Founders comes out with yet another truly fantastic beer. I had this at a beer tasting party held with a couple of my friends, 8/14/2013.

Appearance: This brew pours thickly into the glass to come up with a two fingered head. The fluffy head settles down to a paper thin lacing. The brown amber color is quite pretty. Some may say it is a mud brown color, but it does have a reddish tint to it that sets it apart.

Smell: A bit estery maybe. I couldn't detect any fruits that I usually catch in other Wee Heavies. The nose is really the downfall of this beer. Thankfully the rest made up for it.

Taste: Mmmmm, malty sweet goodness flows through the mouth. Fantastic barley taste with maybe a hint of something else, maybe not. Roasted malt flavor then arrives to follow the sweetness, and the brew finishes with undertones of subtle hops.

Mouthfeel: Little carbonation with a medium body gives a good delivery for the beer. Smooth enough to drink easily but not a highlight of the brew.

Overall: I quite liked this beer. Not a highlight of all beers, but a great beer as far as Wee Heavies go. I known I will be sharing in the future with others. Definitely a reason to respect Founders.

Pours a muddy brown with copper and golden edges. The finger of buttery brown head dissipated quickly. The nose has some malt notes, but it is not very strong. The flavor is hearty and malty, but it is not super heavy considering the style and the ABV. There is a slight malty sweetness on the finish.
