355ml bottle bought from Beermerchants.com

Poured a golden orange colour. Slightly off white head poured quite big and foamy then faded fairly quickly to wispy covering with thick edging... no carbonation at all... light patchy lacing...

Aroma - Lots of (over) ripe tropical fruits (pineapples, limes, mangoes, grapefruits), strong piney resin, citrus and grassy hops, some rubberiness, floral honey, very perfumed, oaky traces, some vanilla, faint chalky notes, light almond nuttiness...

Taste - Lots of strong piney and citrusy hop bitterness to the fore with some medicinal notes in the background, quite herbal - hints of basil and rosemary, very floral and perfumed, sweet malts come through after the hops, very spicy and juicy fruits (grapefruits, limes, sour apples, pears), some chalkiness, faint vegetal traces...

M&D - Fairly smooth with a little oiliness in the background then some sharpness comes through... medium bodied... probably couldn't drink too many of these in one sitting...

Overall - An excellent and very well balanced DIPA... recommended...

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a DFH modified Tulip.
Pours a hazy copper/orange with about an inch of white foam.

The nose is the first indication that this is a solid brew, sweet citrus with a strong hop presence...by now my mouth is watering...time to drink!

Double Trouble absolutely showcases what I love about Double IPAs , strong bold flavor! I get notes of pineapple , grapefruit and oranges, layered with a perfect balance of hop bitterness. The 9.4 abv is hidden well.

Mouthfeel is perfect carbonation, a juicy resinous feel with the finish of dry bitterness, as if you licked an aspirin.(sounds weird, but best description I could think of...I like it!)

Overall, this is easily one of my favorite beers. The 2013 release blew previous years away in my opinion. Up beside over DIPAs, DT stands strong! I'm thinking that 9.4 abv is the magic number, I like this as much as Stone's Enjoy by and Great lakes Alchemy hour...both also 9.4.
Hats off to Founders, great brew!
