This is one of my favorite breweries in the country. It is what you hope a brewery would be. Great selection of beers and all that I have had are incredible quality. This place can get real pack and hard to find a seat at times. The servers tend to be a bit on the relaxed side so get yourself a beer before you sit down and expect to spend some time there. Yet every server I talked to seems to have excellent knowledge of beer in general and even more of what is on tap there. Food is solid for a bar or brewery.

Cool brewery with a great indoor restaurant/bar. Lots of room, live music most nights, very good food menu, awesome beers on tap and bottled. Excellent outdoor patio too.

Very cool brewery, everyone working was very friendly, the beer selection was fantastic, and many of the menu items had the beer implemented into the sauces or marinades, which was great. The all around vibes were nice, and it was definitely worth the trip, and I'll be back for sure.

Good place to visit as you never know what will be on tap. When I visited we had some Lizard of Koz despite it hadn’t been for sale for a year or two. Service was outstanding with talkative staff members helping anyone. Food is just favor, but we just tried several appetizers. Need to try sandwiches during next visit.

Return visit from Edmonton, Alberta - here in March 2018 and again now Nov 2019 (clearly impressed as 3 visits last time and dinner and beer here twice this year).
Massive facility - loud and hopping on Saturday PM, busy but not as hectic on Monday PM. Nice options for seating - bar, individual tables, communal tables - the communal tables are great - get to meet some really nice people from all over.
Service is great - numerous staff checking on you regularly!
The selection is probably second to none and the quality of the beer is incredible - how can it not be from Red’s Rye IPA to Breakfast Stout and options of vintages and versions of CBS and KBS, seasonals - Harvest Ale etc. Phenomenal.
The food is fairly standard pub fare sandwiches etc but really good quality.
This is a bucket list visit (my bucket twice now, and will go back!). Worth the journey.
Note also the store is packed with treasures and great beer to go.
And the tour we did last visit also great.

I had the better part of a day looking for something to do in Eastern Michigan, so decided to drive from Brighton and visit the Founders Brewing Company. What an extraordinarily fun place! Basically it is a beer-oriented theme park. A broad selection of Founders brews. Multiple serving areas and table service. A pool table and other bar games. Indoor and outdoor seating arrangement (the latter had a fire pit). Excellent food and service. Bonhomie (my wife and I chatted and joked with two long distance truckers much of the time we were there). A separate, dedicated sales area for souvenirs and pre-package beers (that allows for purchase of single bottles). Did I say the food was excellent? A long drive, but it is surely worth it.

Great pub grub, and very good service for as busy as the place was the afternoon we went. Lots of Founders beers/styles to choose from and we enjoyed sitting outside. Would gladly go back for the beer and food.

Nice open food-courty area plus a large patio. Food was excellent. I had the best Reuben of my life her, and of course founders makes excellent beer, with many options available. Service was very attentive. Three different employees attended to us and they all made frequent stops haha

This is possibly the best tap room we have visited, and we pretty much seldom pass one without stopping. Great selection of really good beers with a very knowledgeable staff and decent eats.

Fairly large place with inside and outside seating, a couple of bars, and a live music stage, Busy place with a bar that can back up but a good number of servers going by the tables and taking orders. They had a tap list of about 30 beers, including their big beers, core lineup, and some brewery only exclusives. Had a fun and relaxing time enjoying a few beers there.

Service was a bit slow BUT, was not sitting at the bar, and it was busy as ever. So the speed of service is understandable. The beer selection is huge, and delicious. One of my favorite breweries

FCFS seating is downright awful. You guys have to fix this Founders. FCFS works well for outside, but not inside.

During the CBS release, I came to pick up my bottles and try Tank Bender. Sure enough TB was on the board. I asked the bar tender for a TB sampler and she says sorry its not on. To her credit, she might have been talking about her bar and not the bar across the room.

I figured it might be out, so I said I'll have a CBS instead. She comes back with a full glass of CBS. Before even taking a sip I told her I only wanted a sampler, and somehow managed to over explain how I had asked for a TB sampler, and thought she understood I'll take a CBS sampler in its place.

Her co-worked overheard and said, "they have TB on tap right over there, I'll go get you one." He came back will a full sized TB instead of the sampler...At that point I thought I better cut my losses, say thank you, and be glad I actually got to try TB.

Despite the mix up and the awful seating I'll be back. Their beer is too good to pass up.

They kept up with a decent sized crowd, had plenty of offerings including some taproom only brews. There was a roomy area to hang out and drink indoors and out. There was a second smaller bar near the store and plenty of staff on hand. We had a french bread pizza, pretty tasty. The store had plenty of to go beer and souvenirs, from stickers to tap handles and signs. Pretty neat place. Not sure if I'd travel that far just to go there again, but I'm certainly glad I tried it. I'd revisit if in the area already.

Visited in the fall, parking situation was kind of a pain. The outdoor area out front was awesome, love the fire pits real nice on a chilly day. Taproom was really hopping, good draft selection and I'm always impressed with their quality. Easy growler fills and had some decent togo options. Solid place.

Rolled into Grand Rapids on the Saturday before Easter, just before 2. I figured we'd stop at Founders first since we had an hour before check-in and no one had had lunch yet. I thought that being a cold, rainy weekend and being a little after typical lunch time it'd be slow. Wrong. Every table was full, including a few outside on the porch under the infrared heaters. (Founders' building is a gorgeous rust brick-and cement building, with metal accents such as a fire pit on the porch area). It's a seat yourself situation, so you kind of have to be aggressive in finding a table.
Once seated, you'll find you don't necessarily have a dedicated server, multiple servers seem to cover an area of the pub. So we had one server take drink orders and bring them back, another took a food order, and another bussed. It seemed to work, and everyone was friendly and efficient. Deli was excellent, great Cuban sandwich, with options for French bread pizza and salads and appetizers. While there's no kid's menu, there should be no problem finding something they'd like. Tons of taps, 28 going when we were there including the current KBS and past 2 years, Doom, DKML, and 12 pub-only brews.
I'd definitely visit again, but try to make sure I hit a slower time. I'd hate to see what the seating looks like during a really busy time.

Cool brewery, very large. Even considering the size of the place it was packed, even though it was a Tuesday night. Good food, and a good range of available Founders beers.

Founders is an annual pilgrimage for my wife and I. Unlike some other popular breweries (I'm looking at you, 3 Floyds and Dark Horse), Founders has made significant investments in recent years to expand the size of their flagship tap room. And they need it. Business is brisk from the time they open until the time they close, any day of the week. If I have one criticism, it's that their lone parking lot is way too small, and thus parking is always a challenge, even on weekdays.

Aside from that, and assuming you can find a seat inside or on the extensive patio outside, you're in for a treat. Usually there are at least 20 beers on tap, including some that are exclusive to the tap room. The quality speaks for itself. Prices, in our opinion, are very reasonable. For service you basically order from whoever walks by your table. That takes a little getting used to, but we found it to be quite efficient. Founders also has a decent food menu if you feel like eating.

Founders is proof that expanding and maintaining a high level of quality don't have to be mutually exclusive. We love them as a business, a destination...and of course, a brewery.

Good selection of beer, including rock-solid mainstays and esoteric limited releases. Probably the largest capacity brewery in Grand Rapids. Great atmosphere and a good food menu, as well.

no holds barred when it comes to finding a seat/table on a weekend. Seriously, I thought mid-westerners were supposed to be nice. I guess that does not apply when it comes to their average tasting micro breweries. I will past on this visit next time around.

Another one of those "you've just gotta go" places. A showed up right on their 11am Saturday time. A small crowd had already gathered, waiting to get inside. The brewery is much bigger than I thought and they have plenty of room inside and out. One big main bar, one smaller bar to the side, next to the gift shop. If you are at one bar and want something from the other, the server will go get it. That's a nice extra step. The best part about Founders is all the tap-room only specials. I wish all the bigger breweries with decent distribution did that. You know all about KBS and CBS, but you never know what awesome brew they've got on tap at the brewery. Parking is pretty good and free on Saturdays around the brewery. Cheap bar snacks and plenty of awesome beer.

An epic temple to beer, with a great range of taps, and a nice menu full of delicious food options. All the standard options from Founders are around, but the real pleasure is to explore options not easily available elsewhere. All sorts of beer styles are on exhibit, and many have slightly tweaked elements that are the brewery's hallmark. That some of these brewing techniques have become standard issue of American breweries is a testament to Founders' reach. Definitely worth the visit.

Having to wait/find a seat is a bit much. Sure, they have great beer and good food, but wow..... Good luck trying to get a spot for more than two. You eventually feel so bad about yourself and have worn yourself out looking for a spot, that you order from the counter, and eat on the steps. Not the best place for a family or group. The staff is good, once you're in a spot.

There's not one bad thing I could say about this place; huge, open space with an awesome beer garden, great food and (obviously) beer, with some special offerings on tap. Service was great, and the shop had Blis maple syrup in stock, which is killer. Definitely recommend.

I'm not usually a huge fan of Porter style beer, but this one was so delicious!
Dark black pour with great brown head. Nose of coffee and chocolate. Flavor is big on roasted malt and nice bite of spice at the end. Great balance and not too much of any one flavor. Nice texture that leads to another sip.
