Notes / Commercial Description:
For those of you familiar with the Solid Gold we’ve featured in our taproom for years, this is not the same beer. Our Brewmaster, Jeremy, completely revamped the recipe and it now features lager yeast, corn and lemondrop hops for just the right hit of flavor. Our take on a classic, Solid Gold is a drinkable golden lager brewed with the highest quality ingredients. Challenging what a lager can be? That’s something we won’t regret.

Poured into a narrow glass: color is gold, quite solidly, head is brighter white with fine bubbles, it quickly dissipates and leaves some spots on the glass.

Smell is light malt, hint of corn, grassy hops with some sharpness, fairly prominent hop aroma.

Taste is similar with a bit more hop presence and sweetness from the malts - light toast, then some sweet corn and light fruity flavor; hops are earthy and crisp.

Mouthfeel is quite sharp, bittering hops and carbonation leave a strong presence on the tongue.

Overall a slightly sweet, notably bitter adjunct lager - earthy/grassy hops, corn and bread sum up this brew but the carbonation level is just a bit much.

I'm a big fan of founders. PC Pils is one of my favorites. This one, however, is an Adjunct beer. There is only so good that you can be when you add corn or rice to a beer. Is it better than Budweiser? Yes. Is it a lot better? Not really. It is not unpleasant, but it is Bland, flat, and kind of tasteless. Ice cold on a hot day, this would not be objectionable, but I can't see every buying this again with so many other great beers out there.

Little over a finger of standard white foam, so airy that it takes only a few seconds to fully dissipate, as you’d expect after that there’s zero lacing. Hazy bronze hued liquid, invitingly holds light inside the glass, naught but the most random of bubbles visible. Cracker, sandwich bread, suggestion of quinine to sparkling mineral water, spicy with a solid mat foundation, the basic peach, apricot fruit scents come through clearly, finishes with a waft of lemon. Medium-bodied, no lightweight and you feel it through to the finish. More citrusy here and the graininess brings more roughness than breadiness, the corn element moderately present. Yeasty aftertaste. Green hay or straw more than hoppy herbaceousness. Carbonation is steady, good level for overall feel. Same thing with the fruit here, apricot, apple, peach subtly present, light dab of molasses to it. To this imbiber lagers can be hard to assess because it’s more about the whole than the sum of the parts which lend themselves better to analysis. But this one is solid, tasty and not wimpy, could drink a few ice cold at a ball game or such.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass at Beer Head Pub in Schaumburg, IL. The appearance is a slightly hazy gold color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is malt driven with grain. The taste is a basic AAL

Tough to judge this one, its okay but a little weak. Body is just a little thin but the carbonation is a nice amount for the style.
Aroma is not overpowering, grain/cereal, floral/grass. Taste is similar, but a bit stronger and pleasing than the aroma. Grain , with a mild floral hop bite, very, very mild hop bite.
I got this to serve at a party for craft and non craft beer drinkers and it was a perfect middle ground beer

Picked up a 6 pack of this at Winco bc why not, you know how you're always around people who like beer less than you? And you know how its summertime and lagers are especially good in the summer? And how Founders is one of the best breweries out there?

Pours a light color, looks amazingly like Budweiser, which is a fine looking beer, top of tops in clarity, nice 1/2" white head, decent retention. The aroma was lagery without any skunkiness.

Taste offers a light bodied, barley meets corn levels of levity with a mild sweetness behind it. Hopping is low and customary for style, but with a different (lemondrop) variety to give it a slightly unique twist. I'm enjoying beers like this more and more, especially in this hot ass summer down by the river and on the softball field. Would recommend, these don't last long.

Taste: mildly grainy, bready, malt, thin but smooth finish. Same with the nose. bright gold hue, mostly clear, with soapy head and not much defined lace. Light body. 20 IBUs
