No label information. Cerise is brewed in the style of a Fruit ale based on cherry. Previously available in summer seasonal 12 oz. 4 packs and on draft, this beer has been retired in lieu of Rubæus, and unavailable since 2012.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a Founders snifter. Served above 51º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a creamy ecru-champagne head of a frothy consistency over a murky, dense maple body. Retention is below average, lacing is light and spotty. 2.75

(Smell) The cherry aroma is upfront, slightly syrupy and tart over a moderate syrupy body. The aroma is very sweet. Potency is moderate. There isn't a lot going on with the aroma of this beer, but as far as cherry ales go, the aroma of this one is perhaps as inviting as it gets, with a decent blend of cherry syrup and tart cherry juice. 3.25

(Taste) Sweet, syrupy cherry flavor with an underlying tartness. The malt profile is a bit mushy and faded by this point, but the cherry flavor pushes on boldly. Finishes slightly dry and metallic. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) Texture is dry, acidic, slightly syrupy. Carbonation generates a soft fizz for a mildly crisp mouthfeel. Body is medium/heavy for the style, medium/heavy overall. Balance is slightly sweet over tart. Alcohol presence is moderate, some mild oxidation properties of cardboard and medicine are creeping in at this point. 3.5

(Drinkability) It's no more nor less fruity than Rubæus, boldly fruity nonetheless. Expect a lot of sweet and tart cherry character over a lighter malt body. Expect the worst if you find a bottle of this at any store, as it has been discontinued for over two years as I write this, and is almost certainly a shell of its former self. 3.5

The pour is a dark blood red with a head that has a pink hue. Nose is cherries, green vegetables, and stale cereal. Taste is a bit stronger cherry, gets a touch medicinal. Finish is slightly tart, a big syrupy body and moderate carbonation. Not the best fruited beer.
