Decent beige head. A cross between ring and blanketing lace. Dark brown where light does shine through the center of the glass.

Chalky, dark roasted malt aroma. Just a touch of coffee.

Burnt (black patent) malt taste up front. Brings a lot of coffee notes to the tongue. Relatively thin bodied with ample carbonation.

Serving: On tap into 20oz imperial pint
Served: 26 October 2014

Appearance: Pours a deep black color with a creamy nitro-head. Pretty indistinguishable from other nitro stouts but, as usual, this one looks really pretty like the rest of them.

Smell: Not much in the nose to be honest- some light maltiness, a touch of sweetness, a hint of roastiness.

Taste: Really nice and smooth, with a blend of your average stout flavors. The oatmeal here softens things a tad, but doesn't add much flavor on its own. The stout has good flavors of roasted coffee or espresso, and is lacking more of the sweet flavors popular in many stouts. Good rounded flavor makes it easily drinkable.

Feel: Nice of soft in the mouth due to the oatmeal and the nitro.

Overall: Another serviceable beer from John Harvard's. Nothing that'll rock your world, but one that you also wouldn't mind having a few of.
