Also known as: Pardubický Porter
The original recipe for this beer was devised by the company’s third master brewer, Alois Šimonek. It first saw the light of day in 1891, and proved a hit with visitors from home and abroad at the Jubilee Exhibition in Prague. Pardubice Porter is brewed in the same way as 130 years ago and to the original recipe. The recipe has been a carefully guarded secret by generations of brewers.
This Porter is made of four carefully chosen types of malt and Saaz hops. Its maturation period is three months. The Pardubice Porter has fine sweet malt taste; dark, thick foam and full and harmonic flavor. Beer connoisseurs will appreciate its chocolate and caramel tones with a subtle touch of cherry and licorice. This beer is also recommended with sweet dishes.

This is a very good porter, much in the Baltic style. Pours very dark, with a small head. Some bitterness, with chocalate undertones. Reminds me of a couple of the better Russian and Polish porters, and it is quite smooth, considering the potency. I'll definitely get more! No drawbacks here, if you see it, grab it up.

Pours a deep dark-brown color with a medium top off beige head that dissolves quickly. Aroma is of roasted malts, caramel, raisins, bread and chocolate. The taste is sweet and roasted with notes of dark and dried fruits, caramel and chocolate. The finish is lightly bitter and the aftertaste has a decent lenght. Mouthfeel is soft and silky with a medium carbonation and a medium body.
A quite good example of a porter.

I keep repeating myself (for what now?) that I'm not a great fan of porters or stouts, but fate seems to bring me quite a few good ones along the way.
This one I got as a present in Prague from a retired, kind colleague and this porter was a great present, thank you very much once again!
Looks awesome, pitch brown (as opposed to the pitch black of stouts), smells of malted barley and its real greatness comes in the taste. It is quite heavy with a full body, very well balancing with hints of sweetness (not too sweet) and it has an extraordinarily clean taste, no roasts can be found here. Though it is 8% ABV it is very easy to drink, I almost backed down 2/3rd of it by the time I'm writing this. Tiny carbonation makes it feel creamy like a stout.
Feels great again, a very good quality beer from the true kingdom of beers, the Czech Republic!

Served cool from 330ml bottle into American nonic pint glass.
L) Very dark ruby brown, thin but dense off-white head.
S) Sweet marshmallow / toffee malt.
T) Nice burnt malt flavour, liquorice hints. Actually no sweetness, which contradicts the smell.
F) Nice density from the ABV, carbonation is mild and fits beautifully into the beer. Low burnt malt bitterness in the aftertaste.
O) Really happy with this one, recommended.
