This is a great winter beer and was purchased to go along with a solid winter meal (corned beef) and did not dissapoint.

Pour - into a standard pint glass and had a foamy white head with respectable retention and enough lacing that one could say that there is lacing.

Look - looks like a solid black scotch ale.

Taste - tastes great

I would recomend this beer.

I poured this beer, it has a ruby color body with no head. The smell has a malty, dark fruit aroma to it. The taste is dark fruit, malty with a little bitterness. The mouthfeel is smooth and over all a good version of the style, just not one of my favorites styles.

This is a ruby crimson-amber in color. It has a mellow, malty aroma. I get a caramelly flavor coming through from the malt bill. It’s sweet, not sharp and not harsh. Not syrupy although it could easily be if there wasn’t just the right balance to this. Nice, without being a big destroyer, but strong enough to sip and enjoy on a cold night.

Atleast a year old, date is rubbed off.

S - Ripe dark fruit, caramel, oxidized.

T - Caramel and ozidized, wood.

D - Low carbonation with a heavy body.

O - No date, but at least a year or two old, and way past its prime.

T - caramel, butterscotch, raisins... lots of sweetness

M - somewhat heavy, high carbonation

O - very enjoyable, began to feel the 8% alcohold during the last 1/3. Excited Founders will soon be available in Kansas

330ml bottle poured in a snifter glass.

A: Pours a slightly cloudy dark amber color forming a medium thin bubbled tan head. Load retention and only few spotty lacings left in the glass. A very thin layer remains on the top for a long time

S: Sweet and roasted. Strong notes, toffee, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate and oak. Caramel malts, roasted malts, dark fruits like grapes and raisins. Flowery hops

T: Sweet upfront. Strong notes of toffee and caramel. Notes of oak, chocolate, roasted malts, brown sugar, dark fruits. The sweetness is short and in the very beginning. Quickly, it becomes quite dry and malty. Some earthiness and some citrus hops can be felt too in the end

M: Medium body and medium to low carbonation. Very smooth and slightly molasses in the mouth. Malty, toffee and woody aftertaste

O: Good drinkability. Another Founders masterpiece. It sounds like they can't make a mistake...
