Whole Foods Market is the most beautiful grocery store I've ever seen. Seriously, they get the highest marks for presentation of any national or local grocery chain. Bright-colored fruit perfectly stacked, soup and salad bars, glorious wood-fired pizzas, gelato and desserts, magnificent aisles of healthy food products. It's a very interactive experience - friendly, knowledgable staff, plenty of delicious samples. You could wander around a Whole Foods for hours - they even have a cafe space for you to take lunch break from all your busy shopping. This particular store is located in a strip mall near the intersection of Rt. 161 and Sawmill Rd. in Dublin. Plenty of parking. The building itself is spacious and well-lit.

The catch is the prices tend to be noticably higher at Whole Foods, which unfortunately is why I don't shop there on a regular basis.

However, the beer selection is awesome. One large cooler in the central beer and wine section full of American, European, and Asian microbrews. Great Lakes, Bell's, Founder's, Anchor, Guiness, Smithwick's, Rogue, Alesmith, CBC, Great Divide to name just the tip of the iceberg. Terrific selection of Belgian styles especially. They have a separate cooler, located a few aisles away (not sure why), of individual bottles for sale - again a nice selection.

They're also very interactive with their beer. They recently hosted a tasting with the brewmaster from the Columbus Brewing Co., and there's talk of hosting daily beer tastings in the evening. The guy running the tastings really seemed to know his stuff.

So while Whole Foods is expensive, and may fall under the umbrella of corporate health food stores for some, they are beautifully organized, staffed by knowledgable folks, and focus on the local as well.

Upscale vibe, subtle lighting, good quality items across the board. Decent selection of craft beers, with quite a few individually-priced singles. Most of the stock is kept refrigerated in a large walk-through cooler. Recommended, if only for the experience.

Pretty decent rotating tap list and a large beer cave. Good place to find limited releases too. Their only drawback is pricey singles.

Not a bad place to find yourself in the middle of a polar vortex.

One thing that is neat, is that they have a good draft selection, and you can sit and have a pint or two, and also get some growlers to go. There bottle selection is good. They offer singles, as well as regular 4 packs and up. All pretty good stuff, including the occasional rare beer or two.

Food, speaks for itself. Not a ton of local options, but it is a Whole Foods, so you are going to get pretty good organic and sustainable foods!

Highly recommend!

This place has an excellent selection for a grocery store. Although located nearby to The Anderson's store (which has a bigger selection), this WF has a ton of foot traffic, which leads one to believe that anything bought would be fresher and priced to move. The beer is spread throughout the store, with separate coolers dedicated to local beers, singles/bombers, and six/twelve packs. I had the opportunity to visit during one of the Monday night tastings, and really enjoyed the ambiance and access to great food (try the pizza). The beautiful thing about this place is that you can buy you beer and consume it on premise (just ask for glassware), which makes for the best grocery shopping experience I've ever had!

Once in a while Ill stop back in this location on my way to The Anderson's which is right near there.

This is quite typical of all Whole Food's Ive ever been to. Beer selection is great for a grocery store. They have a nice selection of larger format beers. Ive seen 750mls of St Bernardus for example.

Service is thin, but its mostly a grocery store so what do you expect? I dont typically need any service anyway.

I only really stop here to supplement a trip to The Anderson's, and with The Anderson's hugely expanded selection I dont really have a need for this location anymore.

Located in a busy strip mall area of Dublin, this store is a great stop for foodies and beer geeks alike. While they may not have the rarest of rare available around here, they have a solid, fresh selection of craft beer.

The beer is spread through three different areas in the store. When you enter, to the left with the vegatables is a selection of localy produced Ohio beer, stored cold. In the center of the store is the largest selection of beer, col-located with the wine. Most of this is stored cold, with some of the big bottles at room temp. Finally, to the right with the restaurant portion of the store is a medium selection if singles. While there is some overlap, make sure you look at each area for the full scope of what is carried.

Rotation seems to be pretty well handled here, so I don't think freshness is an issue. In addition, there is typically someone manning the counter in the center beer/wine section that at least knows what the store carries, if not more. They also occcasionally have reps from breweries or distributirs in here pouring samples for a nominal fee.

All in all, a great stop to pick up beer and the associated artisinal food that goes so well with it.

This is a great store to find a wide variety of great beers ales and wines from around the world. -

If it's a hard to find item try here first - Odds are they will have it.

You can buy singles and or six packs and pint's - I buy single beers as a way to try and rate different brews - I call it a hobby -

- their selection is awesome and always changing with the seasons -

Summer ales - Winter lagers - and everything in between - Even has Delirium Noel during the season -

great prices compared to specialty beer stores

One of my go to stores in the Columbus area, along with the Andersons and From the Vine. Usually carry a decent and up to date selection of craft and import six packs and singles in two separate sections. I've found some rarer releases in here as well and they occasionally have a great selection of Cantillon as well. I often times can't get any service in the department though and prices are usually on the higher side. I do find the occasional deal there though, one time snagging Old Rasputin XII for $9.99! Definitely stop by if you're in the area to check out the selection, good for central Ohio.

A few things to start off with. Their is three areas you need to know about. All local ohio beers are in a cooler to the left of the entrance past the produce. All 6-12pks and seasonal packs plus their good euro selection is in the middle of the store with the wine selection. Single bottles and bobmers are mostly located in the back right of the stoor. If you do not like hippies you might not like this place as all of the employees look like they just got out of woodstock.

Quality--Store is clean, bottles are all in nice condition. Whole foods seems to move bottles fast because their selection is always fresh which i am sure all the hop heads appreciate.

Service- Corey is the main beer guy at the store and is very helpfull. My guess he has tried every beer their and is more then happy to have a beer chat. My guess is they wont order beer for you since they are corporate but you can always suggest something.

Selection-Their selection is very nice, they usualy stock all the seasonals as they come out. It seems though limited their euro selection is nice, they seem to have a decent amout of cantillion that a friend of mince was excited about. Their Bobmer selection is week though and pales in comparrison to Kennys.

Value--They are pricey but not too bad. Their singles are priced fair but some of the 6 pks are 50c-$1 more. My suggestion would be to go across the street to Andersons if you are looking for a seasonal's as they might be cheaper. Any year round offer i would stick with whole foods though even if it is $1 more as i would gladly pay more for something that is 2-6 months fresher.

Can't say enough about this store. So I won't.

But what I will say, is that they have a knowledgeable, friendly staff. Obviously, you don't necessarily want to bother the produce guy with beer questions. But there are plenty of people there that know the beer.

They have the local beers lovingly displayed in a spare cooler (ironically enough - in the produce section!!!)

And they have the ample "main" selection in the middle of the store. Followed by the section that frustrates a lot of folks, the one back by the salad bar / deli / 161 Diner / etc.

Perhaps one day they can "centralize" it. And I do hear and feel your frustrations if you're only going for the beer.

But since I cook at home with fresh ingredients and live nearby, I shop there probably 3 to 4 times a week when I'm not on the road. And I kind of like the "de-centralization" of their beer.

Plus!!! - They have beer tastings AND - you can dine in-store and have a couple of nice draft selections. A couple weeks ago I had the Independence Ale from Great Lakes in Cleveland on tap on two different occasions. A nice compliment to pretty much everything on the menu!

As soon as I walked into the store, I could see the beer isle at the front of the store for all to see. There was a large selection here, most craft lovers would probably be surprised to see such selection at a grocery store. Surprised to see Arrogant Bastard here, but I will not be complaining. Did not see anyone around to help with the selection, but seeing as others stated they did receive tremendous help, I will not hold this against them. Walked around a little more to see the beer section was continued in another part of the store that included some singles. I can see how this would help a shopper who is traveling all around the store, but it is a little annoying for someone who is coming specifically for beer. Nothing rare here, but the selection is far above your average beer place.

To start out i have to say that I love going to stores like this. It's far more that just an average grocery store. This place also has an appreciation for aesthetics and the impact they make on the customer. There is something way more satisfying about buying beer from an upscale store than some shady looking shack. Everything in this store was well kept and visually appealing. They also had a great selection of beers as well as wine. The only complaint I have is that they have two beer sections that are in different parts of the stores. Luckily we were looking for steak and found the singles section over by the deli. They had a few other beers not found in the packs in the other section and that could throw some people off considering it's a big store. Overall I love this place and am for sure coming back next time I visit columbus.

I would have never thought that my favorite beer store would be a grocery store. If I'm in the mood for a session beer, I can find a good one here no problem. If I need something new and interesting, I can find it here. Heck, if I want some olive oil, face wash and some soup to go, I can get it here. Not only does this store provide tremendous convenience, but the selection here is far superior to that of many bottle shops in the area. I have found Rochefort 10, Pannepot's Old Fisherman's Ale, Alesmith Speedway Stout, Nogne, Northcoast, dogfish head, and a great wine selection. I was incredibly impressed with their singles department, they still had some christmas ales that I had trouble finding at other places, like St Bernardus and Gouden Carlous's offerings. The store was elegantly laid out, and the beer was actually split out all over the store. There were two defined sections predominately meant for variety. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I have been nothing but impressed with the bottle shops and beer stores in Ohio. Being from Pa, the prices are what have blown me away the most. God bless the Ohio liquor and beer laws, as well as their distribution.

Make sure to travel to the back right corner of the store where they hide all the singles. Found many hard to find beers here and the price was about average from what i expected. Service was great, very knowledgeable staff in the wine/beer department. They sat there an talked to me for about half an hour trying to help me decide on what I should get. Stopped by this lucky find on the way through town. Beer selection is not overwhelming, but thoughtfully stocked.

Very annoying that beer is located in different places in the store, ranging from 6/4 pack refrigerated display, to belgians, to isle-end displays, to 22oz/750mL selections on the other side of the store. Once I'd discovered everything there was to discover it got easier. On that note, staff I spoke with were helpful in locating beer, but not overly knowledgeable about the beers themselves (then again, if I wasn't such a geek I'd have perceived that they knew a lot more).

Selection has a few good locals and some great harder to find craft brews. I was able to pick up some coveted names not found in my home state. Overall craft selection wasn't huge, but certainly above average with some really great finds. Prices were very reasonable for what I saw.

If you want a nice and consistent selection of beer, Whole Foods will not disappoint. As much as I like to support the local establishments (which I typically do), when I need to pick up a Dreadnaught or an Unearthly bomber I know where to go.

The staff are friendly though I have never really needed their help and they do a great job keeping the shelves stocked. It's also nice to see about 30 cases of Hopslam being displayed.

Near the buffet food they sell singles of various sizes and styles; domestic craft, Euro, Asian, etc. I tend to take the wife and kids there for dinner once a weekend and enjoy a different single beer while purchasing other stuff to take home.

Glad to have this place in town!

After entering the store, look for the wine department. Then turn around and you will see beer department number one. It consists of a row of coolers filled with 6 packs and a shelf on the end with singles. The selection here is very nice. They also stock several organic beers which I have not noticed in other places.

Then, it is time to move on the beer department number two. This is more towards the back right of the store and consists of cold singles. There is a very decent selection in this area as well. As I was shopping the cold singles area I did notice that they sell singles of Pabst Blue Ribbon which I found odd and comical at the same time.

Most of the typical breweries are represented in the store somewhere. Quality is great. I did not see an employee of the store anywhere around the beer sections. Since I had no need for assistance, I would prefer that I don't have someone falling over me trying to help. This is a regular beer stop for me.

What I walked away with:

Nogne Porter
Le Coq Stout (brewed in 2003)
Sierra Nevada Harvest Ale
Hoppin Frog BORIS the Crusher
etc...

Service is the same as any major grocery chain. Pleasant workers with not a great knowledge of beer. Selcetion is pretty good, no real hard to get beers but a solid line up.
Prices are decent as there is a lot of competition in the area. Worth a visit if you're in the area. I don't go there specifically for the beer, it's just a nice bonus.

I have now been to whole foods many times to make a beer run. I am surprised I have not yet written a review.
Not only is the selection beyond surprising, but the service is out of this world. If you go make sure you tell Corey that you are a beeradvocate and he will take care of ya. I just started talking to him on the phone when I was looking for Mikkeler Beer Geek Breakfast stout, and he offered a 4 pack of Founders Breakfast stout that was leftover from the last release. I came in as quick as possible and bought 2 Beer Geeks, and 4 Breakfast stouts. I've also been able to find both versions of Pannepot and other rare Belgians there. They have a section that is for seasonals , and rare beers too. Corey always has lots of founders, bells, and Great Lakes available all year round.
Not only can you get great beer here they also have some of the best grocery around. If you find a beer you want, go pay for it, and you can drink it while you shop around. They allow open containers of beer & wine.

This was the best experience I had for beer in Columbus.

I had never been to a Whole Foods before going to this one. The closest thing I have available in Pennsylvania is Wegman's, and they don't have the capability to sell alcohol. So I walked in and immediately found the beer area which was next to the massive wine displays. They have a whole cooler lined up with six packs and singles tat was complete with organic beers and other niche beers. The not-chilled beer display was equally impressive. Beer Geek Breakfast, Unibroue 2005 & 2004, Speedway Stout, VE 07.07.07, FRX, and other equally impressive beers. The selection for warm bottles was not massive but it had a few hard-to-find ones that stood out (which to me is worth more than a large selection). They also had another separate cooler at a different location that housed Belgian and German beers. I bought a St. Bernardus for 9.99. The prices here are certainly reasonable, if not incredible. They were as low as you'll see out in Columbus. The girl working near the beer department was extremely helpful and she showed me the price scanner that showed you the prices. She also explained that some prices came up with a different name because the European UPCs don't always work correctly with the scanner. This was also the best service I had in Columbus. If I had a place like this near me, that catered to ALL palates/preferences/lifestyles I would do all of my shopping there to meet my needs. This place was excellent.

Whole foods is such an awesome grocery store. While I do not consider myself to be part of the "organic" crowd, I still love to go to this place. They do have a bit of everything.

On the food side, this place is probably heaven for the vegan-organic food crowd. Who ever knew they had something like almond butter. Interesting. They have a great selection of just about everything, especially desserts and the other sweet stuff. The only downside is that I find their food to be on the expensive side.

As far as beer goes, the selection is definitely above average. They have a few offerings from Three Floyds, DFH, Stone, Sierra Nevada, and many others. I buy quite a bit of beer here. The beer guy there is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. His name escapes me, but definitely ask him any questions if he's available. The beer prices are very reasonable, which balances the store for me as a whole.

Overall, definitely worth a visit.

Stopped by here to check out the selection. As noted by others, most of the beer is next to the wine right in the middle of the store. A good representation of American microbrews (Rouge, Bell's, Sierra Nevada and plenty of others). The bottles are in a different section near the back of the store. Along with the American's, they had a pretty wide area of Belgians. One thing that I almost missed-a section of singles to the right of beer cooler, including Stone's most recent verticle epic offering. They had some sort of wine tasting while I was in, so the employees were pretty busy, but one guy showed me where the singles were located.

I've been to Whole Foods many times now, and each time I go I become more impressed with their selection. They always seem to have a few new beers in stock every time I visit which is the main reason I prefer them over Anderson's. They have two fairly impressive coolers full of beer. One next to the wine section, and one in the back corner which is full of singles. Some of the brands they carry include: Stone, Alesmith, Rogue, Ommegang, Victory (including Old Horizontal), North Coast, Great Divide, Founder's (including their Imperial Stout and Kentucky Breakfast Stout), Three Floyd's and Allagash. They also have a great Belgian selection that includes: Rochefort, St. Bernardus, Tripel Karmeliet, Delerium, De Dolle, Rodenbach, Cantillon, Fantome, Kasteel, and De Ranke XX among others.

The service there is pretty good. There always seems to be a guy asking if I need any help. However I usually don't use his service since I always know what I want. The prices are pretty reasonable and are on par with the other stores in the area.

The last time I was there which was about two weeks ago I picked up the second to last four-pack of Kentucky Breakfast Stout, and a couple of Old Guardian bombers and left a very happy customer.

Overall I feel that the other reviews kind of underestimate how great this store is, which prompted me to write this review. This is definitely a must stop when in the Columbus area. And if you live in Columbus, be sure to stop in every few weeks to find some of the rare beers they get in every now and then.

They actually have beer in three places: a small cooler near the deli, which also points one to the larger cooler near the middle of the store (near the wine), and some displays through-out the store at the end of aisles. It looks like they have 2 brews of their own (a 25 yr anniversay beer brewed by I don't recall, sorry, and another organic offering in a sixpack which I believe is brewed for them by Goose Island). We ended up buying a German Doppelbock I had never seen. A good over-all selection, the place is spotless, and the gentleman tending the area was friendly and took pride in his section.

Even though I didn't look around all that much, Whole Foods Market looks like a great place to shop for all kinds of exotic and not so exotic foods. I was there a few days before Christmas so the parking lot was packed and the store was bursting with bustling holiday shoppers.

The beer was easy to find in the front center of the store; I just followed the signs for wine, as always. They have a pretty good selection of American micros that I won't list in their entirety, but many of the best midwestern breweries are represented (Bell's, Great Lakes, Three Floyds) along with Victory, Great Divide, Avery, etc. All of the six-packs are on refrigerated shelves (think milk in a grocery store).

In addition, they also have a pretty good selection of singles: bombers of Stone, Alesmith and various Belgians and Germans. I picked up a few Belgians, a few organic ales that I haven't seen elsewhere and a single of Celebrator (a re-review is desperately needed).

All in all, Whole Foods has a pretty good selection at what seems like reasonable prices. It's nowhere close to a 'destination store' since nearly everything they carry (and much, much more) is available at several stores within the immediate vicinity. I'll probably make a return visit, but it'll be to check out the cheese, olives and other assorted food items.

The store is laid out as a grocery store, with the beer / wine in approximately the center. The beer selection is not quite as good as Kenny Rd or Andersons, but it does offer a few beers you can't find in the other locations.

Excellent selection of Belgians and American craft beers. I highly recommend a stop here.
