500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger ABV is 4.2%. Chestnut coloured beer, big to moderate creamy beige head. Moderate aroma of malts, nuts and biscuits, hints of caramel and chocolate. Distinctly malty flavour, probably some caramel malts and chocolate malts have been used here, but the beer is not very sweet. Some fruit and moderate hops in the finish. Definitely a "Scottish Ale" rather than a "Bitter" - you won’t find many English bitters with this character these days, methinks.

A nice dark color but the flavor was lighter than expected. Nice but not great.

Aroma: Fruit, malt, medium , some kettle caramelization, no hop aroma, light fruit, no peat. Medium malty sweetness. Appearance: Deep copper, 1” creamy head, quickly dissipates, brilliant – very clear. Flavor: rich and malty but the malt is not overly strong, fruit and caramel, not much hop flavor, balance to the malt, finishes dry. Mouthfeel: smooth, medium low carbonation, creamy. Overall Impression: clean malt, dry finish.

a: nearly clear copper with an inch thick offwhite head which receded to thick even surface foam and patchy lacing
s: Caramel malt
t: Ripe light fruit, mainly pear, over a mild caramel malt base which later on comes to dominate the flavor. Sweet to dry finish.
m: Light to medium, good body, light carbonation tingle.
o: A good session Scottish ale, but falls short as a Wee Heavy simply because it is rather light on both flavor and ABV. Good dinner accompaniment and decent sipper, but like the Parallel 49 Salty Scot I had recently, not something outstanding enough to come back to on purpose at $3.50 a pint.

Decent, but a little boring. Light brown pour with little foam. Aroma of malt with some caramel. Flavor is a little watery, but still smooth and malty. Nothing overtly wrong with this beer, just low abv and associated lightness all around.
