Hazy reddish color with pinkish head. Aroma has quite natural raspberry juice notes and some sweet malt. Taste starts slightly tart and sweet, fruity, quite tasty. Overall it's a quite good fruity beer but a bit too sweet for my taste.

Glowing ruby that trails. 4
Raspberries! Seed, flesh, + skin. 4.25
Doughy fullness, a touch of tart, luscious jammy fruitiness, and a grassy cut. 4.5
Medium and then some, round, chewy. 3.75

A bit unctuous - needs fizz or acid to cut it. But that’s a tiny flaw in this gem of a beer. Deep, mellow, round - champion. 4.25

2015 bottle opened August 5, 2016.
Opaque reddish-brown with nice lacing and thick ring of bubbles around the edge. Head leaves a thin film on the surface as well.
The smell is almost all raspberry and is sweet and jammy. There's some Belgian yeast and brown sugar on the nose as well, plus a hint of sourness, but the raspberries definitely dominate.
Flavor is sweeter than the smell would suggest. The tart raspberries prevent it from being cloyingly sweet, but it's close.
The mouthfeel is what you would expect from such a fruity, jammy beer: it's syrupy. It suits the style, but it's hard to drink more than a few ounces of this beer.
Overall, I like the beer a lot. Founders did a great job of integrating the raspberries into it. The tartness helps to keep everything in balance through the first glass, but I feel like I may need a shot of insulin if I have a second.

This is a supped up version of Rubaeus and it does not disappoint. The raspberry flavors more that match the higher alcohol content to create a fantastic drinking experience. This is a great summertime beer that will be sure to impress.

Draft pour into glass. Very nice ruby color w modest carbonation and small head. Raspberry notes imminate from the glass w floral notes. Tart yet sweetness w hints of honey. Flavor lingers with some lacing on the palate. If you like raspberry, this ones for you !

I pulled this one out of the cellar to share with my wife and oldest daughter who just returned from spending her junior year of college in Rome. Good experience for her, not so much for the wallet…

Poured into a glass, the beer is a darkish red with just a skim of beige foam and lacing.

It has a big aroma of raspberries, bready malts and floral notes.

It is sweet with lots of raspberries, a hint of honey, flowers, and cracker like malts. I like how it turns a touch sour mid-glass and that adds a nice bit of balance.

The mouth is slick with lower than expected carbonation.

I liked this beer, for me it is a great one to split as I couldn’t finish a whole bomber in one sitting.

Poured on tap at Cask & Vine.

Pours a deep reddish color with a beautiful pinkish white head. Ridiculous lacing.

The aroma is tart raspberries with a touch of booze.

The taste follows the nose. Sweet and lightly tart raspberries with a solid pale malt backbone.

The feel is full bodied, sticky, with lingering tartness.

Overall an interesting and good beer. A little sweet for my tastes but still good.

Deep red color, small head. Raspberry aroma, smells like it will be tart.
Tastes like jam up front, then fades to a light tart. Sweet then sour, awesome.
Thick, smooth mouthfeel.

Honestly surprising at just how much raspberry flavor comes through. Some complain it's too sweet and syrupy. Perhaps on its own, but paired with a dessert, savoury or sweet, this would definitely crush.

This was a surprise live up to the hype. The smell the taste the color all excellent. Now I wish I had more than just the one bottle. I hope they release this again in the very near future.

Had this at Founders Taproom the other day.

L: deep reddish purple, small amount of white head
S: intense raspberry scent
T: delicious berry flavor, both sweet & sour
F: medium body, lighter carbonation

Pretty similar to Rubaeus, but this one's better in my opinion. I generally don't like fruity beers, but this one (along with Rubaeus) are pretty enjoyable.

From notes. 750mL (2015) into a tulip. Pours a hazy pomegranate w/ a minimal head.

Aroma is a blend of sweet raspberry and a touch of stomach acid.

Taste is bright, fruity and sour. Nice balance of elements.

Mouthfeel is smooth, medium bodied, with a sharp acidic bite on the finish.

Overall a fruity, sweet sour beer. Not sure this one is for me.

Very interesting beer. Fruity and enjoyable but nothing I would get too excited about. Worst trying but probably not worth the price. Founders isn't quite up to the rating once again.

Waaaay too sweet. Ridiculous, if i didnt know any better id say i was drinking a raspberry cider, there is no beer characterists about this one, not to mention belgian style characteristics. It smells like cider, and taste like it too, ick. On the plus side the mouthfeel and appearence are quite nice but i want to drink my beer, not look at it! Drainpour!!

22 oz bottle was poured into a stemmed chalice glass.

Appearance: A one finger pink head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a dark crimson color with no vision of anything.

Smell: Raspberries, raspberries, raspberries. Very dominant aroma with bready, pale malts, and slight booze.

Taste: Raspberries dominate the flavor. Nice malt bill, slight booze, tart, and pucker notes in there too.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, a little dry, raspberry sweetness, medium carbonation, tart, and pucker.

Overall: This beer is definitely a sipper due to the raspberry dominance and sweetness. Sharing a bottle next time around.

This beer pours a dark reddish purple color with a nice off white head. Very little retention and spotted lacing. Smell is raspberry wineish, some booze present. Taste is the same, way too sweet. Feel is light with good carbonation and booze is definitely apparently. Overall not for me at all. Pass.

Founders Brewing tap takeover at Fireworks in Leesburg on 11/17/15. Cherry in color, almost no head. Overpowering raspberry aromas, smooth on the tongue, no tarrness, very sweet. Can't drink a ton at one sitting but great in small pours

On tap at BC's Pizza & Beer

A: Pours dark ruby red with a frothy deep magenta pink head that settles to a thin layer and leaves a little light lacing.

S: Sweet raspberry juice, faint citrus and spice, maybe a little honey.

T: Tons of sweet raspberry juice, faint spice, a bit tart, maybe a little honey, with a touch of alcohol than can come out as it warms.

M: A bit on the heavier end of medium body, moderate carbonation. Very drinkable.

O: The first few sips are fantastic, but after a while it just turns into sneaky dangerous raspberry juice. I wish there was something else there, more malt or Belgian yeast presence to counter all the raspberry. I'm glad I got to try it on tap because I can't say I'd shell out the big $ for a full bomber.

Founder's Blushing Monk, Belgian style ale brewed with raspberries. 9.2% ABV.

A: Rich plum in the glass, with pale pink in the dimple, and pinkish cream colored head. Tons of tiny bubbles slowly cascade down the side, until the lacing forms, thinly.

S: Raspberry doughnut filling, with light sweet dough backing.

T/MF: Raspberry, with a deep, dark malt backing. Seems dry at first, compared to the aroma, but it's actually fairly sweet. That seems to be from a strong raspberry seed influence on the beer.

Poured from a 750mL bottle, into a Belgian tulip glass

Not the most attractive beer, but for the style it works. It leaves the bottle with a maroon color, but cloudier than I remember Rubaeus being. As it warms and settles a bit, a brownish hue begins to present. The head is white, not large, and fleeting...non-descript.

Smells like what I imagine raspberry wine would smell like. Again, not a fan, but what else should it smell like?

It tastes like tart raspberries mixed with a splash of vinegar. Reminds me of a few krieks I've poured down the drain.

Extreme tartness. There is an initial sweetness before the tart explosion, but mixed with the high carbonation (why is the head so lame with such carbonation), the tartness is almost overpowering. Lurking in the background is that 9.2% ABV creating s bit of heat.

I like raspberries, but this is too much raspberry. I appreciate the high alcohol, hopefully it helps me with all 22 ounces.

My wife likened Blushing Monk to a raspberry soda with some alcohol mixed in. I tend to agree with that description.
I found Blushing Monk to be a little too think and syrupy.

Look: pours a beautiful raspberry red, little bit of a white head

Smells- fresh crushed raspberry, little medicinal character

Taste- a little too much "cough medicine" quality for my taste. warm alcohol flavor.

Feel- nice carbonation

Overall- a little too sweet and cough syrupy for me

Gorgeous looking--clear, dark ruby red with minimal white head. Smell is dominated by raspberries. Taste is sweet raspberries with some bready malt on the finish and a little alcohol burn. Tastes more like raspberry syrup than fresh raspberries. The sweetness is overwhelming, and, unlike New Glarus's fruit beers, this is kind of heavy and oppressive to boot.
