Nice restaurant with a full bar and outside seating. The beer list was pretty good. Quite a few taps of all local beers. There are also a lot in cans/bottles it looked like. The food was good and was an okay price. The service was not excellent, but not bad.

I had to review this place as it appears I'm the only person who really enjoyed my food here. I had a center cut sirloin; it was locally farmed and done to a nice medium rare. It was also fairly priced at 20 dollars for the quality and texture of the steak. They had a beautiful patio. Although my party decided to eat in, I would have liked to have a few drafts of Fresh VT beers on the deck.

I was here for Vermont Brewers Festival weekend. Prohibition Pig was packed but Arvad had a great beer selection this weekend. SOS, Focal Banger, Heady were either in cans or on Tap on the day that I went. The service was excellent; we had a great server who had an easygoing style.

The vibe was like the tap list, friendly and local. It was not packed but had enough friendly faces around that I felt comfortable going here. I would recommend this to anyone going to Waterbury to check out the scene.

Went here for lunch on a weekday.Ended up with a 5 minute wait. We were seated outside by our own request. My wife had a Heady while I had Focal. We had a burger and their version of mac and cheese and it was excellent. We loved everything about the place. Selection was awesome along with service. Not as well know but definitely worth the trip

On my most recent trip to Waterbury the Pro Pig was packed, after two pints at the Blackback it was time for a change.

This place was practically empty one table inside and one on the patio were taken. There was no vibe, no ambiance, nothing at all. That being said the service was fantastic, perhaps it was just the particular hostess and waitress we ended up with that day but major kudos to them. The selection is half decent however the quality is where things fall apart. To be blunt the food is awful. Have a pint but do not eat here.

We actually ended up going to the Pro Pig after this disappointment and all was well again.

This is where to go when Prohibition Pig is packed with tourists. That said, it is a decent substitute: a nice sized restaurant with an upstairs bar area with a lower level restaurant. Great food (Reuben) plus excellent service added to a very worthy draft list of primarily Vermont crafts makes for a pleasant lunch. Avoid the weekends and you may avoid gobs of screaming babies.

This can be a hidden jem.
With The Alchemist making a lot of their beers available on tap, Arvad's can often be overlooked. This is a place many locals frequent. Unpretentious atmosphere, good service and reasonably priced food abound. Nice spot to sit out front, and often a nice tap list. Don't overlook this spot.

Was in Waterbury 6/24, could not get into the 3 places having HF anniversary tap takeovers, so went into Arvads for lunch. Had decent meal, and got to try two Alchemist non Heady beers on tap, and watch the crowds stand outside the other places and not move, so actually was pretty nice and a good decision.

Stopped in last week after playing frisbee golf in Waterbury Center.

Great bottle list for a place that doesn't seem focused on "The Beer," at least not in appearances. Draft list was kinda wanky though. Settled on a pint of Rock Art Ridge Runner, not a typical call for me, but seemed to be the best thing on. Ordered the Salmon Burger. It was a bit overcooked (dry), but not bad.

Server was funny, food was ok (not great), and my beer was served properly.

Not a bad joint, but not really a beer destination. It's really not bad, but it's really not great, either. Sorry mates.
