Poured from the bottle into a fluted Founders tulip "like" glass.

Once again that classic look of KBS. Deep rich foaming three finger head, fine capped bubbles and a mocha colored look. Deep dark nearly blackened walnut body color with excellent opaque and mirror like shoe polish shine. No complaints here.

Aroma is just rich and decadent. Thick cake like aromas of vanilla, an almost tres leche quality but with more hints of liqueur like fruity booze warmth. Cinnamon sprinkles and a frosted donut like density sweetness that hits like a heart-attack. Coffee and soft warmth, classic kbs graham cracker thickness and chocolate darkness… ugh… just murder good nose.

Palate actually brings some unexpected surprises. Shockingly lacking a bit in barrel roundness and mouthfeel, but the classic flavors are here with a twist. Spicy notes of cinnamon heat, almost chile like in flavor. A mid palate rich in coffee grounds and deep nib like cocoa with a soft creamy sweetness. Finish hits with more spice, shockingly missing that rich classic KBS coating, but still delivers an espresso like pop and bitter dark chocolate buzz.

Always love a KBS variant but sometimes I just miss the classics. First world problems I know...

Boozy aroma cuts through the vanilla and cinnamon goodness. The vanilla, especially, is a very nice note in the taste… but a dryness that I don’t care for overtakes it all. Drying coffee notes.
Nothing like the original IMO. Not sure if I’ll try the other varieties after this one. While this is still better than many stouts out there, with this brewer I prefer KBS or CBS if anything.

A new twist on a classic. Still solid after all these years. Cinnamon and vanilla are predominant. Coffee and bourbon follow. Not the cake batter thickness of so many of the newer stouts, still quite enjoyable.

Pitch black pour, bubbles up a half inch of caramel head. Dissipating to a tan ring leaving spotty lacing. Smell is cinnamon, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, and barrel. Taste follows suit. Spicy cinnamon up front, KBS base in the middle, soft vanilla undertone on the finish, feel is oily and smooth. Loved it, will buy more.

While this is a very good beer, I understand why it’s the lowest rated of the KBS. Adding two more adjuncts don’t seem to add much to a already tasty party. In fact, it may take something away because it’s too much flavor. Drank at room temperature. Dark and frothy appearance. Strong scents of cocoa, vanilla, coffee, and dark malt, but the cinnamon is strongest of all. The taste is cinnamon forward, followed by vanilla and coffee. For a base beer where chocolate is one of the main ingredients and a variation where cocoa is in the name, I think it’s the most muted of the adjuncts. A bit thinner than I expected, but still a full mouth feel. Definite boozy presence. A very good beer, but with “KBS” in the name, I expect more.

This just isn't working for me, so glad I got a single. The aroma is actually quite nice, cinnamon rolls with vanilla icing mostly. Hints of chocolate and very subdued bourbon barrel notes. Up front I taste primarily dry cocoa with hints of coffee. The other elements are there but subtle. Very good so far. Things fall apart at the finish though. The vanilla and cinnamon both become very potent and they just don't work together for me. They come across as artificial and biting. The aftertaste has a metallic tang to it. Tough to finish this one.

Pours an effervescent mahogany with 2 fingers of caramel colored head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Cocoa, vanilla, faint coffee, cinnamon shows up late

T: Vanilla, cinnamon, a little mocha up front. Mocha & cinnamon mike as this warms, just a little vanilla sneaking in as this warms. Finishes with cinnamon spice, coffee bitterness & mocha sweetness, plus a little dryness

MF: Warming, low carbonation, pretty chewy

Any more cinnamon would've probably turned me me off, everything seems in balance here. Very drinkable
