Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 12.40%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Previously known as Hand of Doom.

Doom may be impending but that doesn't mean you have to fear it. A collision of worlds, the intense hop character of our Imperial IPA mingles with the warm vanilla and oak notes imparted from the time spent in our favorite bourbon barrels. Like all good things, Doom comes to those who wait.

Doom pours a copper color, with a small, lacing head. Oakey aroma, lots of earth. Taste has a nice bourbon flavor, with hints of oak, and an earthy hop flavor. Good body and fell. Overall, big on the barrel flavors, less on the IPA, very interesting and very good.

The long awaited Doom. Poured from 12oz short bottle into Snifter. Bottled on April 25th 2017.

L: Gorgeous amber nice and clear, the perfect color. Finger width white head has decent retention and eventually leaves an island of bubbles and a nice ring. Delicate lacing. Perfection.

S: Lots of bourbon in the aroma with good vanilla in there as well. Some piney hops come through with grapefruit in tow. Smells very good.

T: Very different. Mostly bourbon and vanilla up front, with some pine and citrus hops coming through but not a lot. Really really well done. The bourbon and vanilla flavors are simply superb. Even a hint of oak and char with some maple syrup.

F: Medium-Full body, lower carbonation with a semi-dry finish. Super smooth with the bourbon.

O: I was very excited for this beer and I was still blown away. Founders is the king of Barrel-Aging. Simply amazing beer.

Pours a dark yellow color with an average white head. Smell is hoppy and boozy citrus. Taste is the same with a strong bourbon aftertaste. Mouthfeel is lighter than expected. Overall a beer that lives up to the hype.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a speiglau BA glass.

Look is a reddish amber like a mahogany with a thin bubbly head.

Definite grapefruit on the aroma with a little pine and vanilla from the bourbon at the end.

Taste exactly matches aroma. A lot more aggressive hopping than I imagined.

Truly excellent

Outstanding. Quite impressive. An aggressive piney IPA with strong grapefruit finish lingering burbon and vanilla through the nose...

Easy beer to review. ....
Looks OK
Smells OK
Tastes OK
And it goes down pretty easily.
Overall...can't figure out why it's $15 for a four pack. I'll stay with Imperial stout and Breakfast stout.
A huge disappointment.
