Poured from undated can into pint glass. It pours a dark walnut with some deep ruby hues when held to the light, and two fingers of frothy, ecru-colored head and lacing. There's little to the nose I can smell some subtle oatmeal; that's about it. The tastes are primarily dark roasted malt, burnt coffee, and oatmeal. There's a weird, and unpleasant, bitter taste that I can't quite describe. It's medium-bodied, somewhat creamy, and you don't even notice the 5.2% ABV. Overall, this is too bitter and I'm not tasting any complex flavors of chocolate and oatmeal. The can is undated but a stout should age reasonably well. I'm not impressed with this offering.

A: The beer is hazy dark reddish brown in color. It poured with a two finger high tan colored head that died down but consistently left a thick layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Faint aromas of roasted malts and soy sauce are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and also has some additional hints of sourness. Bits of roasted malts are most noticeable in the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate to high amount of carbonation. No smoothness is detectable.
O: This beer has an unusual bit of sourness for the style and seems like it could have been maltier with a heavier body.

Pours a black color. 1/4 inch head of an off-tan color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of strong roasted malt, hint of coffee, and a hint of sweet malt. Fits the style of an Oatmeal Stout. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. There is also a noticeable dryness. Tastes of strong roasted malt, hint of coffee, slight alcohol, piney hops, slight chocolate, and a hint of sweet malt. Overall, average appearance and aroma, but good complexity and blend.

Miner's Daughter Oatmeal Stout brewed by Mountain State Brewing Co., With an ABV of 5.20% This Oatmeal Stout pours out a deep brown color with a nice thick light brown head. This brew has the look of cola, not saying that is a bad thing. There is also a decent amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with roasted grians and malts. There is also a nice sweetness and a slight hop bitterness in the smell of this brew. The look and smell are really inviting, good so far. Now for the taste, it is bold with roasted flavors. You do pick up on some nice mild sweetness and smokey flavors in the taste. This brew does go down smooth almost to smooth. The body of Miner's Daughter Oatmeal Stout is a solid medium. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a super nice balance to it. This is a bit lighter than most stouts on the market. However this stout is really enjoyable, to drink. The mouth feel of Miner's Daughter Oatmeal Stout is Bold, Clean , Smooth Roasted and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving this brew a 4 out of 5. I would get this brew again givin the chance to. Mountain State Brewing Co., Did a real nice job with this brew.

A terrible beer and I'm sorely disappointed because I was excited to try a new Oatmeal stout. Color is fine, head is light tan, and the body is pretty light but has good mouth feel. The taste though, horrible. Strong metallic flavors, rather repulsive and completely overwhelming. Foul after-taste. Not sure if this was a bad batch, the cans were stored incorrectly or what, but I can't image they wanted it to taste this way. No date on the can, bought the same day it was tried, April 16 2017.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear extremely dark cola brown, approaching jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint chestnut brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy dark tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of roasted malts with a light aroma of charred malts. Hints of earthy hops.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of roasted, toasted, chocolate, and charred malts with a hint of brown sugar sweetness. That is followed by a light presence of earthy hops. There is a moderate amount of roasty bitterness which fades away pretty quickly.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin/watery with a hint of dryness in the finish.

O: Enjoyable but not great due to the very thin/watery mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden and the beer is easy to drink. I could easily have a couple of these even tough it is a touch one dimensional.

Undated can into pint glass. Pours a jet (coal?) black with a modest tan head that dissipates rapidly. Initial impression is bitter chocolate and bitter coffee. It has an odd chemical taste to it. Mouthfeel is way too light. Finish is dry and thin. Not what I was expecting from an oatmeal stout - wouldn't revisit.
