Pours a pale straw color, billowy white three finger head, lively carbonation and solid lacing in the glassware.

Aroma is relative bright, reminiscent of tropical fruit, slight hint of pine.

Flavor is pleasant, similar to the aroma, nice moderate lasting bitterness.

Mouthfeel is relatively light, maybe even a tad thin, but this IS a session IPA. Crisp dry finish, nice example of the style.

This a solid IPA with an easy drinking quality about it that could satisfy a number of palates.

Poured from a bottle, this is a light golden color. It is fizzy with very light head. Smell is very light citrus and pine. Taste is very mild with a light hoppiness in the background. Not something overly complex, it is a nice session beer and probably something great to have in the summer.

12oz bottled May 5, 2012. Served at around 40F.

Pours lightly hazy yellow/gold with a one finger white head that recedes quickly to a small ring and wispy cap and leaves just a few spots of lacing behind.

Aroma is lemon and grapefruit citrus, floral, grassy hops, a touch of pineapple. some cracker-like malt. Good strength.

Flavor features lemony citrus, some grapefruit, floral and grassy, a little fruity, a bit of light malt, good bitterness on the finish. Minimal alcohol, finishes dry and crisp.

Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied, a little oily and sticky, moderate carbonation.

Big thanks to one of my customers for bringing this by since we don’t get this one in Georgia. Does exactly what Founders set out to do...a nice sessionable IPA. Nothing crazy or extreme, just delivers a hop fix without too heavy of a body or too much alcohol. Great lawnmower beer with serious flavor.

Tasted On: 10-03-2013
Freshness: Bottled on 07-25-2013
Packaging: 12 oz. brown bottle, pry-cap
Glassware: Signature glass
Purchased: Received from a friend

Appearance has a semi-clear, golden colored beer with a white head. The head is a good size and leaves a good lace on the glass, albeit with low retention.

The smells are primarily of hops, with bold notes of grapefruits and other citrus.

The taste is what I'd expect based on the aromas, with a notable bitterness of hops with tropical fruit flavors. Not much in the way of malt character.

Mouthfeel has a light to moderate body. The high carbonation gives it a crisp feel, with a bitter and dry finish. I enjoyed this one more as it warmed up a bit.

Overall a good IPA, but it did seem one-dimensional.

Thanks for the beer, Craig!

Honey yellow in color with a slight chill haze. Poured with a brief white foam that quickly reduced to a wispy cap. Pungent herbal and citrus hop aromas. The feel is on the thinner side, a tad bit watery up front until the tangy, assertive carbonation rolls through. Herbal hop flavors up front followed by citrus hops through the middle and pine hops at the end. Finishes with a long lasting, bitter pine hop after taste. The hops are the showcase, biting, tangy, and bitter. Not much malt presence, but that's probably the point with the "all day" session theme here.

Poured a clear amber body with a half finger bubbly white head. Fairly standard IPA appearance, quite nice, if not a bit simple. Scents of dank, earthy, herbal hops, vegetal hops with slight onion character, light tropical fruit and some citrus round out the aroma and there is a very light malt sweetness. Overall impression of aroma is of a big, hoppy beer with a good deal of powerful hop aromatics. Very nice. Flavor begins bitter, with notes of pine resin, herbal hops, dank, earthy hops and grapefruit peel. Middle opens up vegetal hop flavors and a stronger flavor of grapefruit and light floral hop flavors. Finish is bitter with notes of floral hops, grapefruit peel, citrus blossom and pine resin. Aftertaste is grapefruit peel and pine needles. Overall impression of flavor is of a very hops forward ale, wonderfully flavorful, with a degree of complexity from the numerous interacting hop flavors. As is typical for the session IPAs the malt is undetectable. Mouthfeel is light bodied and watery with medium-high carbonation and a slick, resinous feel. Overall impression. Of mouthfeel is of a hoppy light beer. Overall this is a good session IPA. Founders was one of the first to try to make a hoppy session beer, and while not quite as good as some that have come after, it is still a solid choice and a good, light, refreshing hop-forward beer.

Founders All Day IPA
12oz, bottled 2/11/13

Extremely clear orangey gold, slightest bit of chill-haze. Modest white head, nice lacing and average retention. (4)

Aroma is hoppy and clean. Restrained dry-hopped notes of pungent hop oils, a slight floral character and a touch of tropical fruit. (4)

Bitter and quenching. Plenty of hop flavor, though not as pleasant as the aroma. More of a dank, pungent and slightly spicy hop flavor that works against the delicate malt and overall lightness of this beer. Biscuity, cracker-like malts, very dry finish. Clean and bitter on the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is very light with spritzy carbonation. (3.5, 3)

A nice and drinkable Pale with plenty of bitterness. Reminds me a lot of Victory Summer Love, though not quite as delicious and balanced. (3.5)

Bought at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow, MA. Served in a pint glass poured from a can. The beer poured with a rather large head that dissipated very quickly. This left only a very thin retention with bubbly lacing on the sides. Color is clear and gold. Aromas included a somewhat light buttery-biscuit smell wrapped with a flowery hop spice. The taste had a low bitterness with a some tartness thanks to some citrus flavoring. Decent body with a crisp carbonation. Overall, not a bad session IPA.

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a thin off-white head. Aromas of pineapple, and a hint of pine. The flavors start with some grapefruit rind, then a hint of biscuity malt, and finishing with a pounding of pine flavor. Mouthfeel is pretty good. Overall a good session beer, though I would prefer a bit more citrus and less pine personally.

a - poured a one finger thick light tan head into a snifter that left nice lacing throughout. the body was a bright amber color.
s - strong grapefruit aroma with some pine resin too.
t - piney hops dominate. not much malt profile which was expected.
m - crisp and thin but suits this beer.
o - great beer when you want a hoppy fix but don't want the ABV.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter. $9.99/6 pack

A- Pours a crystal clear golden orange body with a medium white head that reduces quickly and leaves little lacing.

S- Pretty fruity, smells like citra hops - citrus, mango, pineapple, some pine.

T- The notes here are subtle but tasty - the hop character reveals some tropical, grassy, and citrus zest notes. Not very bitter, nicely balanced.

M- Thinnish body with medium carbonation. Definitely refreshing and sessionable.

I like everything about this beer but the price. It's definitely a great brew to drink on a summer afternoon, but at 4.7% alcohol, a 6 pack isn't going to last you nearly as long as a higher abv, more flavorful 6-pack that you can purchase for 9.99.

All Day IPA

Enjoyed on the train with good company, while a Megadeth show.

Pours an orangish amber color that is clear as day. A couple fingers of white head sits for a while some webby lace clings.

The nose has a considerable amount of pineapple and citrus fruits coming from the hops. A light biscuity malt note is also picked up.

This beer might be low in alcohol but not in flavor! Fresh, zesty hops including pineapple and mango. A nice light bitterness on the backend.

The mouthfeel is light bodied with ample carbonation.

Overall, great, flavorful session ale that brings nice hop characteristics to the table.

Pours a clear golden color with little to no head and minimal lace. Nice sweet aroma of malts, fruity esters, honey, bananas and vanilla. Hop heavy taste with strong citric bite. Strong carbonation and lighter bodied than your typical ipa. Very drinkable, in fact, I drank it quite fast. As the name implies, a session ipa and a decent one at that.

Don't remember being a huge fan of this one, but had a nice, cold-stored bottle recently and man was it tasty. Really nice nose, grassy, light citrus or perhaps even flecks of tropical fruit, a just a hint of dankness/pungency. Palate finds a way to not get too thin, though the carb combines with the attenuation to create a pretty buzzy feel. Still, a nice mix of hop flavor with the faintest of crackery malt backdrops. This thing works, and it works well.

Not the most spectacular IPA but for a 4.70 ABV, it's solid, probably the best of the low ABV IPA's I've had. The color was yellow with a tint of orange. A nice half inch white head that remained for a while after pouring. There were aromas of pine that is fresh and earthy. The flavors were more mild. Malt sweetness is medium and the hop bitterness comes in quickly but not assertively. Mild citrus and mild pine. It has a light bodied mouthfeel but not as low as I expected. This will definitely be my next beer of choice on the next outing trip.

Bottle: a stumpy 355mL brown bottle with a nice old-school label.

Appearance: pours a crystal clear golden amber with a decent off-white head that sits at one-finger. Minimal lacing.

Aroma: an intensely nose of orange citrus, pine and grass hops. There are some earthen characters in the background too, which is nice.

Taste: follows from the nose, and I am happy to report that unlike most IPAs that have a strong nose, this one also has an even more intense flavour of pine and citrus. Those earthen characters and some malts are around in the background again.

Aftertaste: hangs about for quite a time, with a touch of alcohol to boot. Plenty of hop bitterness. Nice.

Mouth feel: a moderate body with plenty of carbonation.

Overall: a particularly good example of the American IPA style. Plenty of hops up front with just enough presence from the malts and warming alcohol to round it out. At AU$75 a case of 24 x 355mL (2013) it is better value than plenty of less impressive options.

Pours clear, bright yellow/orange with a small white head and spotty lacing.

Juicy citrus, orange, hints of lemon and mint, light and hop forward.

Less citrus than nose, lemon, seltzer, grass, some biscuit.

Exceptionally clean, light, some bitterness in the aftertaste.

This would be a pretty good pale ale but it doesn't hold up in the IPA category. All Day IPA does a good job of filling its niche as a light sessionable beer for outdoor activity.

A clear gold color with a thin line of bubbles on top. Similar to a soda.

A fresh citrus and grapefruit hop aroma.

More grapefruit hops and a little peach. The malt in the background provides enough sweetness to counteract the heavy hop flavor. Nicely balanced and flavorful.

Well, it's a session beer so it is light with carbonation on the lower side of average.

Definitely an all day session IPA. The citrus quality refreshes without being to overwhelming.

A- clear honeyed amber with small head and minimal lacing

S- very grapefruity with orange and some toast

T- toasted grapefruit and a crisp grassy bitterness. Finishes with lingering tropical hops.

MF- briskly carbonated, light and refreshing. Nice hoppy feeling on the cheeks.

D- definitely a session ipa. Easy drinking and easy abv but still with plenty of flavor.

Bottle poured into a Founders All Day IPA pint glass

A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a nice layer and laces nicely.

S: Tropical fruit and citrus, a little pine, light malt, and a touch of sweetness.

T: Citrus, lemon, a little orange, tropical fruit, floral, maybe a bit grassy, pine, light crackery malt, and just a bit of sweetness. Can feel a bit thin on the finish, but not bad.

M: Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Very solid session IPA.

Presentation: 12 oz. chilled stubby bottle poured into a pint glass. Big thanks to Centennial for tossing a bottle my way.

Appearance: Light orange and clear in color. Pours a one finger, fizzy head with pretty good retention. A really nice lacing.

Aroma: A touch of grapefruit and citrus zest stand out. The hop character really isn't big and in your face and definitely is firmly on the lighter side. A touch of grassy character in the nose as well.

Taste: Light grapefruit and tangerine juice upfront. Really refreshing and easy to drink. A touch of earthy character and a slight grassy tone. Not too bitter at all.

Mouthfeel: Very light bodied with average carbonation. Really easy to drink.

Overall, a really solid take on a session IPA from Founders. Packs a really nice amount of flavor for the ABV and some really nice hop notes. Nothing too outstanding, but I will certainly look for this again in the summer.

The problem with most IPA? Of course they're too thick heavy and malty. Who wants to drink a meal in a glass if they don't have to? The problem with less malty IPA's? yeah they're bitter as hell and undrinkable.

Now bring in the "session" IPA. Beers with abv well over the session level and less malt with likely a bit of dry hopping and here we go.

The crystal clear body, minimal lacing, all boring in the looks department.

The nose is hoppy, citrus and well malt free.

Here's the thing, the beer is tasty as hell. Yeah caramel malt is there so far hidden that it's amazing. The one issue is the beer is more acidic than hoppy. Did founders find a way to make this into acid rain to make this week? I can't tell. I still like it.

I love an IPA without malt thickness! This is wonderful to drink!

This is a solid IPA and I love the lower abv and lower malt. It is no go to from stone which kills this one all day everyday but it's good.

12 oz can poured into nonic pint

A refreshing, fresh-looking, copper-tan ale yields notes of citrus rind, flower stems, mint and coriander. The nose has a slightly lemony bend. Dry and crisp on complexion, perhaps a bit too dry, as the hops bitter toward the finish, leaving a slight astringency between sips. However, the light complexion and citrusy undertone makes this easy to throw back, and would hit the spot on a hot day

Pours a clear, light amber color with two fingers of white head.

Smells of guava and blood orange with some light pine.

Big hop notes with a very light caramel malt backing.

Very light bodied with low but prickly carbonation.

Reminds me of an IPA I accidentally over-diluted; still has an ample hop bunch but the malt aspect isn't there. I think Leviation is better rounded beer that's actually lower in alcohol than this.

On tap at the brewery

A- Clear golden pour with a finger of white head. Lacing is great.

S- Grapefruit, pineapple, lemon and mandarin oranges. Can't believe how hop forward it is without being overly strong.

T- Grapefruit, mandarin, mango and strawberry. Just wonderful all around.

M- Light and refreshing, great carbonation, exactly what you need in a ipa.

O- How do you make a hop bomb without killing your tastebuds? I don't know but Founders does.
