Sampled tonight on 4/23/14. Bottled chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a tulip glass.

Pours a dark golden-brown in color with a good 1-finger off-white head that settles down to the top and sides of the glass. Some sediment is seen in the bottom of the bottle. Spotty lacing is seen with each sip. Lots going on with the aroma with a hint of caramel, dark fruits, malt and 'boozy'. The taste has a lot going on as well with dark fruit (plum and maybe fig), caramel and roasted malts with a light hint of licorice. Perfect carbonation. The finish is a bit hoppy and dry. Wasn't bad but different.

Deep brown body with a small, light brown head that disappears to a thin ring. No lacing but nice legs. Light sediment.

Disappointing to be honest, there just isn't much to grasp. Light caramel, toffee, and a hints of vanilla. Malts and a bit of spice. Sweet fig. If it were more potent, it would rank much higher in my book.

Nails the sweetness, it's perfect. Sweet, roasted caramel malts laced with toffee and blanketed in dark fruits. Tart cherries and raisins. Vanilla on finish and aftertaste.

Smooth and easy to drink... This is 8.5%!? Only the slightest hint of alcohol is present. Little to no noticeable carbonation. Sweet finish.

Another fantastic beverage from the folks at Founders. Loaded with character but not too sweet - a great winter beer.

Appearance is a mahogany color, lightly brown with gorgeous red hues.

Sweet caramel, vanilla, burnt sugar, and some light alcohol burn.

Malty, nutty, boozy taste. An amazing sampling for any scotch ale lover.

Medium-heavy bodied, medium carbonation, sweet, chewy, boozy.

Overall this is an amazing beer, but what one can expect from Founders. A perfect rendition of the Scotch ale style, but perfect for an beer lover.
