Chain bar in Austin, with a lot of BMC on tap. In a town like Austin, no reason to go to a place like this, unless someone else wants to and you feel like being nice.

This was my first stop for a drink after being in Austin for about an hour. Also the closest "beer bar" to my hotel. Little Woodrow's is a chill bar with a casual party vibe. Equal seating inside with a "U" shaped bar and a good sized outdoor seating with tables and a good amount of picnic tables.

In terms of beer selection, there were about 30 or so taps with highlights that include Live Oak Hefeweizen, Fireman's #4, Shiner Bock, Franziskaner and beers from Independence Brewing Company. Bottle selection is much more extensive with options from Dogfish Head, Spoetzel Brewery (Shiner Bock, Blonde, Light), Sam Smith and Lindemans.

I had a couple of beers here, took in some of that Texas sun and moved on down the line to Opal Divine's Freehouse just a short distance away.

Located on the corner of West 6th Street and Nueces with Torchy's Tacos as part of the complex. Complex, you ask? There was an extensive wood deck patio with picnic tables along 6th with the "U"-shaped wood bar through a pair of garage doors. There were high tables and chairs, booths, video games, and high surfboard tables to left of bar. On the right were a few sofas and some comfy chairs as well as English dartboards in the "Lounge" area. In the game area, lots of booths across from the arcade games. A great clientele.

Beers: 27 drafts; around 75 bottles.

Server: Bar1 aka Jamie. How come nobody signs in at their register?

Located on bustling 6th Street, Little Woodrows is blessed with a great outdoor space. I like the garage style doors that can be opened to bring the outside feel indoors.

They have a nice U shaped bar that seats approximately 20 or so beer drinkers. There are some tables and video games. Old school darts to your right. They have a decent set-up for the TVs and lots of folks were watching the Texas - Oklahoma State Basketball game.

The beer garden is very popular and seems to be the big draw. I love the long picnic tables; it makes it very conducive for groups.

27 beers on tap, only about a 1/4 are decent. Highlights include Fat Tire, PU, SN, St. Arnolds and Spaten,

They offer 50 or so bottles and again, I would say a 1/4 are decent. Highlights for me include. BB Bburgerbrau, Bohemia. Chimay Red, Duvel, Franziskaner, a couple from Real Ale and St. Arnolds.

I like the mix of classic and modern rock. The crowd is slightly older for 6th street.

The service was business like and efficient.

Not a bad stop but not in my top 3 Austin spots.

This is the meeting place for the Austin chapter of Red Sox Nation. If you're a Sox fan in Austin on a Friday night, stop on in. We'll be the loud guys wearing Red Sox shirts with exaggerated Boston accents.

With that out of the way, on to the review. First of all, the selection is throughly mediocre. The first reviewer said there were 50 taps--huh? He must've been suffering from double-and-a-half vision when he was here because the actual number of taps is closer to 20. Nothing too impressive either. I stick to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale when I'm here because it's far and away my favorite of the draft beers available. The other taps consist of beers like Guinness, Blue Moon, Newcastle, Lone Star, Fireman's # 4, Stella Artois, Dos XX, etc. You get the picture. An interesting note is that Little Woodrow's only serves beer and wine; there are no mixed drinks apart from a mimosa machine. There's an okay bottled beer selection, but this isn't the type of place I'd go to to drink a Chimay.

The atmosphere is good if you're there to watch the Red Sox game on a Friday. Otherwise, there's a patio for the outdoor drinking. It's never been too loud when I've been there, which is nice.

As there is no drink-mixing or food serving, there's not a lot for the bartenders to do. That said, they're friendly and attentive. Best of all, all of the bartenders are female and of above-average attractiveness.

There is no food for sale apart from bags of goldfish/pretzels. However, there is a taco stand next door that will deliver their tacos into the bar, so you're not left totally high and dry in the food department.

Overall, this is a nice place for a good time (especially if you're a Red Sox fan) but it's not a serious beer bar.

Little Woodrow's is one of the best little bars in Texas! Well, Austin at least. Just approaching the place with it's outdoor picnic table seating and rolled up garage doors you know it's going to be fun. And it is "the biggest deck around".

But, there's not really that much good beer there. They offer 110 beers with 30 on tap, but the wall of taps is mostly basic stuff. Some of the better stuff includes Blue Moon, Lone Star, Stella, ZiegenBock, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Guinness, Bass, Harp, and Fat Tire; and they have Real Ale's Pale Ale and Fireman's #4. They do have some decent bottles though, with a few from Left Hand, Pyramid, New Belgium, and Saint Arnold; as well as some decent imports like Duvel, Saison Dupont, and Franziskaner.

But it really is a party bar. They have tubs of bottles iced and ready to go, and a frozen mimosa machine. And lots of specials: Sunday is Draftmania with any beer for $2.50, $2 Texas Beers Monday, Big Ass Beer Night on Tuesday (23 oz from @1.75), and Lone Star is always just $2.

Apart from that, it is a comfortable, brightly painted, kind of Tex-Mex looking place. From the brightly colored walls of yellow and red, to the wooden floor and bar, to the casual "lounge" rooms with sofas and lamps and mounted trophy heads on the wall - it's comfortable, casual, laid-back... except for when the college crowd packs in to get drunk, watch the game on the flat screens, or play Golden Tee. Still, it's a pretty good time!

First of all, the place only has maybe 50 beers on tap at the most. If you count the roughly 100 they carry on bottle you might get 150 but there’s going to be some overlap one way or another. I wouldn’t agree that the tap selection is the worst you’re going to find although there’s nothing too unusual. The bottle selection does include a few Belgians such as Chimay and Duvel but that’s about it. The ambience should be better as the layout of the bar has a cool oak lodge feel to it but that’s offset largely by a generic yuppie presence in the joint at all times (everytime I’ve been there anyway - it may improve later in the evening when the shirts have to head to bed). The bartenders and waitresses are all total Barbie dolls but as you no doubt know this often results in lackluster service. Overall this place isn’t bad but it could be ever so much better. Nonetheless I think joet gave it a bit of a bad rap
