Poured from the garage kegerator into my Duvel tulip.

The pour generated a nice eggshell white 2-3 finger head that sat on top of a light amber/copper body. The head stayed around for the entire beer and left beautiful lacing down the side. Something we all like to see.

Smell - Immediately after the pour you could notice the bouquet of pine, citrus and grapefruit notes that are just leaping out at you. What a very aromatic beer we have here!

Taste - A bit lighter than what expected, and those expectations came from the wonderful aroma that this one produces. Just enough bitterness hits you up front, which quickly fades away. I think the carbonation ups the perceived bitterness. I get notes of grapefruit and citrus muddled together.

Mouthfeel - lighter body, medium carbonation which seems to help out with the bitterness of this beer and balance out the malt body that this possesses.

Overall - For a sessionable IPA, this one hits the nail right on the head. Very tough to beat to have a beer with the flavor and ABV, along with the wonderful aroma. It is a great session beer, you can have many of these and not worry. This beer will be great for those warm summer afternoons when you don't want something too light. This will also satisfy your hunger for hops on those hot sunny days.

Golden body, still, very slight haze. Four fingers of snow white foam. Minimal lacing.

Strong inviting fresh grapefruit and orange aroma.

Light malt base lays a thin coat. Juicy fruit abounds. Hop nip at the swallow. Clean finish.

Light mouthfeel.

Good but not impressive in Beer Geek mode, when its characteristics are under deep scrutiny, by works damn well in its intended role: having one or more when involved in other activities, like fishing or mowing the lawn.

A: Washed out dirty orange shows a translucent quality with a micro-shower of effervesce. The head was milky, dirty white, thin and whispy and not withstanding long. No legs on the vessel.

S: Freshly sliced grapefruit, pulp, sweet toasty grains. What i like most is the freshness, juicy, and wet and not dry hopped.

T: Toasty backing, meets grapefruit, easy ibus, though appreciable. Slight citrus dryness, soft flowery mixing with some wet juicy lemons and toasted grains. Finishes toasty dry.

M: Some crispness, dry toasty flowery citrus, sliding off the tongue rather easily. Little hop backlash making for a smooth exit.

O: Serves its purpose well, an multiple session ipa with an easy malting and respectable smooth hopping. Probably makes good for a warm summer treat, though equally as nice as a fall beer. Solid B offering, wet upfront, toasty dry finish.

A hazy orange, min head, nice lace.
S lots of piney oily citrus hops.
T lots of citrus pine hops, strong hop oil, planty greatness with some grapefruit tart in there somewhere.
M great smooth drink, excellent carbonation, nice hoppy aftertaste.
O fantastic brew, thoroughly impressed by this glory of an IPA

Had on tap at OSDH in Denton, from beer journal 4/19/13.

Appearance: Very light copper in color with two fingers length of foam that dissipates fairly quickly.

Smell: Faint citrus.

Taste: Citrus, like white grapefruit. Hop bitterness up front that pleasantly lingers on.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium, that leaves slight, clean aftertaste.

Overall: A very refreshing beer that has enough flavor and bite to satisfy. As the label says, this is very "sessionable".

when they were filling the growler I could smell this thing from over yon... damn...

eyes...
clean golden brown hue, white head of a concave stance, nice lacing, pretty basic but effective (like a good judo chop)
nose...
nice pine bomb with citric notes, in some way it doesn't totally go off into pine psycho ville but it is strong, damn hoptastic smell, it is pretty same song but that aint wrong imo... scent wise this is really nice for a lower ABV, this would give run to some DIPAs

taste etc...
medium light body with a nice prickly carbonation bite, some lemony afterbits, hop flavor is solid but not overwhelming... at first sip you almost think this will get old quick... but it doesn't ! this has big hop flavor that sort of smacks you in the face... and then retreats so you say "thank you sir may I have another".. and so you shall

verdict?
session able but tasty as balls ? (if you are into that sort of thing...)
damn tasty stuff, really enjoyable, almost too much flavor for the favor, well done

Nice beer for a session, but it leaves a lot to be desired due to the metallic aftertaste. Could be due to a bad tap, but not a good enough beer to bring me back. However, due to the overall quality hop flavor, this beer may see some repeat business from me due to the mellow starting taste and the overall drinkability. Poor mouthfeel may e a result of the metallic taste but the lack of a quality head and carbonation hurts.

look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color capped by an inch of foam that leaves a few shards of lace behind

Smell: Vaguely biscuity with a nice waft of pith and citrus

Taste: Pithy citrus layers on top of the rather neutral malt base with a touch of growing bitterness that lingers a bit in the middle but fades in the finish

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: For the ABV, this is an IPA that can't be beat; great for the beach or a hot summer day

A - pours a slightly hazy light orange. Minimal head. No lace. No bubbles.

S - dank pine/onion, light citrus and soft caramel malt.

T - light citrus, soft caramel malt with a touch of sweetness.

M - light body. Low-medium bitterness.

O - enjoyed it as a light, citrusy pale ale. Not quite bitter enough to be called an IPA, but whatever. Easy drinking and tasty.

Poured from bottle into hill farmstead tulip. Pours a deep bronze slightly amber color with no head but slight white rim of lacing. Amazing aroma of mango juicy hop with slight malt. Nice hop flavor...again juicy mango with a tropical flavor as well...some nice light malt balance. Its a little thin and lacking on body but it is a lighter brew. All around a great session brew with a lot of flavor.

A- pours a clear golden color with a small white head, reducing to just a skimming layer, short lasting lace

S- citrus hops with an earthy & herbal undertone, fresh cut grass with some dank hemp seed

T- sweet and malty up front with some graininess, notes of lemon-grass, the hops aren't really noticeable until the finish, lemony and pine, dry & slightly bitter finish

M- light-med body with low carbonation and foamy mouthfeel, clean and smooth finish, easily drinkable

O- pretty good flavor for the low ABV, not as much bitterness as a typical IPA, but it could easily be a session beer. For a hit summer day, this would be a fine choice

This is a great session ale. It is also a great IPA. Apparently it does have some flaked maize in it which helps give it a sweet and crispy finish. This really accentuates the hops that make it a great IPA. Plus, it's always great when you can have a few and still drive home.

Appearance: Clear, golden-yellow in color with a fizzy, white head.

Smell: Pine smell, grass smell, very present smell of hops.

Taste: Fresh, vibrant, sticky hops with a hint of sweet malt in the finish. Very present hops flavor, as an IPA should

Moutfell: Never too hoppy where it's cloying or dry. The carbonation adds a good balance.

Overall:I am not a huge fan of IPAs, personally, but that does not mean this is a bad beer. I thought for an IPA, it was good

Appearance: It has a nice hazy golden/orange color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately fast and leaves some lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of citrus, mango, pine, toasty malts and sweet caramel.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some citrus, slight piney resin, toasty malts, faint caramel. Fairly light bitterness.

Mouthfeel: It has a low/medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

Appearance: medium-low carbonation, orange-brown in color, 1/4 inch head, clear

Smell:big pine and light citrus hops

Taste: caramel and toasted malt start with citrus and pine hops that come in the middle and are present to the end...some straw is also present.

Mouthfeel: light bodied, moderate carbonation, sweet start with a bitter middle that gets slightly more dry and bitter to the end

Overall: A nice and sessionable piney ipa. I could see myself drinking a few as the weather warms. Above average beer, but there are several other ipas that I like more.

I have decided with this beer that Indian Pale Ale beers are not my first choice of style. Although it was well balanced the hops were very strong. My favorite thing about this beer is that the aftertaste was not long, although it was bitter. Too hoppy for my personal taste.

Pours pale orange with a decent white head. Not much retention, and the head is a bit fizzy. Some lace.

Big fruit aroma right up front, with orange, citric notes, maybe even some apricot. Toasted malt in the background.

Fruity, malty, and citric bitterness up front. All within balance. Toasted malt has just the right amount of sweetness and depth, while hop qualities actually support the malt. Hoppy goodness stays on the palate to the finish.

Medium bodied, good carbonation.

A winner. One of my favorite IPAs . Easy to drink, tasty, and complexly balanced.

Deep golden, with a finger of bubbly head on the pour.

Orange rind and other citrus are strong with this one - can nearly envision walking through a an orange grove.

More rind comes through on the tongue - kind of like licking a fresh orange repeatedly. Some mango and pineapple follow. Not a great deal of breadth here, but what is here is good.

Pretty standard mouthfeel - decent carbonation, supporting the hoppiness.

Refreshing, perfect for summertime, easily a new seasonal session favorite.

The beer is golden yellow with a small white head. The aroma brings citrus and pine hops. Light in body and sufficiently bitter. A bit watery and certainly refreshing. A nice brew to toss back on a hot day. Lingering bitter hops and perhaps a touch of orange rind. Good stuff.

12 oz. bottled poured into a pint glass.

A: Golden, hazy honey color with bubbles dancing up the side. Head is a puny finger in height.

S: Wow. Grassy citrus, sweet orange rind, faint honey, slight herbal tea. Packs a real punch to the shnoz, very typical of Founders beers.

T: Follows the nose. Tropical fruits, pineapple, grassy hops, slight malt sweetness.

M: Medium carbonation. My only complaint about the mouthfeel is that it's a bit watery, but I guess that's acceptable for a session IPA.

O: This is a fantastic session IPA, the best I've ever consumed. It's full of flavor and doesn't kick your ass, but the body could be a little bit more full to completely satisfy me. Definitely worth a shot.

Clear and golden, slim white head.

Aroma: Nothing but citrus and pine, lemon, lime, a splash of grapefruit. Lively stuff.

Taste: Handy hop bitterness bless the tongue…now, wait, blazes the tongue. Body is lightish to medium-y,..naw, screw it, let's stick to light… malt is crisp and toasty, biscuity. Super-easy drinking. And fairly tasty.

42 IBU. 4.7% ABV.

So, what makes this a "Session IPA", and not an over-hopped

American Pale Ale?

Appearance: Nice amber appearance with a small white head.

Aroma & Taste: Heavy hop notes. Floral herbs and pine mixed with citrus grapefruit and orange. Even with the citrus notes the beer has a heavy bitter taste with a long finish.

I was surprised by the low ABV for this beer, which is why it's an "All Day IPA." Overall this beer was a little to heavy on the hops for me (I like hops) but I also thought it was better when the beer got a little warmer.

Big thanks to Ba ClockworkOrange for gifting me with a bottle of this. The brew pours a perfectly clear light copper color with a finger of off-white head that fades leaving spots of lace sticking to the glass. Around the edges, the brew is more of a yellowish color. A swirl revives less than a finger back to the surface that is quick to fade.

The aroma is quite enjoyable with a fresh juicy hoppiness. Some tropical qualities mix with a floral aspect, more fruit and rinds. A little zesty, pulp-like, herbal and piney character also is thrown into the mix. The most faint amount of bready grain sits underneath but for the most part the aromatics are all about the hops.

The flavor of this brew is grassy to herbal with a solid focus on hop character without getting too bitter. Some floral notes, zest and bitter pulp to rind character somewhat like oranges and grapefruit. There is a bit of toasty bready grain character lying underneath the hop flavoring.

This is a light bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is light, refreshing and very easy drinking. Session IPA or just hop centric pale ale? Who knows why the focus on session, but it is pretty good. I wouldnt mind throwing back a few of these on a hot day. Thanks again for sharing Jason!

Bottle > Pint Glass
A - Pours a nice yellow, solid 1.5 finger head, nice lacing.
S - Good floral hints, fresh cut grass, and some pine
T - Crisp and fresh, good pine flavor and just enough malt to compliment the bitterness.
M - Light and refreshing, clean, well carbonated.
O - Does exactly what its name suggest, expect nothing less or more.

I am not an Indian Pale Ale Drinker and this is my first choice if forced with a decision. It is a well balanced. The hopps are strong but very well balanced with the rest of the ingredients. The hopps come through cleanly without a lot of fuss or distraction. With this beer you get the hopp flavor without too much lasting bitter aftertaste. Founders definitely has a winner with this brew.
