MARCH 2023.
33 cl can (€6.50).
As soon as the can is uncorked, the enveloping tropical scent of mango (I would have also said papaya, if I didn't know that there was only mango) enveloping.
Versata is an opaque straw yellow, slightly amber.
The foam is minimal and dissolves on its own in seconds.
Very light body in the mouth with light carbonation with a sensation of very small bubbles. In the same beer from years ago, drunk in the bottle, however, I remember a much more lively carbonation.
The taste is obviously centered on the mango which is the master. Other hints of tropical and yellow-fleshed fruit also emerge (especially ripe yellow peach).
The astringent note of lactic acid is quite weak and non-astringent (like when I tasted this beer some time ago it was only found in bottles) and light cereal notes also emerge in the background.
Very tasty, but compared to my memory of previous drinks, it lacks that distinctive character that was brought about by that note of lactic acid which was much more evident enough to astringe quite decisively on the tongue, even leaving it slightly dehydrated.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Golden colour, large white head. Aroma of mango, fruity hops and lactic acid. Sour flavour, plenty of lactic acid, notes of mango, lemons and moderate fruity hops.

11.2oz bottle. $5
Not much head, cloudy yellow-grey. Smells like a mango scented candle was lit, I can seriously smell it across the room. Almost artificial, even though I know it isn't. I love mangoes but this was too subdued in an odd way. The Tropical Punch from this brewery actually had more mango flavor... that should say it all. That said, the mango is here, the sour is here, but both are surprisingly mild in character. You won't be ODing on mango flavor while puckering your bottom, like I hoped I'd be.
Mildly sour, enjoyable, with a bunch of mango flavor that somehow still lacks.

Huge mango, mango blunt wrap, fresh, candied, juiced, peeled, whole, lots of mango, slight sour tart taste, lemony citrus, with caramelized malts and some floral earthy herbal hops

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a nice looking bronzed burnt yellow/orange color with a quickly dissipating small foamy to semi-bubbly nature to it. Some 'fizz' in the sound of it. No lace.
The aroma screamed scores of endless mango flesh and skin, sour/sweet/tart and a touch of grassy hop ends ever so slight in that whiff.
The flavor leaned towards the brisk side of sour running through the tart and sweet portions of the endless mango waves. Guess what the aftertaste was - you guessed it pure mango flesh and skin.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied perhaps a touch under with a fair sipping quality about it due to the sour harshness coming through as it warmed. Good carbonation and a semi-sticky finish of mango flesh and some dryness.
Overall, well, I must say I believe both brewers set out to do what they wanted to - this is pure unadulterated mango! I'd have again for me preferably for warmer weather.

You had me at mango! But three mangos, well it tastes like there are three in this glass, and loads of tartness for the biggest of sourpusses.
It pours a headless yellow with just a bit of effervescence. The aroma is a strange sour fruit amalgamation. Cool.
The taste is a not too big bomb of sour fruit. It works real well, and the mouthfeel is a real experience with a mouthful of tart twang.
Recommended. I wish I had a few.

Pours a yellow-orange with zero head and lacing. Smell is very mango forward with some sourness and just the slightest hint of funk. The mango is not as prevalent in the taste and comes off as artificial almost as if Jolly Rancher made a mango flavor, very tart. Light bodied and carbonated, dry and tart mouth feel.
