An imperial IPA that was brewed to turn your world upside down. Hops will get you coming and going. Pungent aromatics up front pair with a malt-balanced backbone and a smooth, bitter finish.

Love this label! Founders does it again with a killer presentation that reflects the good energy put into the outside as much as the inside. Much appreciated.
Pours into my Garre sampling glass a clear golden orange color. Much lighter than i anticipated for a DIPA. Somehow it works and makes me even thirstier for what appears to be a honey-nectar brew. A small light head froths up and quickly settles into a spotty cap resembling the glue left on a bottle with the label peeled off. Small spotty lacing creep up the sides of the glass.
On first smell I'm bowled over by the tropical fruit flavors, reminiscent of, shall I dare say it...Hopslam: melon, passionfruit, ripe grapefruit, mandarin orange, pineapple that blends into a stronger aged cheddar cheese. Again, somehow it works really well. A really subtle, but welcome, alcohol note permeates deep down giving some warmth but not enough to overtake the more delicate fruit and floral aromas on top. Truly bouquet-like!
The flavor is equally light, refreshing but complex and nice. Flavor starts light and sweet with a good citrus hop flavor. The pale malt flavors compliment the soft fruit hop notes. Slight honey and warming alcohol move the beer toward the middle palate. At this point the fruit flavors really come out: cantaloupe, melon, mango resting on top of a more aggressive pine hop flavor. The beer finishes like a fresh grapefruit juice, tart, quenching and asking to be drank. The alcohol is very well hidden which makes it even more exciting to drink.
Mouthfeel is right on. Clean, crisp, light on the palate but full in character. Moves through the mouth extremely well and carries the flavors on an active carbonation base.
A great beer from Founders, well done. Will definitely look for more of this!

355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.4%, 86 IBUs. Surprisingly pale golden colour, probably the palest American double IPA I’ve seen. Big to moderate white head. Distinct but still relatively moderate aroma of citrussy and piney American hops, also notes of caramel and orange marmalade. The flavour is of course very hoppy from start to finish, but not really extreme. The grapefruity bitterness is partly balanced by a pronounced malty sweetness. Notes of caramel and orange marmalade again. Very bitter aftertaste.

Hazed, amber/gold appearance with a medium size head and decent lacing. Subtle aroma; coaxed out some tropical fruit that resembled mango. Hoppy flavor leaned more resinous than citrus and was well balanced by the modestly sweet, malty backbone. Lush aftertaste.
