First of all, you have to understand that the ratings I gave here are taking into account what you usually find in an Oklahoma liquor store. Those of us in OK are very aware of the short list of available beer names around here. Brown's Bottle Shop makes the best of the situation by offering one of the largest selections in the state. Stillwater is a college town (Oklahoma State University) and these guys know that college guys (and gals) like their beer. A good deal of what's available in OK is here. Maybe not every variety of each brewery, but plenty to choose from. I do wish they would get more of the special select stuff from Rogue and Great Divide. One thing I really like is that they organized everything by country of origin. The prices are no surprise - beer seems expensive around these parts once you get away from BMC. I've seen the $11.49 mix-a-6 mentioned here. The deal is 6 different beers from at least 3 different breweries. May sound a little pricey, but if you know what you're looking for you can come out ahead on that deal. You see, they keep some of the more expensive brews mixed in there (some may be getting older, but not outdated). There are plenty of $3 - $4 bottles mixed in with the rest of the mix-a-6 selections. Do the math. I've never found anything "old" there and some of BA's top brews can be found here. I wouldn't say I've met anyone there that knows beer really well, but it's of no concern to me. Nice big place that's quickly running out of room for more beer, which is a good thing I suppose.

Edit: After some recent trips to several big stores around the state, I've upgraged the pricing rating. Brown's is definitely resonable when compared to others in the state.

This really is the best liquor store in Stillwater. This was the first liquor store I visited when I became of age, with the mix and match beer tour I discovered there was a world of beer beyond the usual BMC (which state liquor laws make challenging in OK). The service is always good and they are more than willing to try to order what you really want. They have a reputation for being the place to go if you want something better than your usual college frat party will offer. Having lived out of OK for so long, I now know it really is a great thing that Stillwater has a store of this caliber to provide the not so common things but with enough selection to make everyone happy. Places like that are not as common as a person could hope.

This store is impressive when it comes to selection. At first sight I thought is was your average Oklahoma package store. Upon entering, I found a very well stocked "wall of beer". I was surprised to find nearly every beer available in Oklahoma.

I stop there every time I am in town to stock up. As a previous user mentioned they have a pick 6 deal. They also have many hard to find beers in Oklahoma. When limited edition beers or seasonal beers come to Oklahoma the Bottle Shop always gets them.

I highly recommend this store.

Brown's Bottle Shop is a surprising find in the small college town of Stillwater (Oklahoma State). Brown's was remodled a few years ago and is very nice, clean, and inviting.

I've had no problems with quality, but check the bottling dates and look for dust just to be sure; the turnover can't be that great compared to a bigger city.

Service is good, but I wouldn't rely on the numerous college kids that work there to impress you with their beer knowledge.

The selection is very impressive. Just about anything available in Oklahoma is here. They also have a pick six with more available than the usual good liquor store...but the price is a steep $11.49.

Overall, I would highly recommend Brown's if you're in town for a football game or for whatever else might bring you to Stillwater.

Note: Selection rating is relative to other Oklahoma establishments, not nationwide.

This place has one of the best selections of beer in Oklahoma. They're one of only a handful of places in Oklahoma that do not mind going all out and stocking a great selection of very BIG beers, especially the selection from Great Divide Brewing.

The sales people are happy to assist and are pretty knowledgeable on the subjkect of beer. The store is well lit and clean.

It's a damn shame that the archaic laws here dictate that strong beer [ie anything stronger than 3.2%] MUST be sold , ugh...warm and only in liquor stores.
