On tap at Findley's Restaurant

A- A deep reddish brown, with a nice head that stuck around for about half the glass, till it dropped off to a thick ring.

S- Some Malts, lighter brown sugars. Nothing really standing out. But to be fair, I was at a Restaurant with lots of smells around me to muddle things up. Will re-review this part after I pick up some for home.

T- Much like the nose, nothing standing out but a good flavor

M- Medium and smooth, mild carbonation

O- Decent beer, will try again in a bottle of from a growler in the comforts of home so I can get the full flavor and aromas from this one.

12oz bottle from the Oak Barrel, into a Portsmouth snifter.

Really, really deep ruby colour to this, not quite brown, but just a very dark red with lighter ruby around the edges. Creamy foam on top that is a yellowy-beige. Good spotty lacing. Really nice contrast between the colour of the beer and the colour of the foam.

Nice aroma of toffee, caramel and fig. Nothing overdone, just done well. Some boiled sweet smell as well.

Burning toffee taste initially with a little bit of fig and dark fruit. The toffee loses any slight scorching and normalises. Grows on you the further you get into the glass.

Creamy mouthfeel with a bigger body. Some warmth but no booze heat. Avoids getting too sweet as a little gentle scorching comes through to cut it up.

Good example of a pretty unfashionable style. Not too many misses come from these guys, regardless of the style.
