Served on tap at Founders.

A: Pour was fairly translucent copper with a thin white fuzzy head that broke down to splotches and a thin film.

S: Earthy hops, flower, pine, malt, grains, and citrus scents.

T: A nice balanced drink that has some juicy citrus sweetness to it, finishing with nice bitter hops without getting out of hand. A nice flavor complex of spice, hops, malt, and citrus.

M: Massively refreshing and easy to drink. Lighter body with complex warming and aftertastes.

Piney, resin, citrus, some sweetness from the malts.

It's a very good beer. Highly drinkable.

Beer pours nicely from the bottle. No head whatsoever. Aroma of citrus and strong yeast. Pine and wheat supprisingly strong for IPA. Mouthfeel is smooth and tickles the pallet. I found this IPA. A bit tame as compared to other ipas. A great beer for a meal as it won't complicate the situation

Served on-tap in aplain tumbler pint glass at Eli Cannon's in Middletown, Conn.

A: Poured a clean, clear golden yellow color with a thin veil of bone-white foam which left no real lacing on the glass.

S: Very bright, zesty, fresh and fruity hop profile with hints of funky grape skin, lemon zest and herbal, grassy bitterness.

T: Light, crackery malt flavors key in up front with a very mild, buttery taste. The hop characteristics are varied but trend towards the lemongrass and herbal end of the spectrum. Acidity bounds around imparting lemon bitterness and a spicy, slightly catty finish. Not a whole lotta malt backbone to hold up the grainy bitterness, but lots of hop flavor for a small package.

M: Clean, crisp and light-bodied IPA with a good amount of bitterness to keep a snappy palate and finish.

O: A nice session IPA that very drinkable at 4.7% ABV and certainly keeps you interested with it's strong hop profile. As the name implies, you could drink it all day, but I'm not convinced that I would. However, I'd get it again and consider adding it to a summer BBQ or camping pack.

Bottle dated 6/3/2013 so this was about seven weeks old when I drank it. Still hoppy! Aroma was distinct hops, pine, citrus. Flavor was nice and hoppy still, citrus and a strange fuzziness that I got from Lagunitas Daytime IPA. Super easy to drink although at 4.7% I wouldn't quite call this a session beer, maybe at 4.2%. Perfect candidate for cans and I'll be picking up some or trading when they hit shelves.

All Day IPA

Enjoyed on the train with good company, while a Megadeth show.

Pours an orangish amber color that is clear as day. A couple fingers of white head sits for a while some webby lace clings.

The nose has a considerable amount of pineapple and citrus fruits coming from the hops. A light biscuity malt note is also picked up.

This beer might be low in alcohol but not in flavor! Fresh, zesty hops including pineapple and mango. A nice light bitterness on the backend.

The mouthfeel is light bodied with ample carbonation.

Overall, great, flavorful session ale that brings nice hop characteristics to the table.

The beer is golden yellow with a small white head. The aroma brings citrus and pine hops. Light in body and sufficiently bitter. A bit watery and certainly refreshing. A nice brew to toss back on a hot day. Lingering bitter hops and perhaps a touch of orange rind. Good stuff.

12 oz. can poured into Spiegelau.

A- Golden honey in color. Active carbonation. Off-white head retains at 1/4". Great lacing.

S- Aromatice citrus, pine, hint of toasted malt. Sweet aroma.

T- Citrus peel, a little sweet citrus. Less malt, but it's in the flavor profile.

M- Light, crisp. Simple

O- Light, and crushable. Session IPAs are growing on me. Dry hopping, and leaving less for the bittering is a great idea. We get the hop flavor and aroma, but minimal bitterness.

Pours a straw yellow with low but active carbonation. Good head froth reduces to very good lacing. Smells of pine and grapefruit. Good mouthfeel. Crisp. On the nose you get pine, herbal flowers, and grapefruit. Mid-palate you have some bitter hop notes and some spice. Lots of grapefruit, citrus, and some lemon grass. Back palate you get more bitter notes and some lemon. Aftertaste is fairly clean with lingering pine and citrus. Pretty good. Very sessionable as promised. 3.75 out of 5.

Had this both and tap and in the bottle and there wasn't too much of a difference. A session ale indeed!!

Appearance: a light golden/copper color, pores with a thin white had and a solid amount of carbonation.

Smell: Citrus...smells like grapefruits and tangerines.

taste: It tastes just like it smells. It basically tastes like liquid grapefruit with a slight sweetness. A decent burst from the hops that finishes clean.

Mouthfeel: very light, clean with a good amount of carbonation. You get the flavors and then...it's gone. As if you never drank it.

Overall: I would have to say it is perfect for what it is. A session ale and nothing more. It gives off some good flavors, stays light and clean, and served ice cold it is extremely refreshing. Again, it's excellent for what it is.

Clear crimson body with very slight golden hue with a somewhat thin white head with little lacing. Floral, citrus (orange and pineapple) and pine aroma. Flavor is a touch tangy with mild malt presence with more of the same from the aroma in the flavor with the floral hops coming across more grassy. Lighter side of medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall the hop profile is complex which is accentuated by the mild malt presence.

I like this beer more than others I guess. It tasted very much like alpha King to me. A little bit sweet with a nice hop kick to it... more of a hoppy pale than an IPA but still a good brew...

I wouldn't want it any hoppier for a session so im good with this... piney hoppiness lingers on the finish but it doesn't overwhelm... good malt base...

What's not to like here? Super refreshing on a hot day....

Golden body, still, very slight haze. Four fingers of snow white foam. Minimal lacing.

Strong inviting fresh grapefruit and orange aroma.

Light malt base lays a thin coat. Juicy fruit abounds. Hop nip at the swallow. Clean finish.

Light mouthfeel.

Good but not impressive in Beer Geek mode, when its characteristics are under deep scrutiny, by works damn well in its intended role: having one or more when involved in other activities, like fishing or mowing the lawn.

A - Pours crystal clear amber with a frothy white head. Sheets of lacing cling to the glass.

S - Citrus fills the nostrils, grapefruit, orange, and lemon, bright fruit, pineapple, white bread yeast with a biscuity pale malt underneath.

T - Follows the nose with bright grapefruit, tangerine, lemon and orange. Nice hop flavor with ample bitterness. Tangerines show up and the pale malts support the zesty citrus with some grassy and slightly spicy hops coming in as it warms. Finishes crisp and clean with a pithy grapefruit bitterness.

M - Light to medium body, solid carbonation, crisp and clean finish.

A great session IPA, especially for the ABV. Grapefruit dominates with a light pale malt base. It's crisp and clean and you could drink this all day... get it.

Poured a clear amber body with a half finger bubbly white head. Fairly standard IPA appearance, quite nice, if not a bit simple. Scents of dank, earthy, herbal hops, vegetal hops with slight onion character, light tropical fruit and some citrus round out the aroma and there is a very light malt sweetness. Overall impression of aroma is of a big, hoppy beer with a good deal of powerful hop aromatics. Very nice. Flavor begins bitter, with notes of pine resin, herbal hops, dank, earthy hops and grapefruit peel. Middle opens up vegetal hop flavors and a stronger flavor of grapefruit and light floral hop flavors. Finish is bitter with notes of floral hops, grapefruit peel, citrus blossom and pine resin. Aftertaste is grapefruit peel and pine needles. Overall impression of flavor is of a very hops forward ale, wonderfully flavorful, with a degree of complexity from the numerous interacting hop flavors. As is typical for the session IPAs the malt is undetectable. Mouthfeel is light bodied and watery with medium-high carbonation and a slick, resinous feel. Overall impression. Of mouthfeel is of a hoppy light beer. Overall this is a good session IPA. Founders was one of the first to try to make a hoppy session beer, and while not quite as good as some that have come after, it is still a solid choice and a good, light, refreshing hop-forward beer.

12oz bottle served in a pint glass
Bright orange gold with a bright white head that starts out at about one finger thick before falling to a fine layer of tiny bubbles with lace on the edges. The smell is of bright citrus and pine hops with just a touch of caramel malt in the background, the hops are really the focus with this one. The taste follows the smell with an explosion of hop flavor on first sip. The grapefruit tangyness is in the forefront with the pine and herbal hop flavors following close behind. Like the smell there isn't much of the malt in this one but there is just a enough, really not enough to balance the hops but that would have made this a much bigger beer which was obviously not the intent. As a result of the lower alcohol and gravity, the body of this is fairly light the moderate to high carbonation adds to that making it even lighter. Overall this is a nice IPA, the lighter body makes it great for a hot summer day, a picnic or poolside maybe not the best IPA out there but the light body and great hop flavors makes it really enjoyable to drink.

3/7/15 (Bottle) - Nice golden pour with light minimal head. Citrus and malt aroma pleasant and strong. Lemon and malt flavor very good and fun to drink. Carbonation noticeable, beer went down with a slight kick which I liked. Overall very good offering by a strong brewer.

Ditka's in Oak Brook Terrace, IL. Bottle. Pretty good IPA. That's my review. Pretty good. There are just so many IPAs out there right now that I have a hard time differentiating. Reasonably priced session beer.

Type: 12 oz bottle
Glass: Tulip

Appearance: a orangish yellow. good clarity. slightly off white head. leaves a lacing on the sides.

Smell: a hop melody. mostly floral but some citrus and pine. could be stronger

Taste: again a hop melody. floral strongest, then citrus, them pine. not much bitterness

Mouthfeel: very light, refreshing, crisp, quite sessionable. very low bitterness for an ipa

Overall: Not my favorite ipa by some measure but it is what it claims to be. its a pleasant tasting and i could drink quite a few of these. definitely a hit by founders for me

Smells amazing, very sweet citrus aroma. Taste and feel are a bit light, as you would expect. I wish there was some more juiciness and complexity in the flavor, it's a little bland, but overall it's a good beer for what it is.

Look: Nice hazy golden color with a quickly dissipating head. Minimal lacing.

Smell: The smell is light and hard to distinguish. I suppose its a result of its low ABV and light body, but what little smell there is, is pleasant. Citrus with light hops. Melon and orange come through. Very light and refreshing.

Taste: Hops peak and fall quickly, leaving citrus throughout the entire sip. Alcohol is nonexistant, obviously, which is welcome with its light and refreshing nature. IPA style is present without having to go to the nth degree with its typical features. Extremely tasty. Can't wait to sip this at a BBQ or while camping during the summer. I want to see how it will hold up as it gets warm in the heat of outdoor activity, which might effect its taste (particularly in the can). This will likely be avoided considering the fact that it is drinkable and goes fast.

Feel: Very thin, but fits with the session style and taste of the brew. Salivation from the small hop hit and citrus keeps it from being TOO thin. Good.

Overall: Easily the best session IPA i've ever heard. No reason to ever drink a bud light again with this beer. Easily worth the extra money for a 15 pack as opposed to a 12er for 18 for little difference in price. Glad I found it.

Pours a clear, golden-amber, with a very thin white ring of froth. There's a slight amount of lacing later on. I find the smell of this beer to be extremely enticing, with very citrusy, aromatic hops. Once tasted, it's easy to surmise that there's virtually no malts present whatsoever. Lots of different hop flavor notes here - piny, resinous, and also citrusy grapefruit (like the aroma indicated). I wonder what different types of hope were used... It's a very clean libation, a perfect light-bodied choice for having with a meal, during a summer's day, or in large quantities with your buddies. Overall this 'session-able' IPA succeeds in every way as advertised, despite how suspect that statement initially sounds!

It just hit me that I never reviewed this one, so it's past due. Can dated less than a month ago, served in a New Belgium snifter. Pours straw gold and settles clear golden in the glass. Plenty or carbonation, and topped off with a 1 finger head of bubbly, white foam. Dissolved down into a dense lacing after a minute or two. Mild aroma consisting of dank pine/resin and grapefruit. Medium-light weight and fairly crisp on the mouthfeel. Light flavor, but notable pine up front on the taste. Grapefruit and other tropical fruit middleways, and finishes clean. Hops and pine left over on the aftertaste.

Overall, a simple yet pleasant session IPA. Better from the can, IMO. This is your basic session beer, with enough flavor to get you through mowing the lawn or changing that valve cover gasket. Think of it as a sessionable Centennial.
