330 ml bottle, Hunter and Sons, Bristol - Pours jet black with a medium tanned foamy head. Medium carbonation. Aroma - Huge aroma of coffee at the front, dark chocolate notes, dark stoned fruit feel. Taste - Sweet and smooth, as aroma with a huge coffee front, roasted malty middle, dark chocolate feel, light bitter finish with a nice hint but not overpowering alcoholic warmth. Lovely imperial coffee stout. Please note this is a review of the non BA version at 10%, a few reviews here are for the BA version at 11.5%

tap at Muted Horn Berlin. Pitch black, tiny head that dissipates into a ring; aroma of good coffee and chocolate, no alcohol at all but where's the barrel?; tastes like a well balanced mix of coffee and dark chocolate but needs more bitterness to me since, not a dessert irs tho. again no alcohol detected for a 11,5% beer; medium body, soft carbonation. Good irs but missing the BA factor a bit

The colour is warm black, the three finger head is brown and compact; it sinks very slowly leaving no lacing on the glass.

The smell is creamy with sweet notes of coffee and toffee. Hot alcohol and some barrel-aged notes of oak, whiskey and tar. Flowers and twigs in the background.

The taste is sweet with bitter coffee, hot alcohol and sweet liquorice. Toffee and bitter herbs in the background. Full body. The aftertaste is hash with alcohol and cold-brewed coffee, heavily roasted malts and some molasses. The finish is harsh, like drinking old coffee.

The carbonation is light, the small bubbles short-lived. The liquid is thick like treacle.

Too harsh for me.

Dark brown beer, going to black with a thin mocha head.

Nose: A massive, thick nose of black coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, dark syrup, licorice, earthy notes, tobacco, soy sauce and some oak at the end.
Taste: Like a very dark, cold cup of coffee with a lot of sugar in it. Dry and bitter chocolate and some dark bread. The sweetness and bitterness works well together.
Mouth: Full body. Thick and complex. Sweet and still dry. Light carbonated. The ending is roasty and bitter(sweet).

I really like this! It's so good!

Pitch black with a quickly disappearing chocolta brown head.

The nose is dominated på roasted coffee, with a bit of burnt toast. Slight oak tones on the finish.

Taste is all coffee to start, revealing hints of oak and liquorice. The finish has hints of blackberries.

Mouthfeel is thick and oily with ligt carbonation.

Good stout if you like coffee, really nice texture, velvety and smooth. Would probably benefit from some aging, to marry the coffee to the other flavors. Slightly one dimensional fresh..
