Notes: This Lager/IPA hybrid is a revolution in refreshment and flavour. All the crisp clean notes of the finest lager but with the discrete bitter finish of a well-balanced IPA. It's not confused about what it wants' to be, it's just the best of both worlds.

Can. Clear straw with a frothy head which produces decent lacing.
Citrus aroma. Hints of honey and straw.
Taste as per smell with a mild astringent completion.
A light refreshing feel.
Between two stools.

Look - Light gold colour. Rich foam. Nice lacing.
Smell - Citrus, light hops. After while mostly hops and sweet malt.
Taste - Bitter, hops, some citrus undertones.
Feel - Light and refreshing. Medium bodied.
Overall - Good combo. Takes lightness and bitterness of good lager and mixes with lightness and fruitiness of IPA. Very nice beer.

Perfect Hybrid! The clear, clean and crisp texture of a lager with the nice bitter-sweetness of a good well balanced IPA. Has a nice and clear golden colour with medium carbonation and clean white head. Comes in a 500ml bottle roughly at £1.75 to £2.69 at most places leaving you utterly impressed. Nice citrusy smell with grassy notes.

Clean, crisp and pours well. Love the aroma and the fresh taste left on the tongue after the first mouthful. Bottle quantity is very good making it great value for money. All in all it is surprisingly good coming from an unassuming label. Couldn't wait to order the next one. Definitely recommended.

Golden blond, some thin floaties. Beautiful creamy white foam.
In the smell fresh hop and white flowers, grassy (melissa, lemon balm), a hint of citric. Fresh And light.
The taste starts malty, then a dry finish. Good hop, light citric.
The aftertaste again starts malty and finishes hoppy, with tea scent, delicate and pleasant.

Snow White head atop a lovely, very active golden beer, translucent despite the action.

Bready and herbal; hops are noticeable, but grassy and piney.

Flavor follows: it's a very clean brew, with bready, biscuity malts, a touch of pepper, and light, balanced hop bitterness.

Smooth and drinkable.

This is billed as a lager/IPA hybrid, but really just comes across as a moderately hopped lager. It's pretty good, though, and very drinkable. I had to stop myself from using the word 'clean' five times in this review.

Crystal clear straw color with white head. Aroma is slightly grassy and hoppy. Taste is light and refreshing with some grassy hops and a bit of crakery malts. Body is light and well carbonated. Really easy drinking and refreshing.

Pours light golden, decent foamy head

Lovely sweet spicy fruit salad aroma, some cinnamon and floral aromas too

Lemony, tangy taste comes through that evolves into a mild/medium bitterness. Light bready malts too. Well carbed, slightly dry finish, fairly light in body. crisp.

Really refreshing and pleasant drink. Lots of flavour for 4.1%

Bottle, also had on draught

I joined Ba to proclaim my love for this one. I love lager and I love hoppy IPAs and this marries the two perfectly. It has the crispness and lightness of a euro lager but the nose and body of an American style IPA, without the 'dry-mouth' effect an IPA will often give you on your second round.

Proper session lager, the added IPA hoppiness gives the beer in increased and welcome depth of flavour.

Would love to try this on draft, football, Saturday, 8 pints, lovely.

Pours light golden clear beer with worthy 3-finger white head. Excellent retention. Blowing aroma of IPA hops - resiny and lemony. Taste is a combination of malt lager character and remarkable IPA note. True hybrid engine. Evidently, more simple than IPA itself, but meanwhile more drinkable. Nice experience after witty experiment.

Pale straw coloured beer with a white head which dissipates pretty quickly. It has a pleasant sweet white grape juice nose. That sweetness is not reflected in the taste. After a relatively watery start rather herbal hops take control. They aren't that bold, but there is little else going on. That said, the hop flavour is pleasant and the beer is fairly refreshing.

A superb hoppy lager. Compares well with a Czech or german pilsner and has all their qualities plus a wonderful hoppy aroma and taste. Surely an India Pale Lager not an American Pale Lager?!

The lacing is excellent. 3D suds remain after the beer is gone. Healthy and attractive carbonation.

The smell is pilsner meets IPA. Dry hopping is in evidence

The taste is beautifully crafted and feels like drinking a good German pils with a craft beer hop twist that is truly welcome.

Judged as a lager this has to be rated high. It is a lager and not a golden ale or any of the other descriptions wrongly given it. Williams Brothers have created a very interesting lager here. At 4.1% it's great to have in a session to balance out any higher abv beers without in any way sacrificing taste or enjoyment.

Line this up with your favourite lagers in a session and enjoy it! It won't disappoint!

My mark out of one hundred would be 84.

Appearance: Rather pale yellow. Pours a small head that recedes quickly.

Aroma: Fresh hops and citrus with a hint of honey-like floral sweetness.

Taste: Mild, bitter, fresh. The floral are still there, but now combined with hop bitterness. It's refreshing and quite easy to drink, fitting for warm weather.

Mouthfeel: At first a little sharp, as if it had quite a bit of carbonation. But I don't think it's the carbonation... Light bodied.

Overall: I'm not sure if the lager/IPA hybrid aspect brings much of interest to the table. This is certainly better than a generic lager, but seems like it has many typical IPA characteristics. Tasty, even if nothing very special. Guaranteed Williams Bros quality though.

Pours pale gold with a creamy white head. Grape fruit and melon with some cracker underneath.
Lemon jelly bean up front with yellow plum, tangelo, and mango to follow.
Floral end and drying linger. Crisp, light, round with slight chew.

Bright with lots of fruit. I don't know enough about yeast to say if the lager strain has an effect.

I would add that a lot of other reviews seem to ignore what this was aiming for: a blonde ale (you hafta ignore British ales calling themselves IPAs, with a few notable exceptions) with lager qualities. With the number of indistinct British golden ales out there, this manages to be interesting, and therefore I have to call it a success.

I'd drink it all summer.

Straw coloured body with decent enough white head it looks like crap lager wonder where else these comparisons go.

Great aromas floral notes and hops which is great and deceiving because the taste is dull like bud with hop hints but not much.

Lacklustre elsewhere and well I've had worse but

A - Golden straw, good thumb sized foamy white head lasts for entire drink.
S - Lager malts followed by light hops, floral & citrus notes, grassy hops.
T - Corn, lager malts, citrus hops, grain. Lager like in taste.
P - Tangy, crisp & clean, light body, good carbonation.

O - A solid attempt & a good lager but not an IPA in my eyes other than having more hops than usual. It's good as a lager but I'm not sure how this managed to be one of the winners in Sainsburys 2011 Beer Competition.

Brown 500ml bottle best before Jan 2013: struggled to see why this was one of the winners in the 2011 Sainsbury's Beer Comp.

Poured into Veltins Pilsner tulips it looked very lager/pilsner in appearance, being light golden and clean.

Some hops in the smell but not much more than a regular lager, could find no reason they claim it is a Lager and IPA hybrid so far. Just like a Lager.

The taste didn't excite either, there may have been a more hoppy flavour and feel to it than some Lagers but I've certainly had hoppier Pilsners/Lagers during my drinking life.

More hype than hip hip hurray in my eyes. Appears to have been a lot of messing about during the brewing and 'lagering' process without any discernible impact on the finished product.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Jan 2013. Bought as part of the Sainsburys British beer hunt - apparently one of the two winners. Described on the label as a lager/IPA hybrid - essentially a dry-hopped lager.

Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. A clear golden hue with good carbonation. Forms a decent head of white foam that subsides after a minute or so. Aroma of light malt with dry notes of grassy, leafy hops - reminiscent of a decent pilsner.

Tastes of light, grainy malt with a mild bitter finish. Notes of grassy hops, with faint hints of stewed leaves in the background. Mouthfeel is tingly and astringent, with an aftertaste of subtle aromatic hops.

Pretty good for a lager - a cut above the typical industrial offering - but doesn't live up to it's name. The flavour is pleasantly dry, with subtle aromatic hop notes that make for easy drinking. However, it's best not to label a beer IPA unless it has the hops to match - could have done with more late hopping for extra character. Drinkable, but won't blow your socks off.

This beer is cold fermented with Lager yeast and is "Lagered" at 0 degrees for 4 weeks

A - Golden orange with a minimal head that was gone
S - Light hop essence, decent malt aroma with yeast, straw and fruit mixed in.
T - Hops are much blander than I expected, as I thought this would be a very well hopped lager. Bit of hop and citrus up front, some straw/hay in the middle and a bland "beery" after taste that is clean and dry
M - Crisp clean with a decent carbonation.
O - Better than the average lager. Easy to drink but could be a bit crisper, cleaner and definitely hoppier. For a Lager it is good but for a "Lager/IPA hybrid" it needs More.
