this is a monster, super good, the first beer i can remember having from these guys that isnt flavored, cool to see them nailing the basics this well without all the frills. this hits like on a de molen level for me, with nuance and intrigue beyond just a ton of dark roasted and specialty malts, there is a cool yeast layer to this, warming and baked, making it kind of wintery and cozy to me, as well as some real neat middle grain character, hints of things like chestnut and graham cracker and maple, black fig, rum raisin, i love how dynamic and complex it is, and how well refined, cant believe it was on sale at the shop, this is the kind of beer you never need to mark down i wouldnt think, no sign of it being a victim to oxidation or anything, smells and tastes great. leggy and coal black in the glass. the low end is super roasty and bitter, burnt coffee and light smoke to me, a wood character even though this isnt barrel aged, and its drying without a lot of sweetness for balance. it permeates my tongue, i taste it long after i finish it, even the next morning it is still there, kind of like when you smoke a cigar and it stays with you awhile, this has the same permanence. the yeast to me is kind of english, maybe nordic, but it adds a lot to this, somehow the alcohol is also pretty well hidden, this drinks smooth, palate coating and enormous, but smooth. impressive overall quality here, this is big deep midwinter type stout, in need of no adjuncts or barrels. delicious!

Delicious. Beautiful color.
This beer is a perfect amount of sweet. It is sweet, but not overly so. Rich, and absolutely exquisite.

Poured moderately hard from a small bottle into a snifter glass, forming just a bit of light brown head on an intense brown body. Head faded to a ring of heavy lacing. Smell is a bit licorice and dark fruit, resembling a Russian imperial stout. Taste definitely reminds me of the same, roasty and dark fruit, but a solid balance of bitter and sweet. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Not really a standard imperial stout, but a very good Russian imperial stout.

This lovely bottle has been sitting in my aging bin for over a year. It's time.
It pours black and syrupy with very little foam or head (but there is a bit). The aroma is boozy-malty - about what one would expect. It tastes very sweet and smooth, with load of baked in roasty flavors. It goes down creamy and smooth, with very little bite.
Highly recommended. If I can get more, I will.

Tasted from a 12 oz bottle into a Duvel tulip.
L - Motor oil brown color and opaque even when held up to the light. Light brown head is weak and quickly limited to a ring around the glass (not surprising for a beer of this strength). When swirled, there are strong legs on the glass and slow-moving drifts of lacing.
S - Enticing blend of roasted grains, oak and strong, brandy-like alcohol.
T - Strong malt flavors with lightly burnt grains smoothed out by sweet alcohol. Rich and complex.
F - Thick, silky body with low carbonation. Moderate-strong hops bitterness seems boosted by the lightly acrid roasted grain note. Moderate alcohol warmth seems restrained for the listed ABV.
O - This is a smooth, silky, warming beer for sipping and pondering.

Bottle to snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a small tan foamy head settling finely to barely leave any lace.
The aroma had a huge fudge-like, milk chocolatey coated marshmallow fluff/cake-like with enough toasty and roasty coffee blissful character.
The flavor yields to the sweet side with some sticky fudgey/cakey-ness throttling on through the roasty and toasty notes. Mild aftertaste of sticky fudge.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation did seem a bit under but I didn't mind. It was a bit stickier than expected but not cloying. Mild finish of coffee sweetness, marshmallow fluff and milk chocolate/fudge.
Overall, a very nicely done imperial stout well worthy of coming back to.

On tap in Antwerp. Thick creamy tan head. Lace left. Black color.
Very omnipollo like but not cake batter. Sweet and malty. Chocolate, fudge, roasted malts, and vanilla. Smooth and creamy. Very enjoyable, but I liked the adjunct stout I had from them a bit better.
