This was the original San Antonio Drafthouse. I like that they took an old theater and basically tore out half the seats to put in the tables. (I remember seeing first-run films here before it became a dollar cinema… and at some point closing? Before being taken over by the Drafthouse chain.) This is the place to go if you want a beer while you watch a film. Thursdays they have a great special--$2 off pints, which is ridiculously cheap. Sometimes I’ll come here just for the beer. Food is ok at best and mediocre at its worst—but better than your standard pub fare. Stick to the brew and you’ll be ok.

The Alamo Drafthouse is a nine-screen movie theater in W/SW San Antonio. There is a bar in the lobby, and additional drinks and food may be ordered during the movie (the servers will explain).

The food is generally pretty good. Selection ranges from appetizers (chips & salsa, fries, potato skins, etc.) to salads, sandwiches, and pizza. Also available are candy, popcorn, and desserts.

For a movie theater, the beer selection is pretty good. About 15 beers are on tap, ranging from the awful (Bud Light, Miller Light, etc.) to the excellent (Guinness, Bass, Newcastle, etc.). Their house beer, Drafthouse Amber, is brewed by Indepenence Brewing Co. Also available are a rotating St. Arnold's tap and a rotating New Belgium tap. The last two selections from New Belgium (2 degrees Below and Biere de Mars) have been excellent! Finally, a sometimes changing selection of bottled beers is available, running the gamut from Bud Light to Smirnoff Ice to Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale.
