Served in an imperial pint glass at the Palatine brewpub.

Watching the Hawks continue to make some history (against the Red Wings, no less) and enjoying a beer. Good times. This stuff pours a straight onyx topped by a couple fingers of solid light tan foam. The nose is a straight dash of mild coffee. My running theory is that the nitro tap dampened any other potential scents, but I have no real way of knowing whether or not this is true. The taste brings in more of the same, though the coffee seems fuller, richer, and there's a touch of cocoa and roasted malts in there as well (though those may just be wishful thinking on my part). As things progress, the coffee starts to grate, taking on a decidedly nutty character. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a pleasant nitrogenation and a consequently chewily velvety feel. Overall, a solid stout, but the coffee was just too much of a single note, one that grew tiresome somewhat quickly.
