12oz bottle purchased as a single at Julio's, Westboro, MA.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 5" blush-hued head over the 1/2" of raspberry-tinged amber brew. Head fades very slowly, I had dinner while it receded, with heavy, frothy lacing as expected with such a head. Aroma is something to behold, effervescent raspberries dominant. Taste is the same berries upfront, mellows with some malt body, and then closes with a bit of a sour tinge. Mouthfeel is not quite as smooth as I had hoped/expected, and seemed a bit over-carbonated, but still not bad. Drinkability was somewhat limited by how long it took to get in the glass. Not a bad fruit brew, but I've had better.

Not sure how I missed the memo on this one's release, never get blindsided by Founders brews. Reviewed from notes last week after having this a few times.

A- Dark red body with a fizzy off-white head that gets some pink from the beer beneath it. The cap dies down pretty quickly after making it to about one finger high. Very spotty lacing. Head retention not utterly surprising but still mediocre in such a fruity beer.

S- Pure raspberry jam and preserves. Really not much going on besides that, like a sweet jelly of raspberries. Some very light malts and yeast hints.

T- Fairly sweet raspberry bomb hits the palate. Some slight tartness is quite welcoming considering the sweetness and how fruit forward this is. Slightly grassy hops and very light malts.

MF- Creamy light end body with a higher-end foamy carbonated feel. Sweetness remains on the palate with some tartness, but not much. Feels a bit thin.

Kind of in the same vein as Cerise but for some reason the raspberry doesn't come through as pure as the cherries did in certain batches. At least the fruit feel is authentic.

Appearance- Pours an eggshell colored head with good retention. A little spritzy looking, but thats ok. Leaves islands of foam in the center and outskirts of my drink. Colro is a bright yet slightly muted ruby.

Smell- A good amount of real rasberry smell with hints of lemons and wheat.

Taste- Starts out with some rasberry seltzer water notes, but quickly get a good syrupy pop of real rasberry flavor. Intermingled with said rasberries is a seltzer quality that I can't ignore along with some natural notes.

Mouthfeel- The carbonation allows for a pleasant and refreshing tonic water beer. Good for deserts and night caps. Especially with the ladies.

Gained this bottle as an extra in one of my early trades, now lost in the mists of time & dozens of other trades, with beerisheaven. Only now rescued from the back of the fridge as my annual lust for a fruit beer has mysteriously struck.

Not surprisingly, this beer looks & smells like a raspberry.

Holy Bartles & James wine coolers. I'm having unholy flashbacks to Colorado, circa 1989, & being the only guy "grandfathered" into the liquor laws & thus being able to buy alcohol with extremely low ABVs, the primary purpose of which was to make you pee, a lot. We used to ride our bikes into Castle Rock, 25 mile round trip (yes I just looked on Mapquest), just to put a bunch of beer & wine coolers in our tents for the weekend. Damn, we were hard back then.

Oh, yeah, the beer at hand. Seriously. Wine cooler. If this wasn't Founder's, I do believe they'd be roundly mocked for making an updated version of the wine cooler. Tastes light & springy & fruity, without a hint of alcohol or beer on the tonuge.

And that can't be bad. Thanks Brian for the trip down memory lane!

12oz (2008 release). Figured I'd better get it now before you can't anymore. Poured a cloudy reddish-pink; loses color saturation at the edges of the glass. Small raspberry and yeast particles float throughout - rather nice to look at actually. Rigorous pour produced a bubbly white head that dissipated quickly. Aromas were tart raspberries - that's it. Tastes were also tart raspberries with a nice biscuity malt backbone providing excellent balance and drinkability. Had this back-to-back with Cerise and I prefer this one, although they are similar. Refreshing with the alcohol well-concealed.

Pours a sexy garnet with a thin head into my glass. Love the color. Love the idea that it's a break from the usual hoppy beers.

Aroma is full of raspberries and precious little else. In other words, it's not one of those fake fruit beers that are atypical of the season.

The taste backs up my assertion there. Luscious raspberry flavor that grabs your taste buds by the throat (ok, that was cliche). Pretty damn tasty regardless.

Ditto on the mouthfeel. Nothing but raspberries all around.

This beer was made for mixing with other beers. I have seen examples of it being mixed with imperial stouts, etc. You could drink it straight but it might bore your taste buds over time. Either way, it's definitely worth a purchase!

Red grapefruit colour, hazy, topped by white foam with a pink cast. Smells like... raspberries! But still definitely beer. There's a bit of maltiness that comes through in the aroma. Starts with a little malty sweetness, but that's quickly overshadowed by a tart flavour that's not overly acidic. Dry overall with some fruity sweetness throughout. Slightly syrupy texture and ample carbonation. Long finish that tastes like you just finished eating some raspberries. Quite a nice fruit beer, not overly sweet with a good acidity level.

bottle picked up locally, enjoyed from my CBS snifter. beer poured a fairly watery pink. thin foamy head fizzed away as quick as it appeared. streaky spotty lacing left traces of where the beer was on the glass as i sipped it. smell is raspberry. taste matches the nose but is rather thick. a face full of fresh berries. feel is on the thick side. beer is fresh fruit. new glarus has nothiung to worry about, but this is far from the worse veggie beer i've tried. a nice break from cerise, but a bit on the syrupy side...enjoyable though. glad to have a 4 pack and might need to seek out another.

Red color with no head whatsoever.
Predominant raspberries aroma with a caramel backing up. Hints of vinegar.
Flavor full of raspberries with pleasant tartness and salt notes. Although it does not seem like, it is quite malty. Hints of white wine, pear and a bit something like the flowery Indian drink Gulab Sharbat. Dry aftertaste.
Medium body with low carbonation.
Not a heavy sour, it is a friendly Fruit beer, but by no means boring, especially if you like the style once in a while.
I would like to taste it a bolder version, tuning up other than raspberries notes, or unbalancing it a bit.

Served on tap in a snifter

Appearance – The beer is served a ruby red color with hints of darker mahogany mixed within. Upon serving there is a pink tinted head floating atop the brew. The head fades over a moderate amount of time, leaving a great level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is sweet and fruity with tons of raspberry aroma filling the nose. Along with the raspberry are some other lighter blueberry notes as well as some tart cherry smells. Overall it is very sweet and tart, smelling very much like a Lambic.

Taste – The taste begins with a big raspberry sweetness mixed with just a hint of tart cherry. As the flavor advances the souress increases with it taking on a little bit of a lactic acid taste. While the sourness increases, so too does the raspberry flavor largely overpowering any cherry that was present upfront. In the end some candy sweetness comes to the tongue balancing out the sour just enough to leave a very pleasant, sweet and raspberry fruit sour candy taste on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner and crisper side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. The higher carbonation and thinner body are great for the combination of sweet and sour making it very easy to drink.

Overall – A rather tasty fruit beer with a decent sour characteristics. It is very much like a more affordable slightly less tart Lindeman’s framboise. Overall, quite tasty.
