Appearance - Nearly opaque dark cherry color with a one finger medium-thick frothy cream colored head

Smell - Sweet toasted malt immediately followed by dark fruit, fig, and sweet alcohol with hints of caramel and toffee.

Taste - Rich toasted malt followed by dark fruit, fig, dark chocolate, and sweet alcohol with a caramel-toffee finish

Mouthfeel - Smooth and balanced with a medium-thick slightly syrupy viscosity and fine creamy carbonation. Very light alcohol throughout, light bitterness as you would get from dark chocolate, and a warm finish.

Overall - Very flavorful, filling, and overall a great beer, It is one of my favorite beers that I have had.

Pours a dark cherry red from the bottle with a bubbly head that dissipates quickly. Nice aroma of caramel, malt and dark fruit. Tastes of toffee, chocolate malt and a nice balance of cherry and plum. A good bit of booze to boot. Medium mouth with good carbonation. This is one of the better wee heavies that I've had. So much flavor, and everything blends together so, so well.

Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Hotel glass
From: Whole Foods in Tempe, Ariz.
Price: $2.59
Purchased: May 15, 2014
Consumed: May 15, 2014
Misc.: Bottled Feb. 23, 2014

Poured a caramel, red, semi-clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of tan head that dissipated pretty quickly. Average-to-above average foamy layered lacing along the sides of the glass. Below average-to-minimal lacing on the top.

Smelled red amber malts, boozy, caramel, toffee, dark apple, dark fruits, dark berries, raspberry iced tea and candied sugar.

Tasted completely different than the smell. Got light butterscotch, caramel, toffee, candied sugars, booziness, roasty nuts and dark fruits.

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish.

Just a really good beer. Smooth and tasty. I’d try it again.

12 ounce bottle served in a pint glass.

Pours a gorgeous burgundy color with a 1 finger, tan colored head. Nice lacing throughout.

Smells of deep, rich roasted caramel malts.

Taste the same with smokiness and a bite of bitterness from the hops. And you can definitely taste the alcohol in this one, not in a bad way though.

Definitely an awesome beer!
