12oz bottle

Bottled on date of 8/8/13 printed on the neck of the glass.

A- Pours a dark reddish brown color with a light tan colored head with excellent retention and lacing around the glass.

S- The aroma is sweet malt, caramel and a hint of dark fruits.

T- The taste like the aroma is heavy on the malt with a good dose of sweetness and a moderate amount of bitterness in the finish.

M- The mouthfeel is medium-full bodied and oh so smooth with a perfect amount of carbonation.

O- Overall, this is a solid scotch ale that is definitely worth a try.

Pours a deep brown with very little head or lacing.
A very malty caramel aroma. A touch of dark fruity esters and some toffee. A very mild aroma for this big beer.
Huge malt flavor. Mostly sweet with a slight bitterness to back it up. Lots of caramel flavors from the darker malts. No detectable alcohol presence and a very smooth feel for how high the alcohol. Truly remarkable for such a high gravity beer. The smoothness is really something to marvel at.

A fantastically done Scotch ale. A style that we really don't see nearly enough of.

look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4.25

appearance - dark, chestnut brown

smell - sweet, fruity caramel

taste - the same, very sweet and rich with malty kick followed by hops bitter end

mouthfeel - very smooth, subtle

Overall I really like this beer as an after dinner beer. It's too sweet to have more than one unless paired with a good that would cut the sweetness.
