Disclaimer: This review is purposely very specific in order to expose areas in which I, as the reviewer of the beer, may have a personal bias which does not necessarily apply to everyone else.

---REVIEWER INFORMATION (BIAS ELIMINATION)---

FAVORITE BEER TYPE: IPA

FAVORITE BEER: Dogfish Head 90-minute IPA

SPECIFIC SERVING DEETS: Poured from bottle into Dogfish/Spiegelau IPA glass.

ATMOSPHERE: Kitchen, in front of textbook. (I feel that atmosphere is an overlooked characteristic that can have an effect on how one interprets the quality of a brew - bad circumstances may lead an individual to feel worse about the beverage, and vice versa).

---CHARACTERISTICS AND EVALUATION---

APPEARANCE: Copper, typical IPA color. Nice 1 - 1.5 inch head upon pour into IPA glass. Some lacing, but not as impressive as other varieties (Stone IPA, Dogfish IPA's, etc)

SMELL: Cream/Creamy, Pine, Booze. Again, not the most impressive... but definitely worthy of high respect and an enjoyable olfactory experience.

TASTE: A tiny bit of bitterness with the classic un-filtered taste and feel. Very nice, and smooth. An enjoyable variety for the beer connoisseur who treats brews like wine, and enjoy sipping rather than chugging.

MOUTHFEEL: Easy on the mouth, not harsh at all - slight bitter aftertaste but this is to be expected from an IPA.

OVERALL: Great brew! I really enjoy this one when working on projects of some sort because it really forces you to sit back, relax, and look-smell-sip-evaluate the quality of the beer. An awesome creation from an outstanding brewery.

Centennial IPA pours a clear orange bronze color with a moderate sized off-white head with okay retention and moderate lacing. Has a mostly sweet and floral nose, some orange and lemon rind, with a touch of caramel malt.

Taste starts with sweet floral hops, then caramel malts and more sweetness, with a bitter, citric rind finish. Has a bitter, sweet and floral, citric rind aftertaste that lingers nicely, This beer is sweeter than I usually like with an IPA, but Founders pulls this one off with great success. Mouthfeel is average for an IPA with a bit above average carbonation, a little creaminess.
