So I decided to drive out here the other day to check this out compared to the other citywides. I have to say when I first walked in I thought this one was going to be as good as the citywide on jefferson. However the longer I was there, the less I liked the place as it seemed that this is the place that Citywide beers goto die. They had some hoppy brews still on the shelves that were bottled in '06, such as loose cannon. Additionally, most of the bottles seemed rather dusty and had an old feeling to them as well. Most of the dogfish head also seemed out of date to me as well as everything they had in was brewed in early '07. I do give them some props though as this is the only citywide that I have seen have any Stone 7.7.7 and any Hoppin' Frog beside the IPA as they had the black and tan and Boris. The store itself was a big beer garage with cement floors and even a little chilly inside. I have to say that I probably won't make the trip down there again and stick to the other Citywides as only the 7.7.7 would make it worth my while.

At first glance seeing everyone carrying out 30 blocks of naty ice makes you wonder if this store actually has anything worth while in it...but it does. I walk in and go straight to the craft section and was pretty impressed. They had the likes of everything from Stone, including 08 and 09 vertical epics, All the allocated from FFF, Soutern Tier, and a nice surprise of Great Divide oak and expresso oak aged yeti and much more. Service wasn't that great but this was on a Friday evening and they were bombarded by customers. I ended up leaving with a Two Brothers Heavier Handed limited oak aged IPA and also a 6 pack of Bells Oracle which they pulled out the back for me. All in All I would reccomend checking this place out if you are in the area and you might just find some hidden gems.

So I always forget about this City Wide as it is not really on my side of town. Stopped in there the other day and man was I surprised. They had a huge selection of craft beers with some harder to find ones and some vintage things as well. The still had some stone 07' on the shelf along with some Alpha Kong which got snatched up by me. I was asked if I needed help once but only after they walked by my and I nodded. Upon checkout I was dealt with a friendly girl who carried on a short conversation about the Alpha Kong. I will be making stops into here a little more often to see what gems they might have.

Ok, so i decided to check out the "other two" city wides in town tonight, and this was my last stop....and now i am happy. i walked in and discussed my dog with the two staffmembers who were hanging out by the entrance and then went in. instantly impressed as, right in the first cooler around the corner, i found 7 bottles of a very hard to find and highly coveted beer that i wont mention because i dont want them getting snatched up. they had a damn good selection with 3F, bells, heavy seas, all sorts, im too drunk to remebre everything, what am i a freakin genie. anyway, they had lots of good stuff...not as broad a selection maybe as the downtown south bend location, but comparable....and this one is certainly not as picked over, meaning you can find the hard-to-find. ill be back to this gem.

I ended up here by chance after not finding City Wide on 8th Street. This was a big barn. It had the feel of a barn too. Open air beer barn. There were two employees staffed and neither looked too excited about coming out from behind the checkout deck. They stuck behind the counter, but did ask me if I needed help. Not a high class joint by any stretch. A liquor store.

The selection was paltry compared to E Jefferson City Wide. They did have some Lost Coast bombers that I didn't see elsewhere though. Six packs of the same stuff as the others more or less. Most stock was shelf warm, which doesn't bother me. Again, wine and liqour too. Piss water. I only bought a few of the LC bombers and left. There was a kid in line behind me who was buying three forties of malt liquor at three thirty in the afternoon. He already reaked of alcohol and he knew the cashier lady by name. I felt like I was back in Muskegon Heights for a second. I felt bad for him. Poor fool. Prices were as expected. Not a total wash by any means. This one edged out the Grape St. store in quantity of selection, but not necessarily quality of selections.
