Bottled on date faded off, though I know its almost exactly a year old. Understandably a tad overdue in time I should be drinking this. But here it goes:
Pours dark, slightly hazy black with a nice off white head that quickly dissipates. Maintains a minimal lacing throughout.
Roast and smoke on the nose, not much else.
Heavy dark chocolate and espresso notes that linger, very long finish. Minimal hop presence but enough to keep things balanced.
I could only imagine what this would taste like fresh. Even though its a year old and past its shelf life, its still a solid beer. I hope Dark Penance is as good, if not better then this.
