Got in to Grand Rapids after a 17 hour bus ride. There was 90 minutes til closing time, so we found the bar closest to our hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. There was a $2 cover, and drinks were dirt cheap, compared to where I come from in Boston. I spent $10, including tip, on a Bell's and Bailey's. A mixed crowd of locals, out of towners, young folks standing around the bar and older folks at tables. The bartenders were fast and friendly. There was someone playing a guitar and singing, mostly songs from the 90s. Lots of wooden tables created a homey, living-room feel. Probably 15-20 taps-- the standard BMCs, Bell's, 2 Sam Adams (regular and Cherry Wheat), Woodchuck Cider, Newcastle, and a few I'd never heard of. Definitely worth stopping by, probably a last call kind of bar.

This pseudo Irish pub is walking distance from Founder's in the heart of downtown. Not a whole lot to the place. Nice patio outside, some tables inside, a pool table, a few tvs, and a couple video games. Food is decent pub grub. I've had it a few times and its fine, does its job but nothing phenomenol. Tap selection is good with some finds you won't see anywhere else in G.R. Double diamond, Stell, Two Hearted (all year round), and a few more. About 15-20 taps in general with about double that in bottles. Good deals on tap beer on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On the weekend this place gets a little dead which is weird, but decent crowds during the week. Good place to begin when going downtown or going for a bite to eat after Founder's.
