As smooth and drinkable a bourbon barrel I've ever had. Perfect for the one-beer sipping night.

Description: A deep ruby, leathery brown color with only a few tiny bubbles; no real head. Cloudy and opaque. Smell is bourbon, oak, sweet malts, dark fruit (raisin, plum) and earthy undertones. Taste is similar to smell with big notes of bourbon, oak and dark fruit. Not a subtle flavor profile at all, but there is some vanilla in the background and a little bit of bitterness on the finish. Feel is fantastic. Thick and velvety without being syrupy or heavy.

Suggested food pairing: Roast pork with mashed potatoes

If you like this beer then you should also try: Wulver or Curmudgeon

Overall: 4.5 (This beer is very good and I would definitely drink it again) This is pure Founders: big, bold taste from start to finish. Heavy notes of bourbon and oak but not so heavy that they drown out everything else. The beer is smooooooth, almost like a stout but not syrupy. It could have used a little more earthiness or vanilla, but overall a fantastic beer.
