the taste of grape (more precisely, a sweeter wine) at its most insistent: that middle could almost be a red zinfandel. There's some cherry that comes across in the middle as well, and this flavor builds into the back with the raspberry. The close is big fruit: raspberry, cherry, and just a touch of hoppiness, which registers as more astringent than bitter.

F: Lighter-bodied--bright, crisp, just slightly creamy, and astringent in turns. There is a nice level of carbonation to this one that helps brings out the flavors without making it feel like a soda. Light enough to keep it from feeling syrupy, with just enough astringency at the close to remind you there are hops in this one. Quite drinkable.

O: I was a bit skeptical about this beer--maybe it's their advertising campaign--but I needed to pick something up that my wife and mother-in-law might enjoy. This one was a pleasant surprise. It brings a good deal of real fruit flavor to a beer that drinks a little bigger (almost 6% ABV) than similar offerings. I don't think this one is at the same level as the fruit beers that New Glarus makes, but it's certainly worthy of a regular spot in one's summer beer arsenal.

Much better than I expected. Smooth and velvety feel. Raspberry is definitely present and lends the perfect amount of sweetness. A little tart and snappy. Well done.

Definitely bumped up on nitro! Helped the appearance for sure. Smell is on sweet raspberry (duh) and the flavor was actually enhanced by the nitro--it seemed to give the usually thinner fruit beer added dimension. Fun for a sample, even if it's not your usual fare.

Founders has captured the essence of a raspberry inspired ale. Appearance is light red with some head, and plenty of prickly carbonation that works well for this style of beer. Atom is very very fruity with raspberry, strawberry prominently on the nose. Taste starts out sweet with some refreshing balancing tartness, and finishes with a slight hop bite. Mouth feel is medium. Overall, a fantastic take on the style, that I wouldn't mind having on a sunny afternoon out on the patio, or barbecuing with friends.

12oz. can dated 03/09/16

Pours clear bright ruby red with a quickly receding frothy light pink head. Smells like fresh pure raspberries with a hint of malt underneath, and some slight grassy piney hop notes. Tastes pretty sweet, almost like a jolly rancher candy with bright raspberry juice, mild malty cracker undertones, and a slight earthy grassy pine finish. Feels light-medium bodied, creamy with low carbonation. Overall a nice, sweet and tart raspberry ale.

Pours pinkish red, like raspberries, with a raspberry-white chocolate head. Aroma is of fresh picked raspberries in a field of raspberries. Flavor is of raspberry jam, raspberry preserves, raspberry jelly, and a mouthful of raspberries right off the vine. Mouthfeel is slightly sticky but super drinkable. Overall: raspberries.

Deep grapefruit color. Bready, Belgian-type nose meshing well with the raspberries. Taste starts with raspberry,then breadiness mixes in. Slight bitterness comes at the end bringing a fine balance.

A: crystal clear; bronzish pink in color; 1 finger faint pink head that receded quickly to a thin collar; no lacing;

S: raspberry, but not very assertive; definitely a mineral note as well;

t: a lot of raspberry flavor; sweeter up front; a little tartness in the middle; sweeter again on the finish with a little tartness again in the aftertaste; no bitterness;

M: light to medium bodied; moderate, fizzy carbonation;

O: a very good fruit beer;

This "beer" poured out a light purple color with what looked like a cider style drink in the glass. I could tell that there was something added to this beer. The taste was sweet and thick, almost a syrup consistency.

APPEARANCE: A very clear red, with a small amount of tiny bubbles rising. About a half finger of strawberry head that dissipates quickly down to a ring. Very slight lacing left down glass.
AROMA: Prominent raspberry, and an underlying funk or tart quality.
TASTE: Big sweet and tart rasberries. Get a nice funky thing happening underneath...the yeast, IDK?
FEEL: Mild carbonation, slick feel up front, then drying on finish. Medium body.
OVERALL: Would be berry refreshing on a hot day, pun intended. Easy to drink, too.

I really enjoy this beer.
Aroma is very fruity with berries.
Taste is very smooth and fruity. It has a light and crispness that accompanies the fruit.
Really nice deep pink coloring to the beer as well. Not as light though as a normal fruity beer.

I absolutely love this beer. It is delicious and a really easy beer to drink. I also heard that if you mix it with Bells Oarsman ale it is incredible, so I did and it's true. Rubaeus is a beautiful red color when poured and retains a nice foamy head (if poured correctly). It gives a wonderful mouth feel during the first sip, similar to carbonation from pop. It is also a very sweet beer, which I enjoy for nights around a bonfire.

A great choice from Founders and make sure to try it while it is out on the shelves!

This was a great beer. Raspberry flavors give it a nice sweet and slightly sour taste. Bordering on having too much raspberry but I like how sweet that makes it.

Red in color. Smells sweet and like raspberries. Tastes the way that it smells-- sweet and like raspberries. Slightly sour and tart, but the flavors are not overpowering. The raspberry presence is not overpowering either. Overall, sweet, balanced and flavorful.

I was very nervous to try a "fruity" beer because I was worried about the sugar. I was wrong! This beer poured out as a deep red color, reminded me of a rye beer. The head was white and very large but settled quickly. The smell was of raspberry and natural fruits, made my tongue water. The taste was amazing! Natural sugar to complement the raspberry taste, still tasted like a "beer" and not a fruit drink. Very refreshing, I could not get enough! One of my absolute favorites now!

This beer was very good! Probably my favorite Founder's beer. It had a strong berry flavor and was refreshing and pleasant. Although it was strong it went down very easy. Perfect for a warm day!

Had this on draft at Summer House Santa Monica in a Pint. I really wasn't feeling this beer. I do like some fruity beers, but I feel this was way to fruity with nothing there to knock your socks off. You get tremendous amounts of raspberry flavors w/ a kool-aid red color to it. This just didn't do it for me and I probably won't order it again. Overall not my style of a beer.

12 ounce can into a tulip.

Pours raspberry-hued and fizzy. A quick and fizzy head dissipates quickly. Something unique about the fizz and color combination.

Smells a bit funky... Maybe a bit of diaper but it's faint. Nutty and sweet before the tart raspberry arrives.

Taste is a major upgrade from the nose. Much more of what you want/expect from a raspberry ale. Up front is a vanilla, nutty, sweet malt that sets things up nicely for the tart berry.

Up front creaminess, sweet nuttiness, while a tart fruitiness carries throughout. Very light and almost spritzy. Something incredibly easy to drink.

Well now I got the fruit for my diet today. Wow.

I love this - a fruit beer that doesn't say, "Pardon me." More like, "Here I come." This is the latter. It is very pretty in the glass. Ruby red with a VERY nice continuous head. The aroma says fruit salad - with yeast all over it. The taste is a nice sour that never tries to be bitter in any way. Rich and luxurious.

This is an excellent fruit beer and I think I probably should stock up a few sixers.

Vintage 2015 edition. I’ve forgotten this beer in my beercellar and the printing on the bottle says: "best by January 28, 2016" - Time to drink it!

The beer pours hazy with a beautiful red color. Two finger high, white head.

Nose: Sweet raspberry and cherry, very fruity!
Taste: Sweet malt, a little sour taste at the end. Raspberry of course. Tart. Love it!
Mouth: Medium body. Medium, soft carbonation. Sweet and sour.

Wow! I still love this beautiful beer! This bottle is three months "out of date" but it still is GREAT!

Bought a bottle at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. Beer pours with a medium sized head that quickly dissipates to form a ring around the glass. The beer has a clear reddish pink appearance with visible carbonation. Aromas include a sharp raspberry taste that fills the nose. Really rich. Taste follows the nose very well with a very sweet and tart raspberry flavor. Really good carbonation and medium body makes this beer slightly creamy with a crisp carbonation. Overall, I was really blown away by how rich the raspberry flavors were, both in aroma and taste. A really excellent fruit beer.

You can't deny that it's beautifully pinkish red. It smells and taste like rasberry with the lightest and cleanest of base beers. Very thin and quite drinkable with a lightness and faint tartness. Cheers!
