Notes / Commercial Description:
Mosaic Promise showcases two unique ingredients: Mosaic hops and Golden Promise malt. The versatility of the hop’s pleasing aroma and flavor characteristics and the traditional barley’s depth of flavor comprise this clean, rich, golden beer. We can brew complex beers with the best of them, but we recognize that there is also beauty in simplicity.

Bottled on 2/29/16.

Pours a hazy golden-yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Tiny particles of sediment are seen suspended in the beer after the pour. Smell is of citrus fruit, tropical fruit, earth, and grass aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, tropical fruit, and earth flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with a great Mosaic hop presence that makes this one super tasty and easy to drink.

another tasty hoppy beer from these guys, a somewhat different side of mosaic than we usually see, heavier on the citrus than it usually presents itself as, maybe because the golden promise malt is just so light, but i get fresh lime zest from this, really bright and summery and delicious, a cool face of mosaic for sure. its clear and yellow, really pale in the glass and quite delicate looking. not a ton of head on it, but its clarity is impressive. the citrus in the nose is prominent, but its still definitely mosaic hops, no mistaking these bad boys in a beer this fully charged with them. it has all the same flavors as it does aromas, and as for this malt, i dont get a whole lot of unique features. its soft and mild enough to let the hops shine without being bitter, and it might have just the mildest honey sweetness to it, its fresh for sure and medium light on the palate, but not distinct to me really from a flavor standpoint. very well carbonated and drinking much lighter than even its modest abv would suggest, this is a total warm weather crusher. a different kind of session ipa from these guys, streamlined and delicious. this is the kind of beer these guys do best i think, and this is another great one.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that died down, leaving some lacing down the sides of the glass and a thin film of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of mangos are present in the nose along with some notes of orange citrus and pine.
T: The taste follows the smell, starting out with flavors of mangos and notes of orange—some hints of pine become noticeable towards the back end of the taste and linger into the finish. There is a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The Mosaic hops used in this IPA contribute an interesting mix of aromas and flavors. It's quite enjoyable and rather easy to drink.

Beautifully sculpted from the "mosaic" hop varietal, Mosaic Promise becomes a straight-forward dialogue between one hop and one malt. Direct and confident in its simplicity, why aren't all breweries doing this?

Bright golden to the eye, the most modest of haze becomes a prism to scatter its sun-kissed hues. Breaching the nose, powerful hop aromas give a peppery and wet grass scent. As its more common grapefruit and gooseberry character blends in with honey-dipped malt, the taste enlivens with fructose and herb.

The real magic happens as the ale traverses across the middle- opening up its juicy malt center with understated caramel and honey. Drying quickly, the show soon becomes about the hops. Muddled herb, grass and cannabis carry elements of chive, peppercorn and sour grape while its also grounded by citrusy white grapefruit and lime.

Earthy, spicy and distinctly of botanical quality, its dry finish remains creamy as its skeleton of malt starches continue to support the hops as sweetness evades and smooth peppery bitterness grows. Its taste is effortless and its hoppy display is bright... albeit dank!

On-draught @ Founders. Brief notes below on account of reviewing on a smartphone:

A: No head upon serving. No lacing.

Body colour is a pale copper of average vibrance. No yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.

Nice looking beer in its style, but not unique or special.

Sm: Mosaic is well-showcased. Hints of Blueberry. Floral notes. Faint pine. Sticky hop oils.

Suggests a balanced enjoyable brew with an interesting hop profile. Aromatic intensity is average.

T: Pale malts, Subtle Blueberry notes, floral hop character, hints of pine. Somewhat reticent and shallow, lacking vivid or expressive constituent notes. Decently built, but depth of flavour is lacking. Average flavour duration and intensity. I do like it, but it has no stand-out, unique, or special characters.

Mf: Oily, smooth, wet coating, lightly dragging, medium-bodied, and aptly thick.

Decently done, but not to the extent that there's a harmony of texture and taste.

O: Drinkable and enjoyable, with nice elements from the mosaic. But as much as I like it, it's far from a paragon in its style. Well worth trying.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, bottled on 8/17/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright golden color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, blueberry, pineapple, pine, herbal, floral, grass, cracker, bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, blueberry, pineapple, pine, herbal, floral, grass, cracker, bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, blueberry, pine, floral, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate pale malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice single hop pale ale! All around great complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops and moderate pale malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
