A_Pours hazy orange with a bone white head.Thick, sticky lacing coats the glass nicely.

S_Grassy,earth hops.

T_Surprised too see only 35 IBU's. Crisp and bitter. Grassy floral hops up front. Slightly sweet finish.

M_Light but full bodied. Crisp finish.

D_Great beer for hot weather.Great flavor and easy to drink.

Great example of a "boring" style that I think is often over looked. (Myself included.)

I've had many dry hopped APAs and IPAs, and this was my least enjoyable. The nose is decent with a floral, slightly citrus aroma. You can taste a hint of malt, grains, orange and lemon but all are eventually overwhelmed by a dry, slightly chewy citrus flavor that almost tastes like a powder. Couldn't finish the bottle.

Surprisingly clean, crisp, and refreshing. Akin to a German pilsner. Very drinkable. Much lighter in flavor than a typical APA. Overall, a surprising find and very enjoyable beer.

Hazy orange-amber with an impressive amount of yeast in suspended animation. The cap is small, even after a pretty aggressive pour, and is bone white in color. It persists nicely, though, eventually falling to a thick film and leaving a moderate amount of lace in tries-to-be-rings.

The aroma is surprisingly citrus zest hoppy, approaching an IPA in terms of character and intensity. I like the flavor quite a bit. Like the nose, it's definitely on the hoppy end of the pale ale scale. The grapefruitiness of the Cascade hops is dominant and adds a resinous, medium strength bitterness.

Founders Pale Ale is a 'tweener' and would be a good bridging beer to move people from pale ales to more strongly hopped IPAs. There's a solid pale malt presence, but it's easily overshadowed by the hops. The finish is extended, allowing the lupulins to shine for as long as possible. The mouthfeel is more than solid and edges into mini-IPA territory.

This is immensely enjoyable and drinkable beer. I also have a few Centennial IPAs in my beer fridge. They should be a real treat after tasting what Founders has done with Pale Ale. Thanks to deejaydan for the bottles.

I have been meaning to review this one for quite some time. One of those brews that I passed by many times and never decided to pick up. Glad I did! To me- this is a really nice sessionable Pale Ale. It is not completely outstanding, but it definitely has some serious flavors and texture going on.

A- Massive head. Don't know if this was a singular bottle issue but the head was about half the glass. Hazy murky orange color. Sediment and lacing around the glass.

S- Big whiff of piney hops combined with a lemony citrus afterbite. Fresh and pleasant.

T- Surprised by the caramel flavors, I was expecting more hops. The hops were very fresh- grassy and piney.

M- Yum! Smooth and silky. Medium bodied. Easy going down.

D- Big time session beer for me. Truly a pleasure to sip. Easy drinking.

A- Pours a semi-cloudy straw color. Soft off-white head of about an inch that quickly recedes to a thin cap. A little sticking going on. Very nice lace.

S- Grassy and floral hop aromas up front. A slight breadiness in there also. Not too much else, but it's pretty nice.

T- The hop flavors seem a little subtle, but they're there. Again, floral and grassy.

MF/D- Medium bodied with a good feel from the carbonation level. Drinkability is amazing. I'd have no problem having another. A very good pale ale.

This sucker had a four finger, rocky head in my pint glass. It took a while to die down, and an eighth inch layer of foam persisted. It was a deep yellow brew with lots of floaters.

Aroma was grassy and floral, with a definite hit of raw hops. There was a firm caramel malt backbone.

The taste was slightly bitter, with raw hops, a hint of pine, and a hint of sweetness in the aftertaste that mingled with a lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel was quite good. Not too heavy, a little chewy, melded quite well with the hops.

Drinkability was excellent. I would definitely get this one again. An excellent session beer.

12oz bottle poured into my Russian River pint. March bottling, based on the notch on the label

A: Light orange with a thin white head that recedes leaving a nice lacing

S: Sweet in a way that reminds me of a medicine that i used to take for an upset tummy - i'd almost describe it as calcium sulfate. There's a thin malt presence to this.

T: Starts off with a sweet hop flavor that then then turns rather chalky, like a candy cigarette. The finish is a tad dry.

M: I like the carbonation and the dryness on this one

D: I wonder if this is an off bottle - the medicinal tastes are strange. I'm not going to find out tonight.

This is the first BIG clunker I've had from Founder's :-(

Presentation: 12oz brown pop top, cool label, best-by date

Appearance: Just slightly hazy dark gold beer with orange tints; A strong pour produces a nice fluffy ivory cap with good retention

Smell: Mild biscuity malts and fruity Cascades. Simple and tasty.

Taste: Medium-bitter, citrusy Cascade hops mingle with earthy, lightly toasted malts. Fairly easy-drinking. This sounds kind of dumb, but this kind of reminds me of an English Pale Ale with the Goldings or Fuggles chucked out in favor of Cascades.

Mouthfeel: Light side of medium

Drinkability: Good

Conclusion: Good, simple American Pale Ale. The hop aromas are prevalent, but if I didn't know this was dry-hopped I probably wouldn't have picked up on it. Solid quaffer, but at $10 for a sixer, there are several I'd pick up ahead of this one.
