Bottle purchased at Best Yet Market, Harlem, New York, NY.
Pours a deep black with barely a hint of color. Light tan head, quite bubbly, not much retention.
Smells of chocolate, a bit of some kind of spice (nutmeg maybe?). No sweetness, alcohol or hops to speak of in the nose.
The taste matches the smell, although a malt body is more present here. Again, that spice I can't quite place comes through and is a pleasant change from most of the Porters I'm used to. Mouthfeel is surprisingly light.
Overall, this is a fairly modest and unassuming beer, but it has just enough richness in the flavor to keep it interesting. At 5.6% and a bit on the dark/roasty side, it's surprisingly refreshing as well.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.6%. Black colour, big to moderate tan head. Nice roasted aroma, notes of dark chocolate and coffee. The flavour is distinctly roasty throughout, notes of coffee, hints of dark bitter chocolate. The finish is fairly bitter, both from the hops and the roasted barley. The finish also has a slight spicy "burn", but I am not sure I would identify it as ginger, if I hadn’t read it on the label. Hints of resin in the aftertaste. All in all a very enjoyable beer.

Pours a nice dark and silky black which become lacy and carbonated, almost like a glass of coke in appearance. The flavour remains as roasty mix of coffee and slight chocolate. Unfortunately, although the ginger was present, it was very distinct and didn't add much of a spice or extra flavour to it. Mild hints of ginger in the smell along with dark chocolate. Still a good porter.

500ml bottle poured into pint glass. A decent porter, nothing more. The ginger is pretty subtle; to be honest if it wasn't written on the bottle I'd struggle to identify the slightly unusual taste. This is a perfectly good beer for chatting with your mates in the pub but doesn't really reward deeper contemplation. Cheers.

$ 3.88 (Including tax)/500 mL bottle ($ 0.229/oz) at State Line Liquors, Elkton, MD
BB Jul 2018 L2001 1019 at 42 degrees into a hand washed and dried JK snifter, allowed to warm to 50 degrees
Aroma – fairly mild roasted malt
Head large (Maximum 4.8 cm, aggressive pour), light brown, frothy, diminishing to a three mm ring and partial layer
Lacing – fair. Mostly drag from the ring as levels fall, but some small partial rings as well
Body dark brown, opaque
Flavor – begins with toasted malt (Mild) followed by a mild bitterness and no hop flavor
Palate medium, watery, very soft carbonation, nearly flat
A decent English-style porter having some of the characteristics of both brown and robust porters. Worth trying, particularly at cellar temperature, if you’ve not had the style.

Poured into pint.
Pours opaque black with thin creamy tan head, low retention, quick reduction to some bubbles on the top.
Smell - ginger, roasted, chocolate.
Taste is the same.
Light body, soft carbonation. Rather simple porter, additionally and not very successfully flavoured with ginger.
