Notes: We love cocktails. Like, really love them. If you ask us, few are more refreshing than the tart and tangy margarita and our latest barrel-aged beer pays tribute to that perennial classic. We took an imperial gose brewed with agave, lime and sea salt and then aged it in tequila barrels for just the right amount of kick. Consider it a party in a bottle. Más Agave!

6 month old bottle. Like drinking a zesty boozy lemon lime soda. Cloudy copper color with minimal lacing. Smell is strong lemon lime with agave barrel presence. Taste is strong lime and tequila, tangy, fruity, boozy, and salty -it’s like drinking a damn tasty margarita. Medium body, surprisingly mouth watering, amazingly hidden booze presence, as it tastes like a four percent abv. Loved drinking it over the summer, still amazing now. One of the best new beers of the year.

Bottled 4/23/19; drank 5/28/19 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque dull orange appearance; champagne bubbles throughout.

A violent pour yielded a big khaki head; frothy lace.

Straight up margarita notes in the nose, with perhaps a bit of caramel.

Medium thick, sticky mouthfeel.

Again, straight up margarita flavors, with a hint of caramel. Easier than mixing your own, I guess?

Not bad, but just have a damn margarita.

Very interesting beer - I'm not a big fan of the gose style, and have had one too many tequila-laded margaritas that have turned me off to that type of liquor. Yet this was not bad. Looks good, nice golden-light amber color with some nice fluffy white head and spotty lingering lacing. Definitely smells of tequila, some wood, lime, sea salt, faint tart fruit flavors. Taste follows the nose, and the sweet lime helped to balance the stronger salinity and tequila/margarita flavors. A little strong and overpowering, and you could definitely feel the higher ABV hit in the finish. Smooth, mild mouthfeel and decent carbonation. Not a bad beer, just happens to be a marriage of two styles that I'm not particularly fond of, but I'll try almost anything Founders puts out - especially in their Barrel-Aged series.

Margarita. It's a margarita beer. I'm not sure what else is really necessary to say here. If you like margaritas, you'll really dig this beer. If not, you might still enjoy it. Dunno.

Poured at 55 degrees. Honey color. A cloudy look with a half inch head that stayed with the brew for a while. There are strong lime notes here. It struck me as sweet, with a sour forward taste. I have 3 more left, so I'll taste it again to get a better Idea.

Pours an amber/orange with a finger of head. Relatively translucent, almost opaque. Some floating particulate suspended within the liquid. Head dissipates quickly.

Nose is lime tartness, bready caramel malt, sweetness similar to honey but not quite, and a slight tinge of something I can't quite put my finger on. That must be the agave, being as I'm pretty unfamiliar with it. A bit of tropical quality as well, reminiscent of coconut. As something that sits a little out of my comfort zone, I find this quite enjoyable. A little bit of clashing but lime tends to do that.

Taste follows the nose. Lime first with the sourness lingering, really bready malt character, that tropical note coming back. And finally I taste the wood and tequila. Very mild and smooth, showing up somewhere in the middle between the initial lime punch and the malt outro. As a ten percent-er, this beer doesn't show it. But it is on the sweet side so be careful regardless.

Mouthfeel has a medium to full bodied quality. It has a heavy, sticky, dense feel to it. Bubbles flash and fade very quickly. It has a nice presence that doesn't last long enough on the pallete leaving you with a syrupy feeling that could become too much.

An enjoyable brew. Being unfamiliar with a lot of elements in this, my entry and observance can be taken with a grain of salt. This should probably be enjoyed cold on a hot day.

12 oz bottle from mom's beer fridge
North Coast snifter

Burnt orange color with a thin ring of head that diminishes to nothing

Aromas of orange popsicle and margarita with an emphasis on tequila.

Flavor is sour apple sucker, caramel, watermelon, tequila, salt, and margarita.

Feel is mildly carbonated, alcohol burn, and medium bodied.

Overall it's a really good barrel aged beer. Would buy.
