Had this on a nitrogen tap in a chalice glass, beautiful ruby red and hazy with soft pink foam. The smell was all raspberry. Taste is raspberry, then after a moment, the sweet malt presence comes through. Great smooth mouthfeel from the nitro pour, not dry like many fruited beers, a bit of bite from the raspberries. This is my second favorite fruit beer just behind Petreus Aged Red.

Founders' Rubaeus is a tasty raspberry infused brew. From the start you get the sense that you are dealing with an interesting fruit infused beer. The raspberry element of this beer is sort of apparent from the sort of "black cherry" color infusion into the otherwise sort of aley brown look of the beer. The froth is also suggestive of a lighter beer per se, having a bubbly, generous amount of froth associated with the brew.

Right from the start I was reminded of my time in Boston, where I used to have the Harpoon brand hefeweizen, with raspberry infusion, most memorably to go along with some tasty Boston oysters, so needless to say this brew brought back some fond memories per se.

The aftertaste of this brew, though not hoppy as the beers I am used to trying/drinking per se, has a sort of curl of raspberry, almost like a lollipop raspberry(reminiscent of the tart alluring smell of fruit flavored burnt sugar) aftertaste to the tip of the brew's taste. Apart from this sort of taste of raspberry, there is not much aftertaste to speak of per se. Apart from this, the beer is refreshing with its coolness complimented by the raspberry taste per se. One can also slightly sense the lingering raspberry flavor's tartness around the edges of one's tongue per se,.

This is a tasty fruit flavored brew, with a drinkable body, and a refreshing scent and taste. Amongst fruit flavored brews per se, I would rank this as quite a flavorful one, whose tartness really lends it a sort of tasty quality.
Tasty brew all around.

Nice clear pink color with a modest white foamy cap. Strictly raspberry on the nose. Raspberry up front, with a sweet malty backbone and a slightly tart finish. A bit syrupy and sticky. Nice after dinner.

Pours a plump raspberry color with a 1 cm white with a twinge of red head. Head retention is moderate-poor with no lacing left behind. Aroma is very much raspberry, so much so it is tough to pick up other notes. It does have a bit of a puckering-power, lactic twinge. The flavor profile is all raspberry with a bit of malt to make it a little more bold. While it is simplistic in its number of overarching notes, the raspberry flavor does develop throughout the dynamic of the beer. An initial sip is sweet, before fading into a twangy tang sensation and finishing tart and a tad lactic sour. Certainly nothing sour enough to nuke any taste buds. Just a nice zap on the end to make a statement. Mouth feel is smooth, velvety, easy to drink, and slightly filling. An overall medium-thick consistency keeps the texture feeling bold. Overall, it's a great beer. While the raspberry aspect is certainly different, it is done well and kept in balance.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

355ml bottle into a tulip. Paid £3.75 for a single bottle.

Pours a translucent, dark amber-red body, that when held to the light shows a modest amount of fine, visible carbonation. A two-finger in height, foamy, white head reduces quickly to a thin cap and collar, leaving small amounts of soapy lace on the glass.

Sweet, jammy, raspberry puree-like profiles dominate the inviting but relatively simple nose. Traces of malted wheat and earthy hops are faintly perceptible underneath, but undoubtedly play only a supporting role in the overall aroma. Taste follows suit, leading in much the same way with fresh juicy raspberries and a mixture of raspberry and strawberry jam-like sweetness upfront. Lightly bready malts become apparent around the mid-palate, while at the same time, raspberry profiles transition from sweet and fruity to mildly tart, tangy and faintly acidic. In the mouth, a medium to full body and moderately lively carbonation give a reasonably smooth and slick feel, despite starting a tad syrupy. Towards the end, hints of hop bitterness and earthy, seed-like nuttiness provide excellent balance to the initially sweet start, somewhat redeeming the mouth-feel by finishing, clean, crisp and slightly dry.

Overall this is a very good beer. The body could be slightly lighter, and as expected, taste is predominately dominated by the added fruit. Unlike many in the style however, it does capture a natural flavour, balancing both sweet and tart raspberry profiles incredibly well, and contains enough complexity to maintain interest without effecting drinkability. Recommended.
